CMJ reports: In a night of King Of Snake-worthy
chaos, members of Underworld were injured during an attack on the Ejekt
festival in Athens, Greece on Saturday night, according to the band's MySpace
page.
While the Beastie Boys were performing,
a group of around 30 masked "anarchists" armed with CS gas, iron bars and
baseball bats descended on the stadium, burning cars and forcing fans and
artists to evacuate.
Underworld's Rick Smith and several others
were seriously injured. Smith was briefly hospitalized in Athens before
returning to the UK for further treatment. No word yet as to whether the
incident will effect their tour schedule for the rest of the summer.[see

Contact Music reports: Former US Vice President
AL GORE has hit back at BOB GELDOF's criticisms of his forthcoming Live
8 concerts, insisting the super gigs will be a "wake-up call for the world".
Gore's Live Earth gigs followed Geldof's Live Aid and Live 8 concerts in
1985 and 2005 respectively, which [supposedly were aimed at somehow raising]
awareness of poverty in developing countries.
The Live Earth gigs, which will take place
in cities across all the continents, aim to spread the word of the damage
global warming is doing to the planet. Geldof questioned the need for the
gigs recently, saying, "Why is (Gore) actually organising them? To make
us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem
for years. We are all f**king conscious of global warming."
In response, Gore replies, "We will have
very
specific goals that will be very significant and hard-hitting. We will
announce those before the concert then empathise them heavily during the
concert. [see full story for more, also look up the one over there that

Punkbands reports: Several audience members
have been hurt at the Heineken Jammin' Festival in Italy yesterday after
a lighting and sound system collapsed. According to early reports from
the site, following strong winds and heavy rain, the ground under the delay
towers on site, which support the lights and amps, became unsteady and
fell down.
"I've never seen weather like it," one
eyewitness said "My Chemical Romance were due to play but then the sky
just went black. There were really strong winds and massive hailstones
and everything just got blown away. The sound desk, tops of stages, everything.
It was really shocking."
Ambulances have been called to the site,
and it is believed at least nine people have been hurt and have been taken
to hospital, suffering leg fractures and head injuries.[see full story

Jam! reports: Avril Lavigne may revive the
Christmas album some day.
And Lavigne's take on a potential Christmas
album will surprise some people.
"I would make it completely traditional,"
Lavigne said.
Talk of a possible Christmas album came
up when it was pointed out to Lavigne that at this stage of her career
-- having "made it," so to speak -- the 22-year-old really can do whatever
she wants, musically or otherwise. [see full story for more]-

Sleazeroxx.com reports: Better finish the
books on your summer reading list by the end of August. That's when Everybody
Wants Some: The Van Halen Saga (Wiley Publishing) hits bookstore shelves.
Written by noted metal journalist and radio host Ian Christe, the book
recounts the life and times of the L.A. group that rose to hard rock dominance
in the late Seventies.
The book begins with an account of Van
Halen's explosive arrival on the California hard rock scene in 1978, revealing
the powers of lead singer David Lee Roth, wunderkind guitarist Eddie Van
Halen, good-natured bassist Michael Anthony and complex drummer Alex Van
Halen.
The story follows the band's development
and success, through Sammy Hagar's replacement of Roth in 1985, and his
own replacement by former-Extreme singer Gary Cherone in the late Nineties.
Along the way, appearances are made by
prominent supporting players, including Eddie Van Halen's wife Valerie
Bertinelli, musical collaborator Michael Jackson and business partner Gene
Simmons of Kiss.[see full story for more]- Click

Facility in New Jersey.

after courting a New Jersey girl on the Internet, and then meeting her,
and reportedly assaulting her in a shopping center. The unnamed teenager

