antiMusic reports: Ready Fire Aim's new album "This Changes Nothing" hits stores this week. To celebrate the release we asked front man Sage Rader to give us the inside track on some of his favorite songs from the album. Here is Sage with today's song "End of Over": Boy screws over girl and loses girl. He misses her and goes back to spy on his old life, and sitting on a grey train on a dingy rainy day, he starts to lament. He remembers the promise of forever and confusion overtakes him. Rain pelts the outside of the train. He has a knot in his stomach. Believe it or not I felt fine when I wrote this song. It was all purely hypothetical. The day I moved out of my house it was pouring rain. I came in at 8 in the morning to pack my remaining things drenched with a bag in my hand. Life definitely imitated art on this one.

BW&BK reports: Matt Sorum, drummer for Velvet Revolver, has revealed the following to Artisan News Service about the next chapter of his band, following the recent departure of vocalist Scott Weiland, who returned to his former outfit Stone Temple Pilots. "We're coming out with something in a couple of weeks and I think it's going to surprise everybody. It's exciting. We're moving forward. We're going to keep going and play rock n roll and get a new guy singing so, we did it before we'll do it again." Sorum went on to say, "We're really seriously thinking about doing something online. Yeah, we got offered a couple of different television ideas you know. Mark Burnett called us and asked us to do that Rockstar thing and we basically said 'No!' to that. We didn't feel it was right for us. No disrespect to him but it just didn't feel right for what we want to do.

Sleazeroxx reports: Sammy Hagar has a new supergroup that includes a virtuoso guitarist and a fellow Van Halen alumnus, but fans eager to see the so-called Red Rocker sing alongside the six-string hero he's most famously associated with shouldn't hold their breath. It seems a peace settlement in the war of wills between Hagar and Eddie Van Halen could be years away, if it arrives at all. "I love Eddie, but we don't love each other," Hagar said during an interview Thursday. "But like I said, people have to be level-headed and have to be healthy before you can settle a feud." Instead of waiting for that friendship to be repaired, Hagar has teamed with acclaimed guitarist Joe Satriani, Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith, and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. The group, code-named Chickenfoot, will enter the recording studio just before Labour Day. "We've written eight, nine songs. We just got to go in the studio Sept. 1," Hagar said. "When people hear the music, it's Led Zeppelin. It's as good as that. I know that's a mighty bold statement... We could rival Zep."

PR reports: Nelly and Fergie have teamed up to release the video for "Party People," the first single from Nelly's upcoming album Brass Knuckles. Set in a warehouse, the video captures a wild underground party scene. Mark Webb, known for his directorial work on videos for Maroon 5, Diddy, Ashlee Simpson, and Fergie, imbues the video with a stylized cinematic feel. Fergie, dressed in a black Moulin Rouge-esque number, flies through the party on a trapeze swing while Nelly and his crew storm the scene dressed uniformly in black suits and ties. The camera scans the crowd as lights flicker, dancers flip through the air, and the DJ keeps the party moving. The scene gets rowdy when Fergie and Nelly trade off verses of speed rhymes characteristic of midwestern rap. Fergie holds her own with a sexy street sass that complements the tough energy and dynamism we've come to expect from Nelly. Nelly rhymes, "I promise you derrty I'm one of a kind / Mold is broken / The formula's mine / I killed the idea and destroyed the design." The track is a signature Nelly club anthem with banging beats, club hook, and even a taste of chop and screw.

PR reports: The Maloof brothers have already established themselves as trendsetting moguls in the worlds of sports, food & beverages and banking. Next up? Rock music. The June 10 on-sale of "Light It Up," the sophomore effort from New York's Rev Theory, will mark the inaugural release from Maloof Music, a joint venture between the famed businessmen and Interscope Records. To commemorate the relationship, the Maloof's are hosting a party destined to return the "sin" to the words "hit single," with Rev Theory taking over the luxurious Rain Nightclub at the Maloof's Palms Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas. The June 12 festivities – to be hosted by Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3 – will feature a performance by Rev Theory, a "Hottest Girl In Vegas" competition which will award three of the City of Sin's finest with cash prizes and a featured role in the new video for the album's title track and second single (which will be shot in Vegas in the coming weeks), and the usually bevy of special guests and decadent details that have made the Rain Nightclub and Palms Resort and Casino one of Las Vegas' main attractions after dark, and well into the morning hours.

PR reports: Patriotism in song usually emanates from country & western singers. Patriotism, pride and passion are felt, but seldom verbalized, by African-Americans. "I'm An American," an emotive and timely new ode to American troops, touchingly delivered by established Las Vegas crooner Daniel Lowery, who is African-American, was released nationwide on May 5th.The song, written by Lowery, Miami producer/songwriter Hal S. Batt and Nashville songwriter Jennifer Constantine, is an uplifting tribute to American troops and a reminder to the American people of the precious freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. "I want this song to be an anthem," says Lowery. "I want to send the message that we need to come together as a country and be as one and change the way things are going on here."

antiMusic reports: Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan made a pretty shocking statement in an interview with Radio Iowa. Slipknot has two platinum and one double platinum album to their credit, which means that they have sold at least 4 million CDs in the U.S. but Clown claims he never made a dollar from those sales. No wonder bands appear bitter after they leave Roadrunner (Slipknot's label). According to Blabbermouth, Crahan said, "I'll just be honest. I've never made a dollar on a record. We make our money on the road." Crahan's band plays a lot of shows in Europe where the festival scene appears to be much more vibrant. "I think America needs to look toward Europe and see what they're doing because over there they all get crazy and they need to have festivals and they just go and they take, like, weeks off and everybody — it doesn't matter if it's your boss or your mom or whatever — it's festival time," Crahan said.

PR reports: The original members of Simple Minds are due to work together for the first time in 27 years when they enter a recording studio in the middle of June '08. In an event that many never thought would happen again, Brian McGee, Derek Forbes, Mick McNeil, Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, have set their aim on producing at least two new tracks that could be released later this year.Regarded by both Jim and Charlie as a 'nice experiment', particularly as it falls within their 30 year anniversary, the week-long reformation is being viewed as one of many 'let's see what happens' ideas that they look forward to working on over the course of the next year. Jim Kerr said "Of course I am excited with the prospect of working with the original line - up once more. I had always believed that the day would come when we would get the opportunity to do so. The last time we worked together was on our Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call album, featuring songs like The American, Themes for Great Cities, Love Song etc, and it is still considered by many as among our best ever work. We have a lot to live up to, but we intend to have some fun attempting to do just that."

PR reports: The Kooks will turn off the amps for a night on their sold out US tour to perform an acoustic set at Portland, Oregon's intimate Backspace on May 27, 2008. Both the small venue (Backspace has a 250 capacity) and playing acoustic are rare for the Kooks and the show guarantees to be a special one for those in attendance. The Secret Show is a free, exclusive performance for the MySpace community. The Kooks have enjoyed a lot of success since they released their sophomore album , Konk, earlier this year. The album, named for Ray Davies' studio in which it was recorded in by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, The Thrills) rocketed to #1 on the British charts upon release. The album was released in the States on April 15 via Astralwerks. Its first single, "Always Where I Need To Be." is currently getting heavy play on modern rock radio, including the 94.7 Alternative Portland station in town. MySpace Music has organized more than 100 Secret Shows since the franchise launched in February 2006 with artists like Rilo Kiley, Moby, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Neil Diamond performing in cities around the world. The 150th Secret Show will take place in New York on June with Gnarls Barkley headlining and The Battles supporting.
