antiMusic reports: 10 Years' sophomore album, Division, hits stores this week. Forget what you thought you knew about 10 Years, Division takes them on a different musical journey. We spoke with drummer Brian Vodinh to get the lowdown on his favorite tracks from the album. Here he is with today's song: Focus - We co-wrote this song with our buddy Dean Deleo. We have a mutual friend who set us up to write together and "Focus" is the result of a couple of days holed up in a Hollywood rehearsal room with Dean. "Focus" is a love song, plain and simple. We have typically strayed from writing such straight forward lyrics about the emotion of love, but this song just really had a 1970's, Led Zeppelin like vibe that it just felt right.

antiMusic reports: Seems that everyone wants a piece of Miley Cyrus these days. Of course, her Disney show had a rating drop after the now infamous Vanity Fair photoshoot. But she does have other options once that well runs dry. We learn that John Travolta wants to make music with her and Hugh Hefner wants her to finish what she started with Vanity Fair. TMZ has the Playboy story: Hugh Hefner doesn't get what the big deal is about 15-year-old Miley Cyrus showing a little skin. The Playboy founder told "Extra" (via NY Daily News) that he's open to having Miley really bare all and stop being a tease when she turns 18. And Marc Malkin of E! Online has the Travolta story: "Not only are they both voicing characters in the upcoming animated flick Bolt, but Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, tells me they could be making music together. 'Johnny may sing with Miley,' Preston said at last week's Step Up Women's Network's Inspiration Awards luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel."

Blabbermouth reports: According to People.com, former Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland checked into a Van Nuys, Calif., jail on Monday (May 12) to serve eight days for a second DUI conviction. The Stone Temple Pilots frontman surrendered at 8:55 a.m., according to the sheriff's inmate web site. Weiland was sentenced on April 28 to 192 hours in jail for a November 2007 DUI in Los Angeles. The singer also received four years' probation, was fined $2,000, and was ordered to take part in an 18-month alcohol program. He was potentially looking at a year behind bars for DUI with a prior conviction. At the time of his November arrest, Weiland had just finished a previous three-year-probation for a 2004 DUI arrested.

antiMusic reports: Lit posted the following on their Myspace page earlier this month: We are sad to have to be writing you all this letter. Our brother, Allen Shellenberger, is currently in the hospital undergoing testing and treatment for a brain tumor that was just discovered. We are still not sure what his prognosis is and we are all standing by and waiting for test results to come in. Please say a prayer and keep him in your thoughts. Unfortunately, we will not be able to make the shows this week in the UK and Europe. We were all so excited to come. At this point we have to just stay put and be by Allen while he goes through this difficult time. We will make it up to you as soon as we can. We know some fans who made travel plans from other countries to see us and we apologize for the inconvenience. Our West Coast dates right now are on hold until we know what is going on. We will post another update soon. Allen sends his thanks for the well wishes and he's sorry we had to cancel these shows. We'll be showing Allen the Lit myspace page with your comments of support. Thanks for your understanding. [our thoughts and prayers go out to Allen and his family, you can post your comments to him

antiMusic reports: Motley Crue have pushed back the release of their new album, 'Saints of Los Angeles,' a week so they could go back into the studio to record a new song for the effort. The "official" reasoning for the move is that the band felt "inspired" by the other bands that are taking part in Crue Fest. A cynic might conclude that they went back to the drawing board to produce a new song with bigger hit potential, as has been known to happen from time to time in rock n roll. The title track from the effort has reached No 10 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart after 3 weeks. Motley bassist Nikki Sixx discussed the new track in a press release, "Before our performance at the press conference, we were firing on all cylinders at sound check just jamming out, and that's when the new idea came. We quickly laid it down and went to the studio to record it, and liked it so much we pushed back the release one week so that we could get it onto the album – it now has 13 tracks. It's the ultimate song to end the record with and begin the new chapter of our career."

antiMusic reports: Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal was recently interviewed by Live-Metal.net and discussed a host of issues including his new solo album, how he landed the gig with Guns N' Roses and gave fans an update on "Chinese Democracy". Here are a couple of excerpts from the conversation:Live-Metal.net: When do you think you will be releasing [your new solo album] "Abnormal"? Bumblefoot: Well, I would like to get it out there as soon possible. It's a plus and a minus that I am doing things all by myself. It's a plus in the sense that I don't have to organize and wait and work it out. I can just put it out as it comes out, which is also a minus because there is no big bang when it comes out. Suddenly it is just there, but I kinda like that. So I am just making it available as I can and hopefully people will discover it and they have the option of deciding whether they like it ot not when it is there. Live-Metal.net: A lot of people might have become familiar with you by way of GUNS N' ROSES. How did your involvement with the band come about? Bumblefoot: It was about four years ago that we started talking. Joe Satriani recommended me and then I got a funny email from Chris Pitman, the keyboard player, and we all just started talking. It took a minute for us to get it together but we started touring in 2006. We just started jammin' and the next thing you know we are doing it in front of people, then we are doing it in all different places, then I am laying guitar tracks on the album and then here we are in New Jersey! Live-Metal.net: Do you ever tire of being asked what is slowly turning into the million-dollar rock journalism question, "When is 'Chinese Democracy' going to be released?" Bumblefoot: How can you not ask that question? It's like, "Doesn't anyone notice that elephant in the room?!" We have new management and they are good guys, and it's in negotiations.

PR reports: They toiled in obscurity for 13 years making hit after hit for Berry Gordy who demanded assembly-line efficiency. Guitarist Eddie Willis, bassist Bob Babbitt and drummer Uriel Jones called that studio basement "The Snakepit." Everyone else knew it as "Hitsville USA." They have played on more #1 recordings than anyone else in the world. Ever since the feature film Standing In The Shadows Of Motown let the world know that The Funk Brothers were still funkin' it up with the same kind of dedication they brought to their dayjobs (while jamming at Millie's Chit Chat Lounge late into the Detroit night), these three have finally been reaping their just rewards, stepping in front of the curtain and laying down the grooves for appreciative audiences around the world. Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the releases of Live In Orlando by The Funk Brothers, on CD June 3 and DVD June 17.

PR reports: PETA sent an urgent plea to Maricopa County Attorney Andrew P. Thomas urging his office to vigorously prosecute rapper Earl Simmons, also known as DMX. In August, authorities discovered 12 reportedly neglected, malnourished, and scarred pit bulls on Simmons' property as well as the remains of three dogs—one of whom might have been burned. Simmons has been indicted on seven charges of cruelty to animals and other felonies. In 2002, Simmons pleaded guilty to charges related to 13 caged and neglected pit bulls on his New Jersey property. In an action alert on its popular Web site, PETA urges visitors to contact Thomas and demand that Simmons is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. "Simmons appears to be either unable or unwilling to provide even the most basic care for animals," says PETA cruelty caseworker Peter Wood. "People who demonstrate such blatant disregard for life and desensitization to suffering can pose a serious risk to all animals—including humans—with whom they come into contact." PETA is asking that—if convicted and in addition to serving a period of incarceration—Simmons be prohibited from owning or harboring animals and that he be required to undergo a thorough psychological evaluation followed by mandatory counseling.
