antiMusic reports: Billy Howerdel made a big name for himself with A Perfect Circle, but he's not one to sit around as his APC bandmates tool around with other projects. So Billy started ASHES dIVIDE and their debut album, 'Keep Telling Myself It's Alright,' hits stores this week. We caught up with Billy and asked him to tell us a little bit about his favorite tracks from the CD. Here is Billy with today's song "Forever Can Be": Yeah, musically it was first called "Toy" because I wrote it with my son's toy guitar in the beginning. It's funny, as that song got mixed, it was the last song that got mixed, and it was the last song to get done. We had Alan Moulder mixing the record and my due date as Friday, it was our last day of mixing, and I monitored the mix here in LA as he mixed it in London, there was only a second and a half delay, and it was the first time he really did that and it was an interesting process. Learn more about the album and the band, preview some of the songs, and grab tour dates (they're on Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour)

antiMusic reports: The exit door had no sooner hit Scott Weiland on the backside when his ex-bandmates in Velvet Revolver opened the door to the studio. They're already hard at work on new music. Blabbermouth has the story: Duff McKagan has posted a message on the web site of his side project Loaded stating that VR has finished "laying down 12 new jams" at the studio of the group's drummer, Matt Sorum. No further details were provided. Velvet Revolver announced that it was parting ways with singer Scott Weiland on April 1 due to his "increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems." In other news, McKagan has hinted on the Loaded web site that the band he formed after he left Guns N' Roses is planning on hitting the road later in the year. "UK, you up for a late summer/early fall tour? Spain? Italy?" he wrote on the site.

idolator reports: The worst-kept secret in rock became less of a secret today, when Green Day dropped MTV a line confirming that, yes, they were the same band as the Foxboro Hot Tubs, whose song "Mother Mary" hit the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart a few weeks back. "We think that the only similarity [between the Hot Tubs and Green Day] is that we are the same band. That is basically the only similarity," the band's e-mail said. Why did the Bay Area trio decide to make this announcement? I asked Corporate Rock Still Sells columnist Al Shipley if he had any theories, and you may be unsurprised to learn that they mostly involve marketing. "['Mother Mary'] just dropped off the Modern chart this week," Al said to me via IM. "I guess this'll get it back on there pretty quickly now... the album release is still three weeks away, so maybe they were getting nervous that interest has already peaked.

antiMusic reports: Can't get no satisfaction from crunk wine? More in the mood for a classic taste? Or have taste? There is good news, you'll soon be able to get stoned on the Rolling Stones' satanic icewine. Jam! has the report: A winery in B.C.'s Okanagan Valley is teaming up with the Rolling Stones - but they're not making music, they're making icewine. Ex Nihilo Vineyards, in Okanagan Centre north of Kelowna, will be producing a limited release of an icewine labelled in honour of the Stones' hit "Sympathy for the Devil."
- Supplies are very limited and it'll cost you.

antiMusic reports: We now have confirmation that AC/DC is definitely recording a new album. We even know who is producing and engineering the effort. This news comes from a rather unexpected source, Supersuckers frontman Eddie Spaghetti. See Eddie took to his band's website to explain what is holding up the new Supersuckers CD. Seems that AC/DC is borrowing their producer. Here is what Eddie had to say: I'm sure you're all wondering, "where the hell is that new 'suckers record?", well rest assured it IS coming. It's just taking a little longer than we expected to get done. Our current snag is that the producer of the new record wants to make some last minute tweaks and, well, he can't right now. He's been detained by a little Australian band called, uh, AC/DC. That's right our man Billy Bowers, who did such a stellar job on our "Paid" E.P., is an engineer for Brendan O'Brian who is producing the new AC/DC record and so he's been taken away from our project temporarily. But he assures us that, as soon as he can, he will have the mixes done and that they will rock mightily so we have to just be content with that for now. In the meantime, we will be keeping busy rocking the free world and you can come and get your fix of the new material at one of our many rock shows coming up in the near future at a location near you, I'm sure.

PR reports: As they prepare to release their new CD Anthems For The Damned May 13 via Pulse Recordings, Filter have announced their first tour in nearly six years. The first leg of this U.S. trek--a mix of headlining shows, radio festivals and special engagements--begins April 24 at Stubb's in Austin, Texas, to be followed by three June shows overseas in Germany and the U.K. Earlier this month, Filter made a special appearance for the troops in Kuwait when they performed at the March 10 Operation MySpace concert. While on tour, Filter will preview songs from Anthems For The Damned alongside such Filter classics as "Hey Man, Nice Shot," "Take a Picture" and others. Anthems For The Damned --produced by Pulse Recording head Josh Abraham--features the first single "Soldiers of Misfortune". The first-person narrative was inspired by a letter from a Filter fan who had enlisted in the Army reserves to get his college tuition paid; in his final year of college, he was shipped off to Iraq where he died from a rocket attack and small arms fire after just a few days of duty. [This is a sad story but that's part of what you agree to when you ask the military to pay for your education.]

PR reports: The debut full-length 'Help Wanted' from Eric Avery, seminal bassist and co-founder of Jane's Addiction, was released this week by L.A.'s Dangerbird Records (Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf, Darker My Love). In support, Avery is making his rounds across the States, stopping at designated radio stations, to discuss this beautifully dark collection, his previous projects and any additional musings the articulate artist cares to share. On FRIDAY, APRIL 11, Avery will spend some time with shock jock and morning madman, MANCOW, which is sure to inspire some interesting dialogue. Upon return, Avery will join his former Jane's bandmate DAVE NAVARRO on his weekly "Spread TV" show on maniaTV, Thursday, April 17 at 11pm EST. Although the two have remained long-term friends, this is the first time Avery and Navarro will appear together on camera since the Jane's breakup. With their shared experiences in Jane's as well as Deconstruction, nothing will be off limits in this setting for candid, free-form conversation. Links and archived episodes can be seen here

antiMusic reports: A couple quick rap stories for you. Snoop has settle a lawsuit with his former label and a DMX frat party ended like you would expect when you mix a frat party and a rapper, with cops and mace. AP reports that Snoop "and Priority Records have settled a lawsuit involving fees and advances for a 1998 recording agreement, attorneys for both sides said Wednesday. "The rapper sued the company in November 2006, alleging it owes him $2 million in fees under the recording agreement and did not consult with him before releasing his greatest hits CD." DMX held a concert at a Indiana University frat house on Wednesday but the cops pulled the plug on the show and when the roudy crown got a bit too roudy they got a bit of mace. Billboard said of the incident, "Police shut the show down at 9:30, removing DMX from the stage after only three songs. Witnesses said students began to rush the stage and police attempted to calm the situation with mace."
