Billboard reports: In the wake of Lindsey Buckingham's latest solo project, Fleetwood Mac is gearing up for a tour in early 2009 that will likely be followed by a new band album.Buckingham -- who releases "Gift of Screws" on Sept. 16 via Warner Bros. and begins a solo tour Sept. 7 in Saratoga, Calif. -- tells Billboard.com that Fleetwood Mac will convene in January to begin rehearsing for the tour, whose itinerary is currently being assembled. It will be the group's first outing since promoting the "Say You Will" album in 2003 and 2004. Contrary to previous reports, however, the Fleetwood Mac tour will not include Sheryl Crow, who spoke of the possibility of being part of the group while promoting her most recent album, "Detours."

Jam! reports: When the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra warms up a week from Friday, the musicians will be clad in their usual summer attire: White dinner jackets and bow ties for the men, white tops and black skirts or slacks for the women. Tie-dye might be more appropriate. On the day Jerry Garcia would have turned 66, the venerable orchestra will welcome more than 2,000 Deadheads to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall for the world premiere of "Dead Symphony No. 6," the first orchestral work inspired by the music of the Grateful Dead.

PR reports: The biggest band you don't know about...The Slightly Stoopid story can be traced to Ocean Beach, California, when childhood chums Miles and Kyle formed the group in 1995, mixing reggae and punk sounds into one smooth stylistic cocktail. Soon after, late/great Sublime frontman Brad Nowell caught wind of the group, and signed them to his Skunk Records label while the band members were still in high school. For over a decade now, Slightly Stoopid has been supplying its fans with tunes that have served as the perfect summer soundtrack and ultimate live party. So it should be fitting that the group that has been led from the beginning by Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty (who share vocal/guitar/bass duties) - take it to the stage this dog day season for Tailgate 2008 Summer Tour, kicking off in Las Vegas on August 1 and playing some two dozen cities across the country before they wrap up on September 6 in their hometown of San Diego, CA. This will be the band's first-ever sole headlining trek of amphitheatres and will feature Pepper and reggae legends Sly & Robbie. And let's not forget the arrival of the group's tenth release overall - the odds and ends collection "Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid" which was released July 22 on the group's newly formed label, Stoopid Records.

conqueroo reports: Holly Golightly & the Brokeoffs, heralded by NME as "a glorious example of what rock 'n' roll should be," have signed with Transdreamer Records (distributed by MRI Distribution/RED) and are preparing their first American release as a band. Titled Dirt Don't Hurt, the CD is slated for a street date of October 14, 2008. "Band," however, is a figurative term for Holly and company— Holly Golightly and Lawyer Dave (a.k.a. the Brokeoffs) sing and play guitar, as well as drums, banjo, standup bass and an array of other instruments. It's just the two of them. The new, self-produced album was recorded in five days during the middle of a 50-date tour in the town of Gijon on Spain's northern coast, at an analog studio called Circo Perrotti, which is outfitted with vintage recording gear and dedicated to discerning production values. Their music is a lo-fi stew of blues, country and rockabilly, at once avant-garde and old-timey. As Playboy.com says, "Golightly's songs are so fresh and timeless they could have been recorded yesterday or 40 years ago." Entertainment Weekly called her "a truly appealing tunesmith." And BarnesAndNoble.com deemed her "ready for her above-ground closeup."

PR reports: On August 19, 2008, Rounder Records' newly signed band Ten Shekel Shirt will be releasing their latest album titled Jubilee. Lamont Hiebert, the lead singer and songwriter of Ten Shekel Shirt, describes himself as an artist and an abolitionist. As an artist, he's a gifted singer, songwriter and bandleader who evokes comparisons from Snow Patrol to Coldplay to Peter Gabriel for his richly textured music, emotive singing and thoughtful lyrics and who's already sold 150,000 copies of his first two albums. As an abolitionist, he's a committed crusader who interrupted a successful musical career to co-found Love146, a non-profit organization dedicated to help end child slavery and exploitation. Not content to simply write songs about the issue or put on benefit concerts, he created a way to make an actual impact.

Mile High reports: Mutlu's first full-length CD Livin' It, available in-stores and online July 22nd, is proof that the Philly Sound is alive and well. A culmination of 70's soul, R&B and pop, LIVIN' IT was produced by T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates, Elvis Costello) and features special guest performances by Philly's finest including Daryl Hall, Amos Lee and G. Love, as well as rising R&B star Raheem DeVaughn. Philly born and bred, Mutlu started out at local open-mic nights before befriending Blue Note artist Amos Lee who gave him a shot to hit the road. Mutlu has since evolved into his own groove, mixing soulful sounds with a funky beat and enough optimism to raise the collective human roof.

Blabbermouth reports: After trying out guitarists for several months, Society 1 has announced it has found a new guitarist, Los Angeles native Eric Franklin. Raised by his parents on Beethoven, Bach and the "Star Wars" soundtrack, Franklin started his musical journey on the piano at age six. Taught by Juilliard graduate Emilia Guastella, Eric studied classical music for six years. By the age of 12, however, hearing the sounds of BLACK SABBATH, VAN HALEN, GUNS N' ROSES and LED ZEPPELIN blast from his sister's stereo, Eric eventually craved to learn music of a louder persuasion and his longing to play the guitar could not be stopped.

PR reports: Tea Leaf Green released their fifth studio album this week via Surfdog Records. Produced by David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven, Counting Crows), Raise Up The Tent presents eleven expertly-crafted tunes that draw from both the vintage sounds of '70s Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and The Grateful Dead, and the contemporary rock of My Morning Jacket and The Raconteurs. The band has impressed on the stages of Bonnaroo and Rothbury, and shared bills with numerous blockbusters, from storied bills with Dave Matthews Band, to shows in support of Trey Anastasio and Bob Weir. Furthering their reputation as a live treat, Tea Leaf Green will tour in support of the album well into September.

PR reports: In 1995 Grant Peeples hit the pause button on his music career, divested himself of what he owned in America and moved to a remote Caribbean island off the coast of Nicaragua. After ten years of official ex-patriot status there, he sold the small hotel he had built and returned to his native North Florida. Ever since he's been writing about what he found and faced upon his return."It was like I left the house for a while," explains this seasoned Americana artist, "and when I came back some of the furniture had been stolen and the rest had been moved all around." Grant's new release, 'It's Later Than You Think,' his second record since his U.S. homecoming, speaks in a clean, brooding Americana sound, and captures the friction of his re-entry into American culture and society.

Loud, joyous, and innovative, Boris is that rare band that mixes pleasure with progression. The band's trippy yet crushing aesthetic can be many things: poignant, manic, raw, or sparse. The one thing it cannot be, however, is anyone else
