antiMusic reports: It turns out that Mastodon
guitarist Brent Hinds' mysterious head injury suffered following the MTV
Video Music Awards wasn't inflicted by random thugs, it seems the injuries
that landed him in a Las Vegas hospital came courtesy of System of a Down
bassist Shavo Odadjian and musician by the name of William Hudson.
A quick refresher for those that do not
remember the original report, Hinds suffered brain hemorrhaging, a broken
nose, and two black eyes as a result of the beating. The Las Vegas weekly
did some digging and found out more about the incident as well as who is
involved, they report: "an inebriated Hinds was leaving Mandalay Bay around
3 a.m. when he encountered Odadjian and musician William Hudson at the
hotel's west valet area. Hinds took off his shirt and hit Odadjian with
it, then struck Hudson in both the face and chest, prompting Odadjian to
advise Hinds 'to relax,' several times.
"The police report then indicates both
Odadjian and Hudson punched Hinds in the face, knocking him to the ground.
An unidentified friend of Hinds, who reportedly witnessed the event, rushed
to the musician's aid and apologized to Odadjian and Hudson, saying Hinds
was 'just drunk,' according to the police report. Odadjian and Hudson were
both questioned by police on the scene. No charges had been filed at press
time, though the police report lists Hudson as a 'suspect,' facing a possible
charge of 'battery with substantial bodily harm.' The police report lists
Odadjian as a 'witness.'"- Read

Hecklerspray reports: The Meg White sex tape
- or what we thought was a Meg White sex tape - exploded onto the internet
yesterday. A low-quality two-minute video of a dumpy girl staring dead-eyed
into a camera as a bloke shoves his fingers in her mouth and his thingummy
up her whatsit, the apparent Meg White sex tape briefly united the planet
in an orgy of careful monitor-peering, debates about whether the girl was
Meg White or not and absolutely no sexual reaction whatsoever. By anyone.
But now Meg White's rep has come forward
to put us out of our misery - and trust us, the Meg White sex tape made
us pretty miserable - by pointing out that the whole Meg White sex tape
thing is a fake. Meg's rep tells TMZ, "Some people have a very twisted
sense of humor and this prank is in particularly bad taste. The tape circulating
on the Internet as featuring Meg White is fake. It's definitely not Meg."
Yes, the Meg White sex tape prank is in
particularly bad taste, for so many different reasons. ...Meg White is
suffering from anxiety - although now we aren't sure if it's a genuine
medically-diagnosed anxiety or just the sort of anxiety you get when you
discover a woman who looks like a slightly uglier version of you is having
sex on the internet - and rumours of a Meg White sex tape aren't exactly
going to help her recovery.

antiMusic reports: As we reported yesterday,
a photo owned by Elton John has sparked a child porn investigation in the
UK. Elton's website posted a statement about the photo in question and
says that it has been exhibited around the world without issue in the past.
Here is the statement: The photograph entitled "Klara and Edda belly-dancing"
(1998) is one of 149 images comprising the "Thanksgiving" installation
by renowned US photographer Nan Goldin.
The photograph exists as part of the installation
as a whole and has been widely published and exhibited throughout the world.
It can be found in the monograph of Ms Goldin's works entitled "The Devil's
Playground" (Phaidon, 2003), has been offered for sale at Sotheby's New
York in 2002 and 2004, and has previously been exhibited in Houston, London,
Madrid, New York, Portugal, Warsaw and Zurich without any objections of
which we are aware.- more

antiMusic reports: It's not a poorly written
Fox nighttime soap from McGeek although it may seem very similar to one.
No, it's the life of pop singer Britney Spears and in this week's episode
the falling pop tart gets criminally charged with hit and run and driving
without a license after hitting a parked car and driving off on her marry
way. Maybe she was late to lip-synching practice?
Apparently Spears played bumper Mercedes
outside a vitamin store in Studio City back on August 6th. Her Mercedes
reportedly dinged a parked Mercedes and she was photographed getting out
of her car to examine the damage before she decided to hit the road. The
owner of the car that Britney hit, hoped that the poptart would somehow
do the right thing and make good on the damages but after three days, gave
up hope and filed a police report. - more

antiMusic reports: Richie Ramone "Can't Say
Anything Nice" about the songs from his short tenure in The Ramones being
licensed for online sales with him not getting a cut. He filed a lawsuit
again leading online music merchants, the estate of late guitarist Johnny
Ramone, the music publishing company and the band's management company.
Richie, real name Richard Reinhardt claims
in his lawsuit filed in the federal court in Manhattan that he is the author
of six Ramones songs - "Smash You," "Somebody Put Something In My Drink,"
"Human Kind," "I'm Not Jesus," "I Know Better Now" and "(You) Can't Say
Anything Nice."
His lawsuit is seeking "at least $900,000
in damages, all profits the defendants made from the songs, and a permanent
injunction prohibiting the defendants from using the songs in the future,"