PR reports: Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson was
truly larger than life. At 6-foot, 8 inches tall and tipping the scales
at more than 350 pounds, his physical stature alone could support this
statement. However, Mayhem was much more than a giant man. What he did
with his life is a legacy that will shine on not only in the hearts of
the people who knew and loved him, but the people who have yet to meet
him. His is a story that continues to be told and will continue to inspire.
A true Renaissance man, he was also a live actor at the Scarborough and
Texas Renaissance Festivals, and a television actor for Ruffles Potato
Chips and 7-11 commercials. He even appeared as a supporting actor on the
hit series Walker Texas Ranger. He was a radio shock jock sidekick for
KEGL, a musician, a Dallas club bouncer, a personal bodyguard for celebrities
and rock-n-roll royalty, and head of security for the heavy metal band
Damageplan.
Sadly, on December 8, 2004, while on the
road in Columbus, Ohio with long-time friends Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie
Paul Abbott and the rest of the Damageplan crew, Mayhem’s life was taken
away from us when a crazed gunman ran onto stage, senselessly attacking
and killing guitarist Darrell Abbott. Mayhem was on the attacker in less
than a second. Regardless of the 4 shots which were already fired, he was
committed to protecting his friends and the audience from the armed killer.
During the struggle, the killer fired two fatal shots at point blank range.
Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson died a hero, placing the safety of others ahead
of himself. He fell with two other heroes—audience member Nathan Bray and
venue security member Erin Halk, who bravely took to the stage to give
assistance and subdue the killer. The rampage finally ended when first
responding police officer James Niggemeyer shot and killed the attacker.
Now we pay tribute to Jeffery "Mayhem"
Thompson, celebrating both his life and the lives of Darrell Abbott, Nathan
Bray, and Erin Halk. Mongo Production and MJS Music Publications present
"A Night Of Mayhem." This event will feature live music by 6 bands, including
Hillbilly Orchestra, Mother Truckin’ Skull Diggers, Texas Hippie Coalition,
and Mark John Sternal. Special guests include: Seth Thompson, Officer James
Niggemeyer, and rock author and photographer Chris A.[see full story for

Sleazeroxx.com reports: Motley Crue is claiming
that Rock Star made Tommy Lee look like less of a rock star.
The Dr. Feelgood band sued one of their
managers Monday, claiming that Carl Stubner made business decisions with
his own interests in mind and gave Lee bad career advice, which in turn
tarnished the group's image.
Not only did Lee's participation in the
reality shows Tommy Lee Goes to College on NBC and Rock Star: Supernova
on CBS get in the way of Motley Crue's 2005 Red, White & Crue tour
and plans to record a new studio album, costing the band's annual revenue
to fall to only $19 million in 2006, but the NBC series' "inane overtones"
made Lee look "incoherent, lazy and incompetent," alleges the lawsuit filed
in Los Angeles Superior Court. [no need for comic comments to be added

coupling — which allegedly happened several years ago — during an interview
with British newspaper The Sun.
The BLACK SABBATH frontman said, "Paris
was always hanging around our house. I'm not sure if she was a friend of
Kelly or Amy — which one was it, Sharon?" Sharon added, "She was Jack's...
erm... friend."
Ozzy continued, "He didn't shag her, did

DJ Rossstar reports: Let me start off by saying
that this is not a joke. Sometimes the news I post is so extreme that I
wouldn't blame you for not believing it.
Spinner has spilled the beans on "Idol:
The Musical" which will open Off Broadway in New York City on July 5th
2007.
The show is described as ""a satirical
look" at the phenomena known as Clay-Mania -- a thumbnail that strikes
us as being almost as redundant as "a soporific rendition of 'You Light
Up My Life,'" although it fails to mention who actually gave the description.

Idolator.com reports: When the White Stripes
had the idea to rechristen the abandoned Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard
"Icky Thump Records" and allow their fans to indulge in a little midnight-madness
shopping this past Monday, they probably had no idea that the sheer devotion
of their fans would result in a massive opportunity for blindingly obvious
puns:
The trouble started when the band announced
that the first 200 CD's sold at the temporary store when it opened at midnight
Monday night and re-named "Icky Thump Records" for the occasion, would
receive free tickets to the concert.
White Stripes fans began congregating in
front of the closed retailer on the Sunset Strip in the early evening Saturday,
even though no public facilities existed for them. That was when neighbors
began reporting that they were witnessing incidences of public urination
and defecation.[see full story for more]- Click

Experience Hendrix PR reports: Since 1995,
James “Al” Hendrix, the sole heir of Jimi Hendrix, and his close family
members and their companies have been committed to preserving Jimi Hendrix’s
musical, cultural and artistic legacy. Experience Hendrix has registered
and continuously used trademarks of Jimi Hendrix’s name, his image, his
signature and other logos in careful marketing of Jimi’s music, recordings,
artistic properties and related merchandise throughout the world.
In 2005, a federal district court dismissed
Experience Hendrix’s claim that the James Marshall Hendrix Foundation’s
use of certain Jimi Hendrix personality rights had violated the Washington
Personality Rights Act. The Court reasoned that a 1903 New York Civil Rights
law, which does not recognize a celebrity’s posthumous personality rights,
and not the Washington Act, should apply to the case. Yesterday, the 9th
Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed that decision. While Experience Hendrix
will request a rehearing, the Court’s decision today will not affect Experience
Hendrix’s exclusive ownership of Jimi’s music and recordings and will not
affect the trademarks that Experience Hendrix has used and will continue
to use in maintaining and promoting Jimi’s legacy. - Click
