Cannibal Corpse The Comic Book
Metal Blade reports: Death-metal icons Cannibal Corpse are issuing a limited-edition 96 page comic book exclusively at the Hot Topic booth on this summer's Mayhem Festival tour.

Drawn entirely by Vince Locke, who illustrated the acclaimed graphic novel 'A History of Violence' and each of the band's album covers, the Evisceration Plague comic graphically depicts a story for every song on the band's album of the same name—arranged in order, no less. As an added bonus, each copy comes with a copy of the album.

"Vince Locke has done an incredible job turning our lyrics into blood-soaked and vicious illustrations for the Evisceration Plague comic book. He really has captured visually what we were trying convey lyrically. His artwork has brought our macabre songs to life in truly explicit fashion…fans of graphic horror will not be disappointed," comments bassist and founding member Alex Webster. - Check out a preview of the comic book

Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments: "Hear Ye thrashing metal maniacs! We have returned with our most relentless album yet…sure to penetrate and ravage your virgin ears, "Deflorate!" I feel confident that we have outdone what we achieved with our last album…words cannot express the excitement we all feel about the new material. Now this is fucking Death Metal! The boys at Audiohammer Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis have done it again…the result is one beastly sounding album. Last but certainly not least, prepare yourselves to behold the hair raising shred of Georgia's own Ryan Durell Knight! Special thanks to Tony Koehl for the kickass job on the cover art…feast your eyes and ears on this most unholy of spectacles! The time of Defloration is upon us!

As foretold at the end of our "Majesty" dvd, the new album will come packaged with an exclusive DVD featurette, lovingly titled "Going Places". Ride along with your favorite jerks on Knight's first tour with the band, a drunken romp through our first ever shows in Sweden, Norway and Russia. Sickness!" - more on this story

Bleeding Through Rise
PR reports: Bleeding Through have inked a deal with Rise Records. Here is what frontman Brandan Schieppati had to say about it:

"We're very excited to align with a record label that has so much momentum and is growing when many seem to be faltering, dropping bands and firing employees. Rise continues to grow. We've been a band for a decade and we wanted to be with someone who is enthusiastic about Bleeding Through and is in a position to help us continue to grow and progress as well.

"A lot of labels, managers and agents carry these egos as if they are the most important part of the equation. It's all about what the bands can do for them, to advance their interests, instead of the other way around. We had a lot of serious interest from several labels, many of whom we get along with. But we felt like Rise is the best fit for us because they are excited about our band and our music first and foremost." - more on this story

Lynch Mob Return
PR reports: Frontiers Records is excited to announce the worldwide release of the Lynch Mob come back studio album entitled "Smoke And Mirrors" to be released on September 18th in Europe and October 13th in the USA.

After seventeen long years singer Oni Logan and guitar wizard George Lynch found their way back together and again show their amazing abilities in some killer new Hard Rock songs. "I would say this new record "Smoke and Mirrors", is the record we should have put out as a follow up to "Wicked Sensation"...better late then never I guess...", says Lynch presenting the new record.

Lynch Mob were formed by George Lynch, one of the few genuine guitar heroes of substance to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, after Dokken split up in 1989. The band's first album" Wicked Sensation" went on to sell over 500,000 units in the US and featured the talents of singer Oni Logan, Anthony Esposito on bass and another former Dokken member Mick Brown on drums. After a tour in support of Queensryche, Logan opted out, with Robert Mason taking his place on the follow up self titled release. However Lynch and Brown eventually returned to Dokken releasing 2 studio albums until he left again in late 1997 putting together a several new incarnations of Lynch Mob and exploring new sounds with different projects. - more on this story

Battle of the Tribute Bands
PR reports: On Saturday, July 25, from 1p.m. to 7 p.m., seven of Southern California's top tribute bands will battle head to throat for cash prizes and tribute fame, rocking out Downtown Long Beach's Rainbow Harbor amphitheater with spotless renditions of everyone from Bruce Springsteen to The Rolling Stones.

Hosted by Summer And Music (SAM)—Downtown Long Beach's re-vamped, summer-long music series featuring more than 40 shows—this battle of the bands may even be more impressive than the real thing. Better yet, it's FREE, conveniently located outdoors at the Nautical Band Shell in Rainbow Harbor, between Gladstone's and PF Chang's on South Pine Avenue.

Any band buff can brag about their favorite music legends, but not many can play the part. Not the case with these tribute groups. In fact, the day's lineup includes a slew of talent so close to the real deal, you'll be double-taking all afternoon.

Holy Grail Ink with Prosthetic
Prosthetic Records reports: Prosthetic Records has signed Los Angeles based Holy Grail. The band, formerly known as Sorcerer, features three former members of White Wizzard and takes their influence from such classic metal acts as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, and the Scorpions.

Vocalist James Paul Luna's Rob Halford meets Sebastian Bach voice belts out lyrics focusing on "Chicks, Vikings, Ex-Chicks, Being Tough, Macho/Machismo, FEMA, Fabio, Conan, Rad Dinosaurs, UFOs and Bilderberg Group," while guitarists James J LaRue and Eli Santana's dueling solos play out like a fencing match and bassist Blake Mount and drummer Tyler Meahl gallop like a pack of wild horses. After just a handful of shows, the band landed a 2 page feature in the LA Weekly, and has planted its boot, firmly on the throat of LA's metal scene.

Luna commented, "After months of losing our minds and shredding through many contracts and label offers, Prosthetic always stayed at the top of our list. They live and breathe the same LA Metal air we do, and know what it takes to develop a band from ground zero. Business aside, we are beyond stoked to work with guys that have the same eccentric and twisted views on music, life, art and shred. Things can only get wilder from here!"

Burden Of Grief's Haunting Requiems Revisited
MMP reports: Today Metal Mind Productions presents re-release of Burden Of Grief's "Haunting Requiems", the band's successful debut album from 2000. It is considered by many as one of the best melodic death metal albums ever!

The new digipak edition includes 4 bonus tracks and is limited to 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc. The release date is scheduled for 27th July in Europe and 8th September in USA (via MVD).

Since the mid-90's Burden Of Grief belong together with bands such as Night In Gales, Dark Age and Soul Demise to the German pioneers and flag ships of melodic death metal, a genre which seemed to be owned exclusively by Scandinavian bands up to that time. But with their 4 albums recorded so far the band has proved that in comparison with their international competitors they have nothing to be ashamed of. With each release they tore the boundaries of the genre. - more on this story
