antiMusic reports: We continue our look at outstanding artists this week with Mike Mangione. This critically acclaimed Midwestern singer/songwriter's latest new album "Tenebrae" is getting a wide release this week and we caught up with Mike to tell us a little bit about his favorite tracks from the album. Here he is with today's song: The Killing Floor: We recorded this on the fly live. I wrote this a day before we entered the studio so no one in the band knew it. We wanted to keep as much of the album live so, like all other songs on the record, we stood at our respected spots in the warehouse we recorded at, I shared the chords and changes and we pressed record. After the second time through the song we all understood how it was supposed to sound. We realized the song is one hundred percent feeling and vibe. After the second take we said we were ready to do it for real, Duane Lundy our producer replied, I think we just did. We kept the second take and I added some harmonies. There is so much bleed in the microphones going on in this song that you could turn all the tracks down except for one and it would sound the same. The song is about Good, it transcends all things no matter how dark it can get. Hearing is believing so preview some songs from the album, learn more about Mike, grab tour dates and more right

Big Hassle reports: Weezer announced today a North American tour in support of their top ten album Weezer (referred to as the Red Album). Starting September 23 at the Tsongas Center in Boston, the band will embark on a five week tour including dates in New York City at Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles' Great Western Forum. This is the band's first tour in three years. Drummer Pat Wilson announced, "if you want to rock, you know where to find us!" Weezer (Red Album) is the band's boldest album, sonically and lyrically, fearlessly reaching places never before heard in popular music. The Red Album's first single "Pork and Beans" just spent 11 weeks at #1 at Modern Rock radio (the longest streak for a song in 2008) and it's accompanying video has been viewed on Youtube over ten million times. The song is about self-empowerment, where people are urged to follow their instincts as exemplified by the lyrics "I'm a do the things that I want to do/I ain't got a thing to prove to you."Recently Weezer, with the help of local radio stations, has been reaching out to musicians to create "Hootenannys" across the country. An idea hatched by lead singer Rivers Cuomo (after his mom explained how music was often spread in the good ole days) fans were hand-picked and told to bring their instruments to an unusual location where audience and band become one and jam on Weezer classics and cover songs.

antiMusic reports: We received another AC/DC "announcement" from someone claiming to be "sonymusic customer service management" but is using a Yahoo email account. Our contact at Sony never heard of this person and suggested they may be an intern but if that's the case it's a very informed intern and a quick search of Google finds that this person has been sending these "announcements" out for over a year. We've passed on a few of this person's updates in the past as they seemed plausible and our contact at Sony didn't deny them. However, regular readers will remember that we also warned that the information came from a suspicious source (contrary to what a blogger claims, we never posted it a "official" news and always included the warning about its source). Now this person is spreading "news" that really stretches credibility, especially in light of the official announcement about the upcoming tour, so we thought we should warn you in case you read it as "real" news somewhere else. Here is what was sent to us today: Due to the band's desire to start their new world tour not in 2009 but in 2010, on the 30th anniversary of "Back In Black" album, the new AC/DC album tentatively titled "Dirty Rhythm" will not be released until the end of the next year.Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd are extremely sorry for those disappointing news, but that was the decision they had to make. Be sure to check out acdc.com in a few days for more information regarding AC/DC's new album and world tour. Why someone would feel the need to spread such rumors is anyone's guess but there you have it. We'll keep posted on real AC/DC developments as we know a lot of you are excited about the new album and tour!
- In the meantime, Blabbermouth has posted what are suggested to be clips from the new album. Check em out.

antiMusic reports: "With every new record, [My Ruin] becomes like a prize fighter locked in a gym pumping weights all day. Muscle builds on muscle until the fighting machine is an unstoppable force. My Ruin's new CD Throat Full of Heart is a nuclear right hook that combines the culmination of years of experience along with their unquenchable thirst for release through the power of metal. It's tough to imagine My Ruin sounding any better than this," that's what our very own Morley Seaver had to say about this album. You'll be able to decide for yourself in a couple weeks when it hits stores. Here is the announcement: Los Angeles-based hard rock band My Ruin has set an August 19, 2008 US release date for its new album, Throat Full Of Heart, on the group's own imprint Rovena Recordings in association with Redeye USA/Cargo Records UK. Throat Full of Heart was released earlier this year in the UK and Europe and was co-produced by My Ruin guitarist Mick Murphy along with producer/engineer Duane Burda. The album was recorded at The Hobby Shop in Highland Park, CA, which was built by and is owned by producers Mudrock and Scott Gilman. Throat Full Of Heart, to be released in digipak, includes My Ruin's first official DVD as well as two music videos for the tracks "Religiosity," created by Nasty & Sinister, and "Ready for Blood" which was directed by Ben LeVine who previously directed My Ruin's 2003 video for "Make To Measure" from the release The Horror Of Beauty while the band was on Century Media. The 2 ½ hour DVD features bonus footage and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the song "Ready for Blood." The disc will also include a mini-movie of the band with never-before-seen footage from the studio as well as a mini movie created by vocalist Tairrie B which documents her horrific car accident which took place on September 29, 2006 - from the injury to her recovery this past year.
