The Last Goodnight Week: Poison Kiss
antiMusic reports: This week we asked The Last Goodnight's Kurtis John to tell us about his five favorite tracks from their major label debut Poison Kiss. Today Kurtis tells about the title track:

Poison Kiss - This song basically got the ball rolling for the entire album. When the writing process on the west coast started, this song was the first complete idea. Ely and I had the basic structure and melody down within a half hour. As the song evolved and became more and more polished, it ended up being a major influence on how the rest of the album was going to be created.

Rocker Poisoned
antiMusic reports: Playing in a rock band can be hazardous to your health. Bad food, bad groupies, bad drugs can all lead to major health problems but it's the strings on your instrument you really have to look out for. Just ask The Cribs' bassist Gary Jarman. Contact music has the report:

British rocker Gary Jarman has been admitted to hospital after suffering from suspected blood poisoning. The Cribs' bassist is thought to have contracted the condition after accidentally cutting himself with the strings of his bass guitar during a recent gig.

He had complained of pains in his arms on Saturday (06Oct07), but managed to play a scheduled gig in Sheffield, England. Jarman was taken to a local hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning (07Oct07) where it was confirmed he was suffering from blood poisoning.- more on this story

New Gay Aiken Controversy
antiMusic reports: If he's gay he can't play. That's what some members of a Kansas church have to say about a booking of the American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken. Contact Music has the report (so don't send us hate mail): Aiken is caught up in another gay controversy after parishioners at a church where he is set to perform a Christmas (07) concert demanded assurances the singer isn't a homosexual.

Aiken's sexuality hit the headlines last year (06) when a former Green Beret soldier revealed he had spent a night of passion with the crooner, but Aiken refused to discuss the issue when it came up in interviews. Then, fans threatened to file a class action suit against the singer if it was proven he was gay.

And now, elders at a Wichita, Kansas church want to make sure the singer is heterosexual before green-lighting plans for him to perform for their congregation on 26 November (07). - More on this story including the reported results of the Green Beret's polygraph

Springsteen Tops Charts, Legal Horseplay and Angers Fans
antiMusic reports: Tony Danza is not the boss in record stores, that title this week belongs to Bruce Springsteen. But while he is enjoying international success on the charts for his "blue collar rock" some long time fans are wondering if it's time to fire the Boss over issues with his current tour. Did we mention he's been sued over a 850,000 dollar horse for his teenage daughter?

Bruce Springsteen has topped the UK charts for the seventh time in his career with his latest album, Magic, reports the BBC. And Billboard reported on Sunday that the Boss is expected to top the US charts as well, having sold 165,000 copies of the album as of Friday.

While Bruce is enjoying chart success, the "blue collar hero" has been sued for backing out of a $850,000 deal to purchase a horse for their teenage daughter. At least now we know why ticket prices for "the man of the people" are offered at Yuppie prices, and speaking of which his tour is off to a rocky start with many longtime fans angered by the general admission policy on the outing which kicked off last week. Authorities from Georgia contacted Idaho police and gave them the heads up about the warrant. The 25-year-old was not eligible for bond due to the nature of the charge - more on this story

Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting Bon Jovi
antiMusic reports: Jon Bon Jovi is scheduled to host Saturday Night Live on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 according to BW&BK. Musical entertainment that night will be provided by the Foo Fighters.

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC (normally broadcasting commercials) at 11:30 PM (10:30 CT). If you can't figure out which night it's on, it's time to grab some razorblades, listen to a My Chemical Romance album and commit emocide.

(For the lawyers reading this and total morons that might take it seriously: the emocide thing was a joke and while MCR may make any rational person wish to off themselves to make it stop (or force the so called singer to take some allergy meds), we do not advocate the taking of your own life but we do ask you to please not procreate for the overall good of society). - emo kids can whine here and yes MCR are most definitely emo

Heaven & Hell Strike Gold and Tribute Tawn Mastrey
antiMusic reports: Heaven & Hell (Dio era Black Sabbath) brought their North American tour to a triumphant close in Irvine, California on Saturday night. To cap off the night and tour the band were awarded gold album plaques for their just released live album and dedicated their encore to a legendary local metal DJ.

Heaven & Hell concluded their North American tour on Saturday at Verizon Amphitheatre in Irvine, Ca. While the roaring fans waited for the band to return to stage for an encore they were greeted with a surprise. A co-host from the mallcore show on the local alternative radio station took to the stage to present the band with gold album plagues for their "Live From Radio City Music Hall" which hit stores a little over a month ago. The radio show host received mostly boos from the old school metal fans with assorted shouts of "you suck" and "go back to the mall poser" when she introduced herself. (The record company would have been smarter asking a representative from the radio station that actually sponsored the show, KLOS, to make the award presentation). However, the crowd's venom turned to cheers when the host announced why she was there as the audience seemed excited to witness the band receive their gold record awards as further affirmation that this lineup of Black Sabbath is still a major force in metal in the 21st century.

The band graciously accepted their awards and thanked the fans for making it happen. Then Ronnie James Dio said that since they were up there they might as well strap on some instruments and play some more music. But before the band broke into their encore song, "Neon Knights," Dio brought the crowd to their feet when he dedicated the song to Tawn Mastrey, a former DJ for the famed Los Angeles metal radio station of the 80s KNAC who passed away last week.- Read our review of Live from Radio City Music Hall

Jam reports: A former associate of Sean (Diddy) Combs has filed a lawsuit from prison against the hip-hop mogul, claiming Combs owes him more than $19 million for music by the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.

James Sabatino, a former consultant for Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment Inc., said he flew B.I.G. to Miami in 1994 to perform a show and record some music.

The rapper, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, recorded about 17 minutes of vocals, and the session was also captured on about 90 minutes of video footage.

Britney Blackout
antiMusic reports: Dictionary.com lists a definition of Blackout as "a period of total memory loss, as one induced by an accident or prolonged alcoholic drinking: 'The patient cannot account for the bizarre things he did during his blackout.'" While her record company claims a totally different meaning behind the word, Britney Spears has selected it as a rather fitting title for her "comeback" album.

Here is part of the BBC report: Troubled pop star Britney Spears has revealed that her first studio album in four years will be called Blackout. The title "refers to blocking out negativity and embracing life fully," said the star's record label Jive.

The singer, 25, is due to release her album on 12 November in the UK and the following day in the US. Jive Records says Spears will not be making the usual round of promotional appearances ahead of the release.- more on this story
