Idols To Crock The Hall
antiMusic reports: Talk about a match made in crock n roll heaven. American Idols finalist are going to butcher tracks from a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame list. While this list is far more credible than other crock hall--let's help sell back catalogs- lists, it's doubtful any of the Idols will have the balls to take on "Highway to Hell," we'll more likely get such unforgettable dribble as "Le Freak," "A Teenage in Love," "Hippy Hippy Shake" or "Da Doo Ron Ron" (we always thougth it was run but the Crock Hall says it's ron.)

Here is the fluffed up PR on it: Watch on Tuesday, May 6th at 8/7 central as the top 4 channel their inner rock stars in an attempt to win the viewers hearts. These final four will select and sing a song from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll"; a permanent exhibit showcased at the Museum in Cleveland. The show will also feature footage from the Museum as well as interviews from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation & Museum. - more on this story

Anastasio Live Release Coming
PR reports: Original Boardwalk Style, a live album from Trey Anastasio and the Undectet, will be released on June 10th by Anastasio's Rubber Jungle Records. Proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit the Seven Below Arts Initiative, established to foster artistic development and support arts education in the state of Vermont. The program offers residencies for visual artists at The Barn, a uniquely restored property on 65 acres in Vermont that previously served as the recording studio for Phish, Anastasio and many others.

The album was recorded at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ on December 30th and 31st of 2006, coming at the end of the band's tour - and just 15 days after Anastasio's much-publicized arrest in New York. With his trial looming, the future was uncertain - and he knew these shows were likely to be the last he would play for a long time. - more on this story

The Doughboys Reopen the Garage
PR reports: Pull the car out of the "garage" as everything old becomes new again: The Doughboys have returned! Pioneers of real garage rock, The Doughboys are back together to reclaim their rightful spot as flag bearers of one of the classic genres of rock 'n' roll still influencing musicians today. With their newly recorded, recently released album Is It Now?, the band is revving up for a series of performances in the coming months.

Young bands like the Strokes, The Hives and Jet discovered garage in the early-2000s and began to borrow from one of the original sounds of rock. When tracing these bands' lineage back to the 1960s, one would certainly come across The Doughboys. The only band left standing from America's garage phenomenon; The Doughboys have reunited.

The Doughboys will be taking their show on the road with a series of tour dates throughout the summer. - more on this story

Hole's Samantha Maloney Returns With All Access
PR reports: Samantha Maloney has toured the world drumming for Hole and Motley Crue, produced scores for films including Black Hawk Down, and acted on the silver screen. Now, the sexiest drummer on the rock music scene is taking her talents to web television with maniaTV's new show, All Access. Samantha, along with maniaTV senior music producer and MTV veteran, Amy Finnerty have created a behind-the-scenes show that will take viewers inside the life of major artists and showcase the best new acts in music.

"Most interviews with musicians are incomplete portraits of the people behind the music. All Access is about showing people who these artists really are and what it's like to hang out with them in an intimate setting", said Maloney. "We will have some big names, but we will also introduce the audience to some great bands many wouldn't have the chance to see otherwise."

In the first episodes, Samantha joins The Crystal Method's Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland on location in their Los Angeles studio for a day that includes jam sessions, in-depth storytelling, and shopping for shoes. The 30 minute show also includes a live performance from Australia's Skybombers and a look at custom guitar artist, Stephen McSwain. - more on this story

Horse The Band Now Hiring
antiMusic reports: Horse The Band are looking for a new drummer, but not just any ol' drummer will do. They issued a statement mapping out what they are looking for and Metal Underground was kind enough to publish it:

"Unfortunately Jon, our rental drummer from the Number 12 Looks Like You, needs to go back to perform duties for his real band, so as soon as we get back from the Earth we'll be starting to audition new drummers."

"Obviously you have to be a pretty special character to join this band. We'd prefer someone familiar with the Horse the band lore, but also normal. You have to have touring experience in really horrible conditions (picking up skin diseases from sleeping on floors, being rejected by ugly chicks, not sleeping for 60 hours or more), not think you are cool, not be way into sitting on your laptop in the 'green room', and be a really good drummer. We want someone who can play all sorts of styles really well and prefer someone who keeps it simple sounding while musically compelling and interesting and energetic. " - more on this story

Neville Brothers Family Reunion
AP reports: The Neville Brothers, who traditionally help close out the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, returned to the big stage Sunday for the first time since Hurricane Katrina flooded and wrecked their homes, along with 80 percent of the city.

The brothers — Aaron, Art, Cyril and Charles — performed on the festival's biggest stage in front of an immense crowd that appeared delighted to have them back.

"This is a family reunion," festival producer Quint Davis said in introducing them. "This is the family of New Orleans coming together with the first family of our music." - more on this story

Total F**king Destruction Pull a Radiohead
PR reports: Total F**king Destruction have announced the reissue of the album 'Compact Disc Version 1.0' in sliding scale download format through Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records.

Visitors to the label's website can pay as much or as little as they like - even free - for a high quality mp3 version of this classic album, which comes complete with print-ready artwork and instructions how to make your own sleeve.

The band has issued the following statement about the release: "Total F**king Destruction has observed the coming together of technology and entertainment corporations to steal the soul of underground DIY music. We've witnessed first-hand the effects of corporations posing as 'underground/alternative/extreme' culture and the globalized marketing of 'niche music genre' scene cultures. Total F**king Destruction longs for a world of direct and instant communication between musician and listener. Towards these ends, Total F**king Destruction is honored and totally psyched to join with Moshpit Tragedy Records for a worldwide sliding scale download release of 'Compact Disc Version 1.0'. F**k yeah!"

Before The Quiet of Controlled Bleeding
MVD reports: Controlled Bleeding's 'Before The Quiet' will hit stores on June 10th from MVD and take the listeners back to the early days of the seminal band. Here is a little of the PR about the release:

Although Controlled Bleeding has been and always will be lumped into the genre of old school industrial music, their earliest inspirations were steeped in the first wave of New York City punk bands like The Dictators, Dead Boys, the Ramones and the brooding technical brilliance of King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Henry Cow.

This collection of music from the early formations of the group, infused with the hunger and intensity of youth, clearly illustrates the collision of these seemingly opposing influences. Recordings from 1978-1982, assembled by main man Paul Lemos capture the different early eras of Controlled Bleeding. An incredible peak back into the early days of "anything goes" alternative music. - more on this story
