Portugal. The Man Week: Day 1
antiMusic reports: Alaska rocker's Portugal. The Man are turning out to be one of the hardest working bands in show business, releasing a new album every year since their debut in 2006. They return to record stores this week with their third album 'Censored Colors,' which promises to take them from underground heroes to the mainstream of the rock world with their incredible sound which takes us back to the day when it was "the music stupid" and not just image that made rockstars. To celebrate the release we asked the band's newest member Ryan Neighbors to pick his favorite tracks from the album and tell us a little bit about each one. Here is Ryan with today's song:

All Mine - Recording "All Mine" was awesome because we have never done anything acapella before. It forced us to not just sing whatever came to mind but really search for solid melodies and harmonies that could stand on their own without other instruments. Phil and Kirk added some great harmonies as well. Phil has some mean highs there.

When we first started working on the song "All Mine" was with an acoustic but John had the idea to do it acapella and everyone agreed. We put some snaps on the chorus to up the mood a bit. I have always personally enjoyed vocal music and I enjoy this song.

Wanna hear what it's all about? You can do that plus grab tour dates, learn more about the band and their new album and more - right here!

Metallica's Golden Weekend
antiMusic reports: There is definite excitement in the rock world over the release of Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic," in fact you can say the band had a "golden" weekend with predictions that the effort will reach gold status within the first few days of the album hitting stores. But that isn't the only Metallica news from this past weekend. Here are some highlights:

Blabbermouth reported on Saturday: Metallica's "Death Magnetic" is on track to sell around 500,000 copies in its first, shortened week on the streets, according to sources cited by Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS. more

Meanwhile, they are making noise outside of record stores. BW&BK reports that Metallica's ninth studio album, Death Magnetic, came out Friday and is already a record setter in one aspect. Also on the Euro front: Metallica's new album, "Death Magnetic" has entered the UK chart at position No. 1 — ahead of Scottish band GLASVEGAS' self-titled debut, which came in at No. 2. The original release date for "Death Magnetic" was last Friday (September 12). However, the METALLICA album was released early, with shops selling copies on Wednesday (September 10). more

Are Britney Spears and Ryan Seacrest More Important Than Led Zeppelin?
antiMusic reports: There is something seriously wrong in the universe. Britney Spears and Ryan Seacrest have both purchased stars on The Hollywood Walk of Fame but legitimate legends like Led Zeppelin are no where to be found there. One California Zeppelin fan is hoping to change that.

Rocky Dickerson of Chico, California launched a new website ledzeppelinstar.com to help Led Zeppelin to get the recognition they deserve. The statement on the site says "We are starting a campaign to get Led Zeppelin a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Letters have been sent to the group and their management requesting written approval to begin the drive.

"Contact has been made with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and they have supplied all the information needed. Please sign the online petition and keep your fingers crossed!"

We've not sure how much a petition will help the effort since these stars usually come down to money but it can't hurt. Rocky says in his mission statement that his "goal is to honor [Led Zeppelin] with a star in a completely fan-driven campaign." So you can do your part by checking out the site and signing the petition - here!

Bob Mould Plans Autobiography
PR reports: Bob Mould, founder of the pioneering American punk band Husker Du, will write his memoir for publication in autumn 2010. Michael Azerrad, author of the bestselling Our Band Could Be Your Life and Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana will collaborate with Mould to tell the full story of his blazing, era-defining life and career.

Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Bob Mould founded the trio Hüsker Dü in Minneapolis in 1979, powerfully reshaping America's rock scene. Hüsker Dü LPs like Zen Arcade and New Day Rising won over critics and fans by welding melodicism, tenderness, and literary seriousness to punk's rage, volume, and speed. Influenced by the Ramones, the Beatles, and classics like "Eight Miles High," their cover of which was a college radio hit, Hüsker Dü created new classics of rage and alienation like "Celebrated Summer," "Makes No Sense At All," and "Hardly Getting Over It." Determined to create music that mattered both artistically and politically, they released eight albums in seven years and toured relentlessly before drug addictions, a suicide, and artistic and personal differences led to the band's implosion in 1988.

The memoir will, for the first time ever, delve deeply into Mould's life as a musician and his experiences with Hüsker Dü, as a solo artist, and in his most commercially viable and successful work as leader of '90s indie rock kingpins Sugar.