antiMusic reports: Can't make it to Metallica's
unplugged appearances at this year's Bridge School benefit concerts next
month? You're in luck as the band plan to offer recordings of their performances
online on their official bootleg site livemetallica.com. Here is the brief
announcement from the band:
"We're still stuck in the studio, but when
we were invited to participate in the 21st Annual Bridge School shows,
we just couldn't say 'no'. We're going to record both nights (October 27th
and 28th at Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View, CA) and have them (at
www.livemetallica.com) for you shortly after.
"It's an acoustic show that NEIL YOUNG
puts together each year in the Bay Area, and this is the second time for
us. And all proceeds from the sale of downloads from these two shows will
go to the Bridge School."- more

antiMusic reports: The bad news is that Richie
Sambora is reportedly back in rehab. The good news is he won't likely be
the only celebrity in group therapy as he's checked into the same facility
as teenybopper star Lindsay Lohan. Maybe she'll talk him into appearing
on her next album? Are maybe they'll ride off into the sober sunset together
on his "steel horse"?
The Bon Jovi guitarist first entered rehab
in June to treat a drinking problem that some fans reported at the time
came to a head during the taping of a performance for MTV Unplugged. He
received the spin dry treatment at the UCLA Medical Center but apparently
the week long treatment wasn't enough. At the time his spokesperson told
People.com "Richie Sambora has completed a program at the UCLA Medical
Center. He is doing well and continues to receive outside support."
Apparently that "overnight" treatment requires
an additional rehab stint at another facility. This time he checked into
Cirque Lodge in Utah, which is the same rehab facility where Lindsay Lohan
is currently receiving treatment.- more

antiMusic reports: Remember a couple weeks
ago when Sharon Osbourne blamed Courtney Love, not her parenting skills,
for turning her son into a drug addict? Courtney heard the allegations
and has some rather strong words for the eggtosser.
Osbourne first accused Love of turning
her son Jack onto Hillbilly Heroin (OxyContin). She said at the time "My
dislike towards her (Love) is very personal. I'm not saying Jack wouldn't
have taken it if she hadn't given it to him, but I'm appalled an adult
mother would give that to a 15-year-old boy."
Never one to hold back on her thoughts,
Love reportedly told the London Eye: "I never did that. I would never give
drugs to a teenager. F*ck you Sharon, as if I would ever give drugs to
a teenager." But her supposed new boyfriend isn't above giving crack to
kittens if- reports

antiMusic reports: Alice Cooper guitarist
Keri Kelly sent us over a quick update and reports that "Everything is
well oiled and chugging away out here on the road. The last few weeks on
the Heaven and Hell/Queensryche tour have truly been killer!" But more
importantly he kicked down some dates the Alice Cooper Halloween tour as
well as their trip to Europe in November.
The Heaven and Hell tour will soon come
to an end but Alice can't let the Halloween season go by without playing
for his fans. They'll kick off those festivities with an appearance at
the Scream Awards on October 19th and then head directly to Birmingham,
Al to kick off the Halloween tour with Phoenix fans getting the coveted
Halloween show! But other locals along the way will also be treated by
Alice this Halloween season.
Then the band head over to Europe and Russia
for a string of dates in late November. That tour kicks off with a two
night stand in Moscow on Nov 20th and 21st. They'll then travel to Finland
for three dates, and one offs in Sweden, Denmark, Latvia and Estonia. -

antiMusic reports: Make no mistake America,
Congress really cares about kids! Today they held a hearing tackling the
number one issue facing young Americans. No, it's not toxic toys (and food)
imported from China, it's not the coming Social Security crash, it's not
an announcement that they will stop buying special interest votes by placing
crushing debt on the younger generation ($400 K for a child born today)
to fund their "programs", it definitely wasn't the overcrowding of schools
and drop in the quality of education due to illegal immigration, and it's
not even a bill to stop the exporting of millions of jobs. It's a far more
important issue that threatens our future. That's right, the House held
a hearing about rap lyrics.
The House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade,
and Consumer Protection held a hearing on Tuesday to examine the most important
issue facing the nation, hip-hop. "Our representatives" heard stirring
testimony from rappers about what is wrong and what is right with hip-hop.
Master P couldn't apologize fast enough for using the word "bitch" in some
of his past songs.
On the other side of the coin, rapper David
Banner says he is just keeping it real. "I'm like (author) Stephen King:
horror music is what I do," he said according to Contact music. "If by
some stroke of the pen, hip-hop was silenced, the issues would still be
present in our communities. Drugs, violence and the criminal element were
around long before hip-hop existed."
If you are so inclined you can write your
"representative" and tell them how much you appreciate them looking at
the important issues instead of the frivolous ones. You'll find the contact
information - right

