Fall Out Boy Banned
Band Statement reports: The April 21st Fall Out Boy concert at Mizner Amphitheater has been relocated due to the City of Boca Raton citing security issues.

A statement from the city reads "There have been known disturbances associated with one of the bands, 'Fall Out Boy'. We anticipate that the concert will generate security challenges".

"I'm not sure what these 'challenges' are that they are speaking of" says Fall Out Boy manager Bob McLynn. "The town said that if we tried to keep the show on we would have to pay an extraordinary amount of money in extra costs". - more on this story

Madonna Injured In Fall From Horse
AP reports: Madonna is under the care of doctors after falling off a horse over the weekend — an accident she is blaming on the paparazzi.

A representative for the superstar said Madonna suffered "minor injuries" after she fell while horseback riding in the Hamptons, a playground for the rich and famous on the eastern end of Long Island, N.Y.

"The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends," Liz Rosenberg said in a statement Saturday evening. - more on this story

AP reports: Four men linked to popular file-sharing site The Pirate Bay were convicted Friday of breaking Sweden's copyright law by helping millions of users freely download music, movies and computer games on the Internet.

The Stockholm district court sentenced Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij and Carl Lundstrom to one year each in prison.

Vets Protest Metal Concert
Green Bay Press-Gazette reports: Veterans say a festival that could include tobacco sampling, a tattoo parlor and heavy metal music doesn't belong near the Brown County Veterans Memorial on Armed Forces Drive.

The village recently approved a permit for the Music as a Weapon event, set to take place 2-6 p.m. May 17 at the Resch Center before a Disturbed concert later that night. Organizers say the event won't happen near the memorial, which sits on the corner of South Oneida Street and Armed Forces Drive, but some vets are wary the scene will mock the memorial.

"That is sacred land to the veterans," World War II veteran Bob Young told the Village Board. "They don't like to see it abused." The veterans' concern comes on the heels of their displeasure last summer with a miniature golf course constructed almost immediately under the memorial. - more on this story

Sunny Day Real Estate Reuniting?
Ear Candy reports: [Earlier this month]Ear Candy caught wind of a strong rumor that Sunny Day Real Estate, one of the most influential and underappreciated post-grunge groups to come out of Seattle, has reunited with its original members and plan on touring this year.

The band got together in 1992 and released "Diary" in 1994, an album I discovered after Kurt Cobain killed himself and upon first listen I immediately fell in love with every song on the album. Unfortunately, after a few lineup changes and some reported struggles with its label, Sub Pop, the group disbanded in 2001.

The original SDR lineup included Jeremy Enigk. Nate Mendel, William Goldsmith and Dan Hoerner and they are credited with being one of the grandfathers of emo. Now before you go blaming these guys for AFI, My Chemcial Romance and all those other emo bands, they aren't responsible for that type of emo. Think more along the lines of "Pinkerton" emo and you've got it. - more on this story

Adler Says GNR Not Guns N' Roses Without Him
Blabbermouth reports: Ryan Ritchie of OC Weekly recently conducted an interview with original Guns N' Roses and current Adler's Appetite drummer Steven Adler. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

On the fact that many people — including Adler — argue that his Guns N' Roses replacement Matt Sorum could never fill those shoes: "Yeah, I know that. And all the other guys know that. It's just Axl doesn't want to admit it. That's why the songs work — because of all five of us. 'Use Your Illusion' would have been bigger than 'Appetite For Destruction' if it was recorded the way the demo tapes sounded. But every record they did with less members sold less and less."

On "Chinese Democracy", the latest Guns N' Roses record that's essentially Axl Rose and a revolving door of other guys: "He should have called it 'WAR.' W-A-R. W. Axl Rose. It only went gold, and that's not Guns N' Roses. They go double platinum in the first week." - more on this story

Whitesnake Singer Denies Lipsynching Claims
Blabbermouth reports: David Coverdale released a new statement exclusively to Blabbermouth.Net regarding Joe Lynn Turner's (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen) allegations that the Whitesnake frontman lip-synchs to pre-recorded tapes of vocals in concert.

Coverdale said, "I am shocked, very disappointed and surprised by Mr. Turner's misleading and completely untrue observations he felt it necessary to discuss in a recent interview. Whatever his motives, they are disturbing, to say the least.

"I do not 'mime' in concert. I never have and I never will... I am David Coverdale. My career spans almost 40 successful years and I have worked with some of the finest musicians in contemporary music and in all that time I have never 'pretended' to sing to tapes when I am performing in front of a paying crowd. - more on this story

Van Halen Guitar Hero Game
1up.com reports: Rumor of an all-Van Halen themed Guitar Hero game have been around for a little while now, but Activision has yet to confirm it. Now, as is often the case, it looks like a ratings board beat them to it.

The German Voluntary Monitoring Organization of Entertainment Software (or, in the far more awesome original German, the "Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle") has posting a listing for Guitar Hero headlining Van Halen, for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While this does seem to confirm that Van Halen is next in line for the Guitar Hero treatment (following Aerosmith and Metallica), it does also seem odd that Activision has stuffed the word "headlining" into the title for what seems like no particular reason. - more on this story

Final Voivod Album Set?
PR reports: Relapse Records will release what could be the last Voivod album, Infini, in the United States on June 23rd. Infini's 13 tracks are the last to be written with late guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour. Infini also features Jason Newsted on bass, who also mixed the effort. The CD version of Infini will be packaged in a deluxe digi-pack with artwork designed by Voivod drummer Away.

Infini was built from the final songs created by the band with Piggy. There were many discussions and ideas as to how to complete these recordings of songs that had never been actually performed with the whole band in one room. All of his original demo guitar tracks appear as they were recorded, no re-amping, no overdubs, just Piggy as he played the tracks he envisioned in his small bachelor apartment, the amp in the bathroom, capturing his performance with the laptop given to him by Jason Newsted.

Michel went into a studio in Montreal with engineer Glen Robinson and tracked his drum parts, and Jason waited anxiously to get the tracks and add his bass which he recorded with Enrique Gonzalez Mόller at Fantasy Studios in San Francisco, then Snake tracked his vocals with Glen in Montreal afterwards. Jason and Enrique mixed the record in San Francisco over the holidays and Infini was born. Truly a collaborative record that came together from a respect and belief that these final Voivod songs deserved to be heard. - more on this story
