Idols To Crock The Hall

(antiMusic) Talk about a match made in crock n roll heaven. American Idols finalist are going to butcher tracks from a Crock and Roll Hall of Fame list. While this list is far more credible than other crock hall--let's help sell back catalogs- lists, it's doubtful any of the Idols will have the balls to take on "Highway to Hell," we'll more likely get such unforgettable dribble as "Le Freak," "A Teenage in Love," "Hippy Hippy Shake" or "Da Doo Ron Ron" (we always thougth it was run but the Crock Hall says it's ron.) Here is the fluffed up PR on it: Watch on Tuesday, May 6th at 8/7 central as the top 4 channel their inner rock stars in an attempt to win the viewers hearts. These final four will select and sing a song from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll"; a permanent exhibit showcased at the Museum in Cleveland. The show will also feature footage from the Museum as well as interviews from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation & Museum. Selected by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum curatorial staff and a number of rock critics and historians, these 500 songs are some of rock and roll's most popular and influential recordings. Arranged by artist and song title, the songs cover a variety of musicians and genres illustrating the evolution of rock and roll over the last century. Rock Hall visitors can experience digital jukeboxes of all 500 songs in the Ahmet M. Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall. [didn't take them long to use his name did it?] Five touch-screen computer kiosks with headphones allow access to some of rock's most popular and influential recordings as selected by curators, rock critics and historians. Arranged by artist and decade, the songs cover a variety of musicians and genres and are accompanied by information about the selection and its role in the evolution of rock and roll.
