Rush Founder Dies
antiMusic reports: John Rutsey, a founding member of Rush passed away on Sunday, according to a report by Q107 Classic Rock, who cites Rush's management company as the source of the news. He was 55. At press time an official cause of death had not been disclosed but Rutsey did have diabetes. Rush has not yet made a statement.

Here is what Wikipedia has on John Rutsey: a former drummer, most recognized for being a co-founding member of Rush along with Alex Lifeson and Jeff Jones (who was shortly replaced by Geddy Lee). He was the band's drummer from summer 1968 to July 1974. Rutsey played on the "Not Fade Away"/"You Can't Fight It" single and the eponymous debut LP, after which he quit the band, citing creative differences and health concerns related to his diabetes that may have posed potential problems with extended tours.

Rush's self-titled debut album was released in March 1974, and Rutsey left soon after in July 1974. Neil Peart joined that same month, and played his first show on August 14, 1974. In a 1989 Rockline interview, Lifeson remarked, "John's still around. I see John quite often. He gave up playing shortly after he left the band and went into bodybuilding. - more on this story

GNR One Show Reunion?
antiMusic reports: The Sun sent over this promo for the new episode of their broadband show Heyman Hustle which features a fun interview with Duff McKagan where he is asked about a one off GNR reunion. Don't hold your breath, but his answer is pretty funny. He also discussed Scott Weiland. Here is the promo followed by the link so you check it out:

This week, sports entertainment icon Paul Heyman turned his "Heyman Hustle" cameras on Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan, who answers questions about the recent rumors of a one night only GNR reunion. Duff also talks about Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland's departure from the band, and the search for a new lead singer.

Also on the show this week is supermodel/heiress Lydia Hearst; Miss USA Cristal Stewart; heiress Ally Hilfiger; and Duff's wife, supermodel and swimwear fashion designer Susan Holmes, whose barely legal dress leaves host/producer Heyman speechless.

Wentz To Wed Ashlee This Weekend?
Hecklerspray reports: Everyone loves a nice wedding, don't they? Or failing that, a mediocre wedding. Or failing that, a wedding between Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz. And it's a good job that everyone loves that, because it's been reported that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are going to get married this very Saturday. We know! It clashes with Norwegian Constitution Day! We're so torn!

But what about the details of this Ashlee Simpson/ Pete Wentz marriage extravaganza? Has it been officially confirmed? No. Where will it be held? We don't know. Does this mean that Pete Wentz definitely knocked Ashlee Simpson up? Probably. What if he hasn't? Then they're both idiots. How long will this marriage last, anyway? Probably like a week, maybe.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are probably the most adorable couple who you couldn't give a sloppy plop about in the world right now. But it's OK that you don't care whether Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz live or die, because the love they have for each other is personal and private and special and sacred. We know this because they're all over every single bloody magazine and TV show telling us how private their relationship is all the time, so it must be true. - more on this story

Remy Ma Gets 8 Years in Prison
Reuters reports: Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison on Tuesday for shooting and wounding an acquaintance after discovering money was missing from her purse after a night out in Manhattan.

In sentencing the rapper, criminal court judge Rena Uviller said Remy Ma, whose real name is Remy Smith, was "an extremely angry young woman whose anger is completely out of control."

In March, a New York jury found Smith, nominated for a 2004 Grammy for her part in Terror Squad's song "Lean Back," guilty of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion. - more on this story

Weiland Already Out of Jail
antiMusic reports: A little follow up to yesterday's story about Scott Weiland turning himself into jail to serve his 192 hour sentence for a second DUI that he pleaded no contest to. It appears that Weiland went into jail, was processed and then let go a few minutes later. Think he learned his lesson this time?

TMZ has the details: Scott Weiland was released from jail at 6:54 PM last night after serving only 10 hours out of his 192-hour sentence. His rehab stints last longer!

Weiland turned himself in at 8:55 AM yesterday, was officially booked at just after noon, and then assigned a housing location at 6:41 PM. But that wasn't quite necessary, since he was released just 13 minutes later. - Now for something a bit lighter, read this TMZ report about celeb justice

antiMusic reports: It's now official, Ozzfest the tour is no more. It is now Ozzfest the one day festival. Ozzy and Metallica are heading the lineup which will also include main stage action from Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Hellyeah, Jonathan Davis (Korn), Cavalera Conspiracy, Shadows Fall, Apocalyptica and In This Moment.

The press release says that a special all-star tribute to slain Pantera guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott will also take place on the mainstage when the event takes place on Saturday August 9th in Dallas Texas.

It wouldn't be Ozzfest without a second stage and the line-up there includes Sevendust, Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft and Goatwhore. And they will even have a third stage dedicated "as an homage" to bands from Texas. The Sword, Drowning Pool and Rigor Mortis are set to play that one. - remember the Alamo and click here for more

Morrissey's Revenge
Gigwise reports: Morrissey's feud with the NME has reached new heights after the singer had the magazine's Editor Conor McNicholas ejected from an L.A. hotel.

Morrissey and McNicholas were due to stay in the same hotel last week, independently of one another, when Morrissey learned of the double booking.

Merck Mercuriadis, Morrissey's spokesperson, says, "I have a very good relationship with the hotel, and when I explained the situation they agreed it would not be appropriate for Conor to stay." - But Conor had the last laugh

Weezer CD Coming 3 Weeks Early
antiMusic reports: Leaks can be a good things for fans, aside from the obvious advantage of getting the leaked tracks, it sometimes means they'll be able to legitimately get the full album sooner than expected. Such is the case with Weezer who have moved the release of their new album up.

Here is the official word on the move: The streets can't wait any longer: Buoyed by a single which reached #1 at Modern Rock radio a mere eleven days after its release to the format, and a tidal wave of buzz, Weezer's new, self-titled album on DGC/Interscope Records has had its release date moved up three weeks to June 3. - more on this story

Final Hacienda Brothers Release Set
conqueroo reports: The Hacienda Brothers, whose Western soul sound received worldwide acclaim in the course of the band's five-year history, will release their final album, Arizona Motel, on June 24, 2008, distributed by Proper Records. It's an unexpected memorial to the band's lead singer and original member Chris Gaffney, who tragically passed away on April 17th after a short battle with liver cancer.

The title Arizona Motel reflects the fact that The Hacienda Brothers originated, recorded and wrote the majority of their songs in Tucson, Ariz., even though the band all lived California. Arizona was more of a state of mind than a state of domicile for the Hacienda Brothers. Gaffney had planned to spend his retirement in the state.

Jeb Schoonover, manager, longtime friend and business partner with Gaffney recalls, "Chris had this small but beautiful piece of land out in the desert of Southeastern Arizona. All he wanted out there was a singlewide and a satellite TV. Chris was unpretentious and that's what made him special. In this crazy music business of ours he was one to appreciate the little things like connecting with people and making others laugh. Chris never got caught up with notoriety or having hits, but if you count the number of friends as one's success, then he was truly a superstar."
