antiMusic reports: Bobaflex's new album 'Tales
From Dirt Town' hits stores the day before Halloween but this week we'll
get you primed for it as we asked Marty McCoy to pick his favorite tracks
from the CD and tell us a bit about each one. Here is Marty with today's
songs "Satisfied" and "Paranoid":
Satisfied: "Wrote this song with Tony
Battaglia (Shinedown) who happens to be an amazing songwriter. He opened
a door on the way we wrote songs and thought about writing songs. The song
is about never feeling like you can do enough for anyone"
Paranoid: "Another song co-written w/
Tony Battaglia. About everyone out to get you. Seems like in this industry
everyone wants a piece of something, especially if they feel like something
big is gonna happen."

song a day on their Myspace page. Check that out- right

antiMusic reports: While it isn't a certain
announcement, Jimmy Page has given Led Zeppelin fans the news they have
been hoping to hear; that Led Zeppelin may record new music. The guitarist
is petty sure that the band will get the "led out" in the studio following
their reunion concert at London's 02 Arena next month and John Paul Jones
hasn't ruled out further plans for the band either.
All eyes on are currently on the November
26th tribute concert for late Atlantic Records boss Ahmet Ertegun where
Page, Jones and Robert Plant will reunite on stage for the first time in
two decades with Jason Bonham taking the place of his late father John.
And while Page wouldn't directly commit to the four musicians playing additional
shows, when he was asked by The Winnipeg Sun about the possibility of them
recording new material he had this to say, "Look, I'd be really surprised
if there wasn't -- you know, I mean I just know the way we are. We're musicians
... as we're playing we'll probably be coming up with all manner of things.
And that will be fun. I mean, that's what it's all about.
"Let's do the 02 show, shall we? And then
we'll speak to you afterward," he added. Bassist John Paul Jones sang a
similar tune when he hinted that there may be a future for a reformed Led
Zeppelin but right now they remain focused on the 02 show. "Basically,
we are concentrating on this show," Jones told the paper. "That's where
all the energy is going. I mean, who knows, but one step at a time."
They had quite a bit more to say, read
the Winnipeg Sun article- here

antiMusic reports: Yellowcard Bassist Pete
Mosley has given the band a pinkslip (again). The band made the announcement
Wednesday on their official site and there is no word yet on who will replace
Pete in the group, that is unless he changes his mind again and rejoins
them. Here is what they had to say:
"Hello everyone, We wanted to let you know
that I have chosen to leave Yellowcard and pursue other endeavors. It has
been an honor creating music together and I want to wish them the very
best in everything they put their hands to. its been a blessing to have
been able to travel the world and perform music. I would like to thank
everyone who has supported us through all these years and will continue
to support yellowcard. Thanks, Peter"
According to Wikipedia this isn't the first
time that Pete has decided to pursue other endeavors.-

antiMusic reports: Bon Jovi proclaimed with
the title of their boxset that their fans can't be wrong but it turns out
that in the eyes of the power that be in the Bon Jovi camp that their most
loyal fans are often wrong. At least when it comes to critiquing the services
they receive after paying $50 to become a member of the band's fan club.
Some fans have had enough and started an online petition addressed to Jon
Bon Jovi. But you won't hear about it on the message boards within the
fan club because those are heavily censored.
The petition reads in part: "We, the disappointed
members of Backstage with Jon Bon Jovi, sign this petition after much patience
with and tolerance of the new fan club. We believe that the new fan club
is not acting in the best interests of its members, in particular: 1. Promises
made in exchange for the annual 06-07 membership fee, such as contests
and online chats with you, have not been delivered 2. The fees charged
for tickets, ticket packages and fan club events are heavily inflated 3.
The online ticketing system is unreliable, taking an average time of 2-3
hours to purchase a ticket (comparable to 5 minutes for some other artists)
with many issues and grief to fans 4. Local fan club members are unable
to get tickets to local shows."
Many fans are apparently afraid to speakout
against the problems with the club over a fear of being bannished. We did
manage to speak with one member who spoke with us on the condition of anonymity
and this member laid out some of the major issues that spawned this online
protest against the Bon Jovi fan club which says, "we seek an ethical and
modern fan club that offers value for money that can be enjoyed by global
fans from all demographics."
Despite the heavy censorship on fan club
message board where we are told it is difficult for fans to find out what
is really going on because "the admins of the board keep deleting the fan
complaints," the biggest complaint that fans have against the club is the
fan club tour packages and their inflated prices, thus taxing fan loyalty.-

