PR reports: Something To Burn To Release "Transitions" Digitally September 15th. Here is a little bit their PR sent over: For too many people in the 21st century, music has become little more than something to burn. But for the band Something To Burn, music remains everything it was ever meant to be, and more. Something To Burn bridge the gap between rock and roll's heady past and its uncertain future on their debut album "Transitions," to be released this summer on Softdrive Records, the label founded by Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland. "When you put on a vinyl LP, it's easy to recognize a lot of what we've been missing in this digital age, not only in the music itself, the lows and mids that you just don't get digitally, but also holding the cover and feeling how the artwork flows, energy-wise, with the music," says Something To Burn guitarist Jimmy Norman. Something To Burn - Norman, Greg Wayne (frontman), and brothers Shawn (drums) and Jeff (bass) Ballard - have emerged from a pool of influences a lot deeper than your typical iPod shuffle button. They've been raised on music, not the radio, and they know how they want music to sound... And more importantly, they know how they want music to feel.

conqueroo reports: James McMurtry's recent studio albums, 2005's Childish Things and 2008's Just Us Kids, earned him formidable accolades. The Village Voice called him "a poet of the people." Stephen King, writing in Entertainment Weekly, pronounced him "the truest, fiercest songwriter of his generation." Yet a lot of current McMurtry converts were introduced through the 2004 release Live in Aught-Three. Live albums aren't typically greeted with rave reviews, but McMurtry's rockin' treatments of songs like "Choctaw Bingo" and "Out Here in the Middle" in concert made an uncanny translation to record. The Austin Chronicle proclaimed, "This is no-frills, freak-flag rock. Turn it up!" PopMatters called it "a snapshot of where McMurtry is now, [marking him] as a legitimate inheritor of the Texas songwriting tradition." Now, on October 13, 2009, Lightning Rod Records will release Live in Europe, a document of McMurtry's first European tour, on which he was joined by keyboardist Ian McLagan and fellow Texas songwriting legend Jon Dee Graham. The set will be available as a CD with a bonus DVD, or as a deluxe vinyl LP package with a CD and DVD insert. In early 2009, James McMurtry and his trio traveled overseas to play their first European tour. The guys played for enthusiastic crowds in Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Scotland and Belgium. Joining the band on keyboards for the tour was the legendary Ian McLagan (who also played on McMurtry's latest studio album, Just Us Kids).

PR reports: Nashville-based rock band, Red Carpet Rats (RCR), prove their sound has no boundaries by releasing two new singles to two different radio formats. Their memorable debut release titled "Photographic Memory" is heating up the airwaves of Adult Contemporary (AC) and Adult Album Alternative (AAA) stations. Hooking listeners with its up-tempo sound and witty lyrics, the song was a sure success. While AC and AAA stations latched on to "Photographic Memory," rock programmers seemed to prefer the single's "b-side." So the follow up track called "Going To Hell" was released to rock radio soon after "Photographic Memory" debuted. Having a harder, darker connotation, the song was perfect for rock formats. Independent horror film director George Demick immediately took a liking to the song and re-cut a scene in his upcoming release "Dead Start" so that "Going To Hell" could be featured in his film.

Big Hassle reports: On the heels of a wildly successful, sold-out run of east coast shows, LA psych-folk collective Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros announce additional dates, starting at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY on August 30th.The band has been winning over audiences with the infectious energy of its live show, which is equal parts hippie love-fest and musical traveling circus. Kayos reports: Stratovarius, still reeling from the release of their current studio album Polaris (May 26 on Eagle Rock Entertainment) are hitting the States for a national tour, and they want to treat some lucky fans to check out the show for free! The prog-rock pioneers are teaming up with FYE for a two-ticket giveaway in select cities. With a vivacious combination of heavy metal riffage and classical symphony might, Stratovarius' live show is certainly an epic event. The elite Finnish act, formed in 1984, helped define an entire musical genre and 25 years later, they prove they still have to power to rock arenas worldwide. The question is

PR reports: Crosby, Stills & Nash's reputation as one of the all-time great bands was almost assured after their incredible set in front of 500,000 fans and an audience of their musical peers at Woodstock Music and Art Fair, 1969. But, Graham Nash has revealed, the band almost never made it to the stage after their helicopter almost crashed delivering them to the site.Graham Nash: Getting into the concert was traumatic for me because, as we were being transported to the backstage area in a helicopter, the tail rotor stopped operating and the pilot had to slam the machine into the ground... Welcome to Woodstock! The revelation is made in a new, limited edition, multimedia boxed set entitled Woodstock Experience, due to be published by Genesis Publications on the 40th anniversary of the iconic festival, August 15, 2009.

Ace is one of a kind. He has been hard at work the last few years putting together his latest solo effort and now the unveiling is almost upon us. It was a real pleasure to hear an advance of Anomaly and also an honor to speak with the man himself who answered a few questions about it.
