There has been a lot of speculation about Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and whether or not he has returned to using drugs. Members of the band wondered publicly if Steven had slipped back into addiction recently when Tyler had a messy public split with the band, which turned into him wanting to take a couple of years off to focus on other projects including his memoires. One question has been answered. Tyler issued a statement to People magazine telling them that he has entered a rehabilitation facility for pain management and an addiction to prescription painkillers. In the statement, Tyler also expresses the hope of soon returning to work with Aerosmith. Here is part of what he had to say: "With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford," Tyler says in a statement released to People.

Influential Australian hard rockers Rose Tattoo had sad news for fans on Tuesday, "We're very sad to announce that Rose Tattoo founding member and guitarist Mick Cocks lost his battle against liver cancer and passed away today, on December 22th,'' they said in a statement on their website. The Australian reports that Cocks is the fourth member of the legendary band to have died from cancer in the past three years, following the deaths of Pete Wells and Ian Rilen in 2006 and guitarist Lobby Loyde in 2007. Back in 1991, another member Dallas Royal also died from cancer. Rose Tattoo was formed in the mid-70s, and delivered a sound that some have compared to a harder rocking Rolling Stones. While they never attracted a huge audience in the U.S. by touring with the likes of Aerosmith and ZZ Top, they did grab an underground following which included future members of Guns N' Roses who covered Rose Tattoo's "Nice Boys" on the G N' R Lies album and tapped the band to support them on tour in Australia.

Way points out that the vibe of the new track is similar to Priest's "Living After Midnight." "Judas Priest is considered metal, but it's great rock 'n' roll. It's having nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal. After [additional new track] 'Trans Am,' that started to really bleed into the record." more. Note: "British Steel" came out in 1980, half a decade before MTV helped usher in the 80s answer to emo = "cock rock". So it's a little like lumping My Chemical Romance in with Limp Bizkit and Crazy Town. (Submitted News) Marilyn Manson's insurance coverage will pay $175,000 to settle a lawsuit brought against him by a former member of his band, but all of the money will go to the plaintiff's attorney, a lawyer for the goth rocker said today. Stephen Bier, better known by the stage names Pogo and Madonna Wayne Gacy, brought his breach-of contract case in Los Angeles Superior Court in August 2007 against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner. Bier, who was seeking more than $20 million, alleged Manson used money from their former band partnership to buy items ranging from Nazi paraphernalia to a $150,000 engagement ring for ex-wife Dita Von Teese, depriving him of his partnership share. Manson's lawyer, Howard E. King, said Bier will not get any proceeds and that the settlement check will be made payable to Bier's lead attorney to cover the costs of the latter's investment in the case.