antiMusic reports: Death Cab for Cutie's Chris
Walla hit a bit of a snag while recording his new solo album 'field manual'.
It appears that while the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement department
is completely inept at keeping millions of people from entering the country
illegally, they have no problem keeping the biggest threat to national
security from coming in... music!
Walla's new album is due out January 29,
2008 but according to his label, the Feds have done their part to keep
that happening. Barsuk Records reports that "the project hit an unexpected
snag when a data hard drive containing critical album files was confiscated
by U.S. Customs. The drive was held 'to be analyzed' for several weeks
on its way back into the U.S. prior to final mixing of the album. Interestingly,
a strong political thread runs through the record's lyrics; Walla takes
more than a few shots at US policy, both at home and abroad, and challenges
at least one senator to find the exit door.... For whatever reason, the
drive has still not been returned."
But Walla won't let a little thing like
the U.S. government keep him getting his album done. Barsuk Records says
that " Despite delays in meeting his production schedule, Walla has finally
begun putting the finishing touches on the album during breaks between
his other commitments (using a back-up hard drive that was successfully
shipped into the US following the seizure of the first drive.)" Walla should
have just told them that he was bringing in toxic toys from China and he
wouldn't have had these problems. - more

antiMusic reports: Looks like Tommy "T-Bonehead"
Lee was wrong when he said of Kid Rock: "This is what people do when they
have sh*tty albums and their careers are going down the drain." Looks like
he is doing the opposite as Kid Rock's new album, Rock N Roll Jesus, debuts
at No. 1 on the Billboard 200/SoundScan album chart and according to his
label, "this marks the first time the American Baddass has landed at #1,
having previously reached #2 with his collection The History of Rock. "
Maybe Tommy was projecting his own career onto Kid Rock?
With all that said and the strange rip
in the space/time continuum where we side with Kid Rock, who incidentally
knocked Bruce Springsteen from the top of the charts, here are some highlights
from the Atlantic Records press release: Says Kid Rock of the achievement,
"I want to thank Punch Andrews for his guidance, friendship, and hard work
throughout my career. This couldn't have happened without him. And to my
fans, for once again giving me a great excuse to throw a big party. I look
forward to celebrating with them soon. And to everyone else, welcome to
Haterville, population YOU." - more

antiMusic reports: Rapper C-Murder will once
again see the inside of a court room where he faces a murder wrap. C-Murder,
real name Corey Miller, had his murder conviction thrown out but prosecutors
want another crack at him so a new trial date has been set where he will
face a second-degree murder charge.
Jam! has the story: A Feb. 11 trial date
for Corey Miller was set during a telephone conference with prosecutors
and defense attorneys, Judge Martha Sassone said in court Tuesday.
Miller, 36, is accused in the shooting
death of Steve Thomas, 16, at a Harvey nightclub on Jan. 12, 2002. The
rapper's 2003 conviction was tossed after Sassone found that prosecutors
withheld criminal background information on witnesses from his attorney.-

antiMusic reports: A soft chuckle here as
we recall something we said in a report yesterday about labels trying to
get fans to buy the same CD all over again by re-releasing it as some sort
of special editions shortly after the original version came out. We received
an announcement today that Hear Music plans to do this with Paul McCartney's
new album "Memory Almost Full" (which came out in June). Of course, it's
a "CD/DVD Deluxe Edition". But maybe fans should nickname it "Wallet Almost
Empty".
Here is the announcement: Hear Music announced
today that it will release a CD/DVD Deluxe Edition of Paul McCartney's
"Memory Almost Full" at traditional music retail outlets on November 6,
2007 and at Starbucks Company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada
on November 8, 2007. Just in time for the holidays, the CD/DVD Deluxe Edition
features three bonus tracks, exclusive live performance footage, and music
videos for "Ever Present Past" and "Dance Tonight." In addition, CD/DVD
Deluxe Editions of "Memory Almost Full" sold at Starbucks locations will
feature a pre-loaded $5 limited edition Paul McCartney Starbucks card as
part of a gift set.
The CD/DVD Deluxe Edition features three
bonus audio tracks on the CD- oh

