The Origins of Never Enough
PR reports: Never Enough frontman Norman Matthew, who previously fronted Texas based LYLAH, has posted a blog on the group's MySpace page discussing the recording of Never Enough's Corporate Punishment debut, which also features Eighteen Visions' guitarist Keith Barney (ex-Throwdown) and drummer Trevor Friedrich.

"Trevor Friedrich and I had kept in touch from tour, since both LYLAH and Eighteen Visions were on WARPED TOUR together. We had kept in touch and I was always inviting Trevor to our shows when we played in LA and when they came through El Paso, TX on the LOST PROPHETS tour and we all hung out, I was showing them some of my new material and Trevor texted me saying I had an amazing voice after I had sent him some tracks I was writing."

"Fast forward about 6 months later and I was actually doing some production work and meetings in LA, writing a new LYLAH record and just kind of trying to take my music to another level. - more on this story

Oh No Not Stereo Soph Plans
PR reports: High-energy pop-rock duo Oh No Not Stereo are busy tracking their second full-length album in not one, but four different studios in their hometown of Los Angeles. The band is handling their own production, but have enlisted an impressive team comprised of Jim Wirt (Incubus, Live, Something Corporate) to assist with instrumentation; Max Coane (Jack's Mannequin, The Rocket Summer, The Bronx) to assist with production; and Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard, Everclear) to mix the record.

With a total of 15 tracks expected to make the cut, Oh No Not Stereo have found themselves heading in a slightly-new direction on their sophomore effort. The heavy use of pianos throughout the record, as well as the addition of a full quartet on nine of the songs, suggests the end result will likely be described as melodic rock—with a twist of timelessness.

Oh No Not Stereo are anticipating a first quarter 2008 release date for their new LP. In the meantime check out - www.ohnonotstereo.com

Aerosmith Were Asking For A Lawsuit?
antiMusic reports: TicketNews has an interesting interview article with the attorney that's spearheading the class action lawsuit against Aerosmith for their last minute cancellation of a concert in Hawaii. (They played Chicago instead, and reportedly did go to Hawaii a few days later to play a private party for Toyota.) Here is part of the TicketNews article: In an interview with TicketNews, Brandee Faria explained that the band's planned Sept. 26 concert on Maui presented logistical challenges for fans that most normal shows do not.

"Aerosmith announced that it was going to come to Hawaii and perform a concert on Maui, where about only 11 percent of the state's population live. Unlike the mainland, where most concerts can be attended for the price of the ticket and some gas, most of the 10,000 Hawaii fans had to pay for airfare, hotel and car rental," Faria said. The show was scheduled for a Wednesday when many people would have to take time off from work in order to attend.

The band then cancelled, rather than reschedule the Maui concert, a few days before the scheduled show in favor of a larger, more profitable concert in Chicago, according to Faria, but when the band first announced the cancellation, "they provided no reason at all" for the move. Later, they said the reason for canceling was logistics in getting their equipment to Hawaii, but Aerosmith then allegedly came to the islands with their equipment, spent a few days vacationing on Maui, and then performed a private gig for Toyota on Oahu only days after their cancelled Maui concert, Faria continued. - [She's not done. Arlen Roth Sets Feb Release
PR reports: Arlen Roth's name is uttered in the hushed, reverent tones reserved for the true greats. Vintage Guitar magazine cited him as one of the "Top 100 Influential Guitarists of the Century." But outside this clued-in sector, Roth has remained under the radar throughout the majority of his 35-year career. The new album, Toolin' Around Woodstock — Featuring Levon Helm on Roth's own Aquinnah label, due out February 5, 2008, could change things.

Unlike its 1993 all-star super session antecedent Toolin' Around, which featured a who's who of fellow guitar greats, the forthcoming album focuses on a close-knit unit anchored by the great drummer and vocalist well known for his work in The Band, whose name is fittingly referenced in the album title. - more on this story

Steve Poltz Goes Traveling
PR reports: With thousands of songs behind him and a lifetime of road miles beneath his feet, Steve Poltz has finally sat down to look back and make sense of it all. The only tunesmith ever to write songs with both Mojo Nixon and Jewel is back with Traveling, a new album that once again defies category and blurs musical boundaries.

The new CD is due for release on January 22, 2008 on the Thirty Tigers label. With Traveling, Poltz deviates from the manic, irreverent form that marked his prior efforts and instead creates a soundscape of such raw emotions that listeners will relate on an immediate and personal level. The achingly pretty "Haters' Union" couches anguished, confessional lyrics within beautiful string-tinged melodies. "Rains" is contagiously punchy, even as it describes the hopeless feelings of trying to escape the memory of a lost lover while staring out on a rainy day. "Brief History of My Life," a massive favorite at live shows, is vintage Poltz. The song showcases his prowess as a storyteller as he takes the listener for a melancholic yet hilarious biographical spin.

Zyklon Take a Break
PR reports: Samoth from Zyklon has issued the following statement: Returning from Japan marks the end of ZYKLON's touring activities for "Disintegrate". As for future plans, I guess one could say that it's a bit "up in the air" at the moment. Looking back there have been ups and downs during the years with ZYKLON. We're not always an easy band to manage, as all members live in different cities and have multiple commitments on different fronts, thus it's often hard for all the logistic and practical things to work. This situation has especially come more into focus in the last year or so, where it has become harder and harder to get the band together when needed, with the spirit and excitement that one expects from a band like this.

Basically, I don't feel that we as a band have the fire needed to start working on a new album right now. Therefore ZYKLON are taking a break. This is a good time for us to do so. We have completed a good run of shows around the world for our latest album; we have completed all our contractual obligations with Candlelight Records (with success I must add, as Candlelight have treated us well, cheers mates!). - more on this story

NuVid Player Takes Videos Global
PR reports: The Nume.com Video Player (NuVid Player) is a simple widget for creating video playlists able to combine videos across various platforms including YouTube, Google, and MySpace Videos. Instead of having two, three or ten different video players on social networking profiles and blogs, a single NuVid player can be embedded which will hold all of those videos. With a NuVid Player, the ability to create multiple playlists within the same player allows for organization of videos in any way.

The NuVid Player also makes for easy management of playlists by allowing the addition of new videos, the ability to change the playlist order, and even the option to change the player's skin right from within the application without ever having to change the embed codes. Another exclusive feature of the NuVid Player is the "copy video to your player" option, better known as the HiJack feature. When a video is active in another user's player, a person can click "HIJACK THIS" which will prompt for login information, and then will put the video into the user's player without ever having to change the embed codes.

The NuVid Player also allows for the ability to "subscribe" to someone else's video playlist so when their player is changed, it automatically updates the subscriber's player too. By embedding the player of a user's favorite band or friend, the same player will automatically change to match every time a change is made. By allowing the ability for users to embed others' players, it creates a platform that turns users into internet video VJs. - more on this story

Leigh Marble covers a lot of musical ground from folk to mellow indie and blues. If there were a section at your local music shop for intelligent, carefully crafted songs, you would find this CD there. (4 stars) - Read the full Leigh Marble - Red Tornado review

.... Review: Modern Life is War - Midnight in America
Overall, the album repeats itself and fails to really deliver an impact. It sounds like an old Rise Against album but with more emo and angst. I'd say there's lots of angst but no real emotion on Midnight in America. - Read the full Modern Life is War - Midnight in America review
