PR reports: Hear ye! Hear ye! Donita Sparks,
front person extraordinaire for the legendary rock band L7, hits the road
backed by her new band The Stellar Moments for a five-week tour with The
Donnas. The last time Sparks was on tour was in 2000 with L7. Today she
finds herself in the midst of her first national solo tour ever that began
September 19 at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and ends
October 27 at The Roxy in her hometown of Los Angeles.

gems that sees Donita moving solidly into interesting new territories.

PR reports: Steve Moore, best known for his
work as one half of the sci-fi instrumental duo Zombi, has announced the
forthcoming release of his first solo effort The Henge via extreme music
label Relapse Records (Mastodon, Pig Destroyer, High On Fire.) In contrast
to Zombi's tightly structured nightmare epics, The Henge is a huge, sprawling,
psychedelic symphonic affair. Over the course of its five tracks, the album
treats listeners to a blissful dose of audio vertigo, by mixing vast ambient
dronescapes and soaring beat driven melodies with Moore's patented cinematic
brand of keyboard virtuosity.
Relapse will issue The Henge in late October,
a fitting choice for Moore's horror-movie style songs. Moore describes
his approach to the self-recorded album saying, "this album represents
a turning point in my writing - a subtle shift in direction that is only
apparent when considering the album as a whole. While no track is too far
removed from the harmonic language I create through my work with Zombi,
this album gives me a chance to expand my tonal palette by experimenting
with different instrumentations."- more

PR reports: On September 25, Starbucks will
host an intimate "Lunch and Listen" event to celebrate Joni Mitchell's
Hear Music release "Shine." From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, more than 6,500 Starbucks
stores in the U.S. and Canada will participate in the event by playing
"Shine" along with a retrospective of classics which have made Mitchell
one of the most beloved singer/songwriters of our time.
"'Lunch and Listen' gets to the heart of
the connection between Starbucks customers and music," says Ken Lombard,
president of Starbucks Entertainment who also oversees Hear Music. "We're
very proud of this record and on September 25, Mitchell's timeless resonance
will be felt in a very profound way."
Born out of a burst of creative energy,
"Shine" is one of three new artistic endeavors launched by Mitchell this
year. The first, "The Fiddle and the Drum," a ballet based on Mitchell's
music, debuted with the Alberta Ballet in Calgary earlier this year with
Mitchell serving as co-creator and artistic director. The second is a politically
charged visual art exhibit by Mitchell that will debut in New York in the
fall.

PR reports: Kaz Murphy is a well-traveled
singer/songwriter with a knack for reinventing his music. Stirring the
pot of the rich Los Angeles roots rock scene for the last two years, Murphy
emerges with Home for Misfits, an album that reaches across the pop/country
divide. Weaned on Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Bobby Gentry and Leadbelly, Murphy
sets aside his alt-country leanings to cross back to his Lovin' Spoonful
/ Simon & Garfunkel / Mamas and the Papas roots. With a voice as distinct
as Tom Petty, John Prine, David Byrne or Dylan, Murphy has coined an album
with a classic rock mood - and a current pop/Latin edge - a highly melodic,
rhythmic roots rock album with a nod to his '60s and '70s pop heroes.
Murphy's new album Home for Misfits will
be released in the fall of 2007. For this album Murphy retreated to the
studio, spending almost two years writing new material. Culling from the
wealth of talent that is the LA music scene, Murphy and co-producer Rich
McCulley enlisted support in the studio from Murphy's long-time band members
Brian Young (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy), John Skibic and Sully Sullivan (Ivy,
Twilight Singers), and wife Jacqueline Grad, along with McCulley, Amy Farris,
Kip Boardman, John McDuffie and Duane Jarvis.
What have emerged are Kaz's best work yet,
a sonically rich and emotionally compelling collection of songs that share
the stories of ordinary people gone awry; Home for Misfits authentically
examines through carefully taken long-shots and close-ups, the misfit that
lingers in all of us.

PR reports: After years of playing live around
the St Louis area with great success, Charles Wells is finally ready to
release his first album. It's My Turn is the culmination of hard work,
natural talent and the innate passion of a man steeped in the musical heritage
of the sixties and seventies, the groups he has played in, and the gospel
music he was brought up with.
"This CD has an old-school R&B feel,"
says Charles of his debut. "It also has a flavour of blues and a little
of country. It has a very earthy sound. I've tried to bring back the days
when artists used horns and strings on their projects to enhance their
groove."
"I have always felt music in my spirit.
I started at such an early age, my heart has never known another way to
express itself." Influenced by radio in the sixties and seventies, his
first band was called "We Friends," performing at talent shows and the
like. Thus began Charles' career in music, from performing at private events,
country clubs, casinos and local clubs. Currently his band "Music Box"
is one of the most sought after bands in the region.-

The Allman Brothers Band has an omnivorous love of music and never performing the same show twice. The world is a full of talented musicians, but it's rare for them to blend together and form a cumulative interrelated unit.

Some musicians work towards the rock-star MTV thing, complete with parties, groupies and bling. Others opt for a more low-key position with the emphasis aimed at the music. Count Patrick Goble in the latter category. He's a real talent that crafts his records on his own terms.

The Shape Of Everything is a diverse eclectic type music with both acoustic and electric guitars throughout. The songs have a jazzy folky funk sound which draws a slight comparison to groups like The Dave Mathews Band or Kings of Leon. (1.5 stars)