antiMusic reports: It appears that a shady
promoter was behind Exodus' planned stops in Mexico so the band have pulled
the plug on those dates. Here is the announcement: Exodus will not perform
the announced Mexico shows on October 25th - 27th on their upcoming South
American tour. The band was booked under false pretense by a promoter who
failed to fulfill even basic requirements, logistically and financially.
It later surfaced that promoter in question
was involved in other show related controversies earlier this year when
a world-known trash metal band from Europe had to cancel a planned Mexico
appearance last minute and advance tickets sold in Mexico were not refunded
to the fans.
Exodus is sorry to let down their Mexican
fans but after failing to meet several deadlines for deposits, airfares
and supplying production information, the promoter made it impossible to
realize those shows. As of today, six days to originally planned departure
from the US, the band did not receive any information regarding equipment,
lodging and internal transport; neither airfares nor guarantees were paid-

antiMusic reports: A lot of rock stars have
vanity projects attached to their names that have little to do with music
but U2 are aiming for the sky with their latest one. That's right, Ireland
will (not so)soon be home to a skyscraper carrying the band's name.
Gigwise have the report: U2 are to put
their name to the first ever skyscraper to be built in Ireland. The €200
million, 'U2 Tower,' will be built in the Docklands region of Dublin and
will stand at 120m tall.
According to PA, the band will move their
recording studio to the summit of the tower when it is opened in 2011.

antiMusic reports: Last weekend in the introduction
to a top story from the previous week about Clay Aiken, we asked his fans
to send us a legitimate source for a recant by John Paulus, the Green Beret
that said he had a sexual encounter with the pop singer. We tried to find
a reliable source and could not after we had been flooded with emails that
simply cited fan blogs as a source for the recant as well as some rather
wild conspiracy theories. A few fans earnestly tried to supply us with
legitimate sources and we thank them. Unfortunately, one turned out to
be a reality show news site that simply cited fan blogs and the legitimate
source actually debunked the recant claims. On Saturday, we heard from
the ultimate authority on whether Aiken's accuser recanted or not when
John Paulus gave us his side of the story. We ran part of it on Monday
when we debunked a tabloid story about a church canceling an Aiken concert
and promised we would run Paulus' full statement to us. Here it is:
I'm the "Green Beret" who outed Clay
Aiken. I have little doubt that the Claymates are inundating you with "proof"
that I've recanted. It's unfortunate that in their desperation, Clay Aiken
fans would take a sarcastic retort that I made in response to their ludicrous
assertion and construe it as a statement of fact. Again, there was never
a legitimate recant made by me nor will there be. I stand by the story
as reported by the National Enquirer and as told by me on the Howard Stern
Show back in February 2006.
Clay Aiken had an opportunity to address
the claims I made back in January 2006, but declined. Instead his management
and publicist refused comment when asked by several media outlets if the
allegations were true.
In interviews back in September 2006
with Diane Sawyer, and Larry King, when questioned whether or not he was
gay, Clay Aiken declined an opportunity to provide a direct yes or no answer.
In an interview given to 'People Magazine' in the Fall of 2006 he was once
again asked the question and again he chose to equivocate and not give
a definitive yes or no reply.
His current refusal and equivocation
to the question provide credibility to my assertions. Those using a sarcastic
retort I made as evidence of recant do so out of sheer desperation.
While I was wrong for outing Clay Aiken
and do regret doing it, I have not and will not recant the factual statements
I have made regarding our encounter. -