antiMusic reports: Leading BitTorrent site
The Pirate Bay has launched an offensive against media companies that they
say have been trying to bring them down by illegal means including hacking,
spamming and denial of service attacks. The Netherlands based company announced
last week that they have filed criminal complains against the Swedish divisions
of several major media companies including three leading music labels.
Here is their announcement: Thanks to the
email-leakage from MediaDefender-Defenders we now have proof of the things
we've been suspecting for a long time; the big record and movie labels
are paying professional hackers, saboteurs and ddosers to destroy our trackers.
While browsing through the email we identified
the companies that are also active in Sweden and we have tonight reported
these incidents to the police. The charges are infrastructural sabotage,
denial of service attacks, hacking and spamming, all of these on a commercial
level.
The [music]companies that are being reported
are the following:Emi Music Sweden AB, Universal Music Group Sweden AB,
Sony Bmg Music Entertainment (Sweden) AB

antiMusic reports: It's good to see that some
things never change. Even though they are a few years past their heyday,
Puddle of Mudd's Wes Scantlin is still a bozo. Puddle of Mudd's Famous
comes out on October 9th and what a perfect way to hype your new CD then
to get banned from Graceland for doing something really stupid like jumping
into the Kings pool because you just feel like it.
The hype or rather announcement reads:
Puddle of Mudd has been banned from Graceland! The band was touring the
mansion of Elvis Presley on September 24th when front man Wesley Scantlin
decided to jump into the pool. The guards removed him and he is now banned
from Graceland for life!
"I just wanted to go for a swim," he said.

antiMusic reports: The Sex Pistols have extending
their reunion plans once again after the initial show and subsequent shows
sold out. Two more dates were added to what has now become a reunion tour
to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Never Mind The Bollocks" album.
So as of now it looks like the Pistols
will play the Brixton Academy in London on November 8th, 9th and 10th with
a new show added for the 12th. They will then play Manchester's MEN Arena
on November 17th.
Tickets for the new shows went on sale
Friday. More than doubling the prices didn't hurt sales any with a lot
of rich punks wanting to witness the Sex Pistols perform.-

antiMusic reports: 50 Cent didn't have what
it takes to beat Kanye West but Reba sure did. While he still has the biggest
ego in popular music but Kanye West is no longer king of the charts after
a 76% drop in sales he was dethroned from the top of the charts after only
one week by country queen Reba McEntire's star-studded new effort "Reba
Duets."
"Reba Duets" sold 301,000 copies last week
according to Nielsen SoundScan data released by Billboard magazine. Kanye's
"Graduation" landed at No. 2 with sales of 226,000 copies which helped
him again beat 50 Cent. Fiddy's "Curtis" suffered an almost 80% drop in
sales with 143,000 sold last week to earn him 3rd place.
Kenny Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets &
Pirates" rounded out the top 5 with 112,000 in sales. James's Blunt's sophomore
effort "All the Lost Souls," sold 92,000 copies to debut at No. 7 while
Chamillionaire's "Ultimate Victory" placed a distant 8th with 79,000 first
week sales. KT Tunstall's second effort, "Drastic Fantastic," debuted at
No. 9 after selling 50,000 in the US. and Twista sold 41,000 copies of
his new one "Adrenaline Rush 2007" to finish out the top 10.-

antiMusic reports: Celebrity Justice in the
US continues it's losing streak with prosecutors failing to convict another
celeb. This time "Wall of Sound" record producer Phil Spector convinced
enough of the jurors in his murder trial that the victim died of suicide
to deadlock the jury. And authorities are also investigating a Myspace
murder threat against the judge.
The judge in the trial declared a mistrial
after the jury declared they were hopelessly deadlocked. But prosecutors
haven't given up, they plan to take Spector to trial again where he faces
15 years to life if found guilty of murdering "b" movie actress Lana Clarkson
at his home in 2003. Meanwhile, the judge in the case, Larry Paul Fidler,
is taking some heat online with Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
investigating a murder threat posted on Myspace. - more

