Blue Merle's Luke Reynolds Returns with Solo Debut
PR reports: Luke Reynolds, former Blue Merle front man, returns as Pictures And Sound with a self-titled debut album, August 19th on Vanguard Records. In 2005, Reynolds found success with Blue Merle's well-received album and smash hit, Burning In The Sun. Blue Merle has since parted ways allowing Pictures And Sound to flourish.

Reynolds, who played a dozen instruments on the Pictures And Sound album including pedal steel, guitars and keyboards, is joined by his friends Dave Wilder (Macy Gray, Liz Phair) on bass and Pete McNeal (Jem, Z-Trip, Ricki Lee Jones) on drums, to create an album that is modern in its arrangements and soundscapes yet a throw back to an era when songs were written and recorded in a more organic atmosphere.

The ten tracks, produced by Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Tom Waits, Kings of Leon) were written over a two and a half year period where Reynolds lead a nomadic lifestyle writing in cities around the world from Barcelona, Spain to the United Kingdom to Los Angeles to Bristol, Vermont. - more on this story

Radiohead Animated Video Contest Winners
PR reports: Radiohead, aniBoom and TBD Records have named the winners of the In Rainbows Animated Music Video Contest, as selected by the members of Radiohead themselves.

Due to the extraordinary quality of the submissions, Radiohead decided to choose four winning videos, rather than a single winner, and is going to provide the additional prize money so that each of the four creators receives $10,000 to produce their full-length video. The winning video clip submissions and their creative teams are:

"15 Step V2.0" by Kota Totori, Japan, for the song "15 Step" (http://www.aniboom.com/video/236519/15-step-v2.0/)

"16 Tracks Vs. Videotape 2.0" by Wolfgang Jaiser and Claus Winter, Germany, for the song "Videotape" (http://www.aniboom.com/video/236713/16tracks-vs-videotape-2.0/)

Earth, Wind & Fire Live In Japan CD/DVD Set Coming
Kayos reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Earth, Wind & Fire Live In Japan in a specially-packaged two-disc CD/DVD set on August 26.

Surely, one of the most successful, dynamic and creative funk bands ever to come out of the 1970s, Earth, Wind & Fire, led by singer/songwriter/producer Maurice White, is captured in this double-disc set on CD and DVD in 1990 during White's final tour with the band after a sterling 19-year run as band leader where the former drummer proved to be the incredible entertainer he ultimately became.

Touring in support of 1990's Heritage album, the show, in front of thousands of adoring and unusually demonstrative Japanese fans, is a tour-de-force of the power, the artistry, the elegance, and the soul of this all-time great funk machine. Spectacularly staged, and beautifully filmed, Live In Japan stands as the ultimate testament to a band whose music will never die.

. October File - Holy Armour from the Jaws of God
The majority of the cuts on offer here usually tend towards the powerful rather than the pathetic, as truly great punk and all its derivatives do. Holy Armour from the Jaws of God is not exactly snatched direct from the divine but it sure comes fairly close. - Read the full October File - Holy Armour from the Jaws of God review
