PR reports: Multi-platinum recording artist BARENAKED LADIES will release SNACKTIME, a collection of original children's songs, on May 6, 2008 through their imprint label Desperation Records. The album was produced and mixed by Michael Phillip Wojewoda, who also worked with the band on their debut Gordon."Our collective kids now outnumber the band more than 2 to 1," explains vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson. "We set out to make a record that would be entertaining for them
not strictly a children's record, but a record that children would really enjoy. Our kids are in to all kinds of music. They love the They Might Be Giants kids records, but they also love The Beatles, Fountains of Wayne, Randy Newman, Black Eyed Peas and Green Day. Making the focus about what our kids like was a truly liberating process and fun for the whole band." "Besides, our biological clocks are ticking," jokes drummer Tyler Stewart. "The medical risks associated with releasing children's music after age 40 are well documented, and we thought it best not to put any of our lives in danger." Barenaked Ladies will return to the studio soon to start work on their next full-length album. More details will follow in the coming months.

PR reports: The kudos keep pouring in for Andrew Dice Clay. Not only that, but Dice is still breaking all the rules and proving he is the undisputed heavyweight comedy king. At this year's Pollstar Concert Industry Awards, held February 7th at Nokia Theatre, Dice held the entire audience captive with a totally unplanned and unexpected performance.Dice had agreed to be a presenter and not perform because The Smothers Brothers, who were the hosts, were promised that no other comedians would be performing on the award show besides themselves. That's all Dice had to hear; he swore he was going to make a performance that no one in the audience was going to forget. And you should have seen the horror on the faces from the Award show organizers and some of the presenters backstage like The Smothers Brothers, Donovan, Juliette Lewis and Debbie Gibson. The only thing Tommy Smothers could muster after Dice's impromptu performance was, "What the f**k!"

antiMusic reports: MTV Headbanger's Ball recently featured Bad Brains as their artist of the week. Some Bad Brains fans were not amused. "come on bad brains, dont dont go to that mtv bull @?%~, there just going to sucker you guys into things. little by little mtv is going to sucker you guy into palying different," posted one fan.The site featured a week of content on the band including some clips of the band jamming with System of a Down's Shavo, which seemed to go over badly with the Bad Brains fans that posted on site. "what the ~#~* is bad brains thinking playing with that shot dude from soad. so whack!," wrote Stephanie. The special was to promote their latest album Build A Nation and Shavo directed the first video from the offering. According to their label, the concept captures punk and reggae. Thus, the main punk video "Give Thanks And Praises" merges into the dub reggae of "Jah Love."

PR reports: Kathleen Edwards' eagerly anticipated new album 'Asking For Flowers' (Zoe/Rounder Records) hits stores March 4, but one superfan can hear it - and a whole lot more - even sooner. Edwards is auctioning a brand new 160GB iPod stocked with her entire recorded output - her three albums for Rounder and compilation tracks - plus alternate takes and two previously unreleased songs. The iPod will also contain all four of Edwards' music videos, photos, and a featurette on the making of 'Asking for Flowers.' Its case will feature a one-of-a-kind 'Asking for Flowers' engraving, and the winning bidder will be eligible for two free tickets to any Kathleen Edwards show in 2008. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will benefit The Alicia Ross Memorial Fund, and its partner program Project C.A.N.O.E. (Creative and Natural Outdoor Experience Inc.). Ross, a young woman from Toronto, was the subject of one of the most extensive missing person searches in Canadian history in 2005, before it was discovered that she was brutally murdered by her next door neighbor. Edwards recorded a song about Ross on 'Asking for Flowers,' the royalties from which will also be donated to Project C.A.N.O.E.

PR reports: Dustin O'Halloran, also known as one-half of the acclaimed duo Devics, has revealed himself as a highly individual musical virtuoso with his new collection of stunning instrumental piano sonatas, "Piano Solos vol. 2." The classically-inspired pieces prompted Grammy-winning K.D. Lang to invite O'Halloran on tour with her this spring, beginning in Toronto, February 21."Piano Solos vol. 2," is a timeless array of concertos that fluidly cascade from serene to demanding, seemingly crying out to tell a story with each note. The cinematic opus unravels as if allowing a glimpse into O'Halloran's soul, or a soundtrack to his memories. The heart-swelling compositions appear fragile, yet haunting, capturing moments of melancholic bliss, brimming with introspection. With both the recent Devics albums as well as his stunning piano pieces getting radio play on the likes of L.A.'s highly-influential KCRW, O'Halloran is now getting the attention he's long deserved.