Gigwise reports: A man has died after an incident
in the crowd at a Smashing Pumpkins concert in Vancouver on Monday (September
24th). Police say the man was unconscious when he was pulled from the crowd
after becoming involved in either a moshing or crowd surfing incident.
He was then taken to the side of the stage
at the PNE Forum where first aid personnel worked on him before he was
transferred to St. Paul's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Const. Howard Chow said that police had
"determined that there wasn't any foul play or suspicious circumstances
involved," but admitted that the death "could" have been the result of
an out of control mosh-pit.- more

antiMusic reports: KNAC contributor Jeff Kerby
has posted his exclusive interview with Sammy Hagar where he addresses
a lot of issue including the current reunion tour that doesn't include
Michael Anthony but he also talks some of the dynamics within the band
and how they changed bringing about his exit. But he ends on a positive
note about the current incarnation of Van Halen. Here is the exchange -
KNAC.COM: Do you think that Van Halen just got too lucky when you replaced
David Lee Roth? Do you think they deluded themselves into thinking they
could just trot anyone up there and have the same type of success?
HAGAR: I don't know, when you say Van
Halen here, what you're really talking about is Eddie. Alex sticks by him
because that's his brother, and I love Alex for it. I would never try to
come between those guys. Those guys are brothers, and they are the end
of a line in a way. Their parents have passed, and it's tough. Mine have
too, but I've got other brothers and sisters and uncles, but they are pretty
alone. They are very close, and I think that's awesome, but I think it's
Eddie that makes those kinds of decisions.
In the old days, it wasn't like Eddie was
going, "it's my band this is what I want!" When I was in the band, it was
our band, and everyone did what they wanted. For the good of Van Halen,
I wasn't looking to be a solo artist, and Eddie wasn't looking to control
everything. Instead, everyone did whatever they wanted to do in that band
and it worked. When it stopped working, it broke up. Since then, its like
Eddie says, "this is my band," and it is, so he can do whatever he wants,
but I think if they wouldn't have got Dave back, they would have been in
trouble. The only thing I can say that may sound like sour grapes is that
without Dave or myself, Van Halen isn't going to be the big, mighty arena
act, and that's all there is to it. If he wants to go out there and just
be an instrumentalist and just get whatever singer he feels like, he's
gonna be down here doing what I'm doing playing theaters in most cities
and be lucky if he's selling them out. For him to keep rolling with the
mighty Van Halen, he needs either Dave or myself. They've been trying to
get with Dave, since they threw me out in 95'. Then, they hadn't done anything
until I came back. Now, they have Dave again, and I wish them the best
because I think it's their only hope. It's the right thing.

antiMusic reports: Kanye West is really enjoyable.
Not so much his banal music but it's always a kick to witness his tantrums
and the hilarious displays of his enormous ego. We now may have a glimpse
into where that outrageously overblown ego has come from. That's right,
it all starts in the home and Kanye's mother has likened that rapper to
some of the greatest men in history like Jesus, Gandhi and Martin Luther
King Jr.
Kanye's mother told the Baltimore Sun,
"I do think that Kanye is a voice that can definitely be used and should
be used not only in hip-hop but across the arts, period. I think he is
broader than a genre... I think he has a calling to reach a number of people.
Kanye keeps it real. He touches the people.... You never know how words
can save a person's life, physically or otherwise. People like Martin Luther
King or Mahatma Gandhi or, in my view, Barack Obama, or Jesus Christ -
people whose job it is to tell the truth - I see that in Kanye."
That's right Kanye's enlightening truth
such as "You could be my black Kate Moss tonight / Play secretary, I'm
the boss tonight. / And you don't give a f**k what they all say, right?
/ Awesome, the Christian in Christian Dior" has been compared to Martin
Luther King's dream and Jesus' sermon on the mount. The Obama one seems
fitting though when you consider all of the hype over substance. Of course
this came from his mother but she believes it as this final quote tells
us, "Now, people like you are gonna go, 'Oh, Kanye's mom said he's like
Jesus!' but
when you have a gift, you didn't get it by yourself.
Your
truth is your truth."
If only we were all given the gift of being
able to rhyme tonight with tonight, then we could change the world! He's
still no John Lennon- See
Gigwise for the context of the quote as we were having too much fun to
include it.

antiMusic reports: The 2008 nominees for the
"aging hippies annual let's pat our selves on the back and be a symbol
for everything rock n roll is not" have been announced. For the less cynical
and pro black tie affair-Rolling Stone readers, we're talking about the
"Rock and Roll Hall of Fame". This year's nominees are Afrika Bambaataa,
Beastie Boys, Chic, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, Madonna, John Mellencamp,
Donna Summer and The Ventures. Yes, it looks like Rockwell was snubbed
again this year. So apparently no one is watching him.
Out of that bunch five inductees will be
announced in January and the incredibly un-rock n roll induction ceremony
will take place on March 10, 2008. Here is the official press release (with
a little of the BS taken out): The nominations for 2008 induction into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced today. The nine nominees
are: Afrika Bambaataa, Beastie Boys, Chic, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark
Five, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer and The Ventures. Ballots
with these nominees will be sent to over 500 "voters" who will choose the
acts for inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for this year. Five
new inductees will be honored at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
induction ceremony on March 10, 2008 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New
