antiMusic reports: Former member of the Royal
Air Force turned singer/songwriter, the UK's James Blunt seemed to come
out of nowhere a couple years ago to become an international superstar.
His highly anticipated new album "All The Lost Souls" is a certified smash,
topping charts across the globe last week and debuting at No. 7 here in
the US. This week we have a treat for Blunt fans old and new. We asked
James to pick some of his favorites songs from the new CD and tell us a
bit about each one. Here is James with today's song "I Really Want You":
I actually wrote "I Really Want
You" a long time ago - before I recorded Back to Bedlam, and I tried to
record it but couldn't capture it at all. It was something about it - it
felt too much like a live song that you just couldn't catch the essence
of it. That's really where Tom Rothrock comes into his own because he is
a person that really understands how to make us perform as if it is a live
set-up and he's the only one that can capture that.

antiMusic reports: Did a overzealous photographer
Down Under try and pull a Princess Diana on country singer Keith Urban?
Apparently Urban was in a motorcycle crash while on the way to an AA meeting
and he says that it was caused by a photographer that was chasing him.
Urban said he was "out riding to an AA
meeting, a time when my privacy is especially important to me, (when) I
felt myself being pursued" by a photographer on another motorcycle according
to AP.
"I sped up, and in an effort to elude an
oncoming car which was making an illegal U-turn, saw no choice but to drop
my bike. In actual fact, my pursuer came to my assistance, without taking
photos, and helped me from the road. I returned home, got my car, and continued
on my way."- more

Filter reports: Radiohead have finally stopped
the cryptic messages and have released a slew of details pertaining to
the release of their seventh LP, In Rainbows. The album will be available
in three, count them three different ways.
The madness will first begin on October
10, when the Nigel Godrich produced disc will be available as a DRM-free
MP3 download. For this, you can pay whatever you want for it. Yes, you
did read that correctly. Seen as more of a donation, its a guarantee no
Radiohead fan will go without that day.
The second option sees In Rainbows being
sold as part of a deluxe discbox. To ship in Decmeber, the discbox will
include a hardcopy of the LP, an enhanced bonus CD with an additional 8
tracks, various photos/artwork and lyric booklets all wrapped in a beautiful
package. And since you saved money by probably paying close to nothing
for the digital download, the entire package comes in at a nifty, $81.00.-

AP reports: A British gallery that turned
over a photo of two naked girls to police amid child pornography concerns
has closed the exhibition at the request of Elton John, who owns the collection.
The BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art,
in Gateshead, northeastern England, said it closed "Thanksgiving," an installation
of 149 pictures by American photographer Nan Goldin, at John's request.
"After the removal of one image from the
series it was no longer possible for BALTIC to exhibit the collection of
works as the artist intended," the gallery said in a statement. "Therefore
BALTIC is sympathetic to Sir Elton John's request and supportive of the
decision."- more

Gigwise reports: Independent music labels
in the United Kingdom have called for the Universal Music Group to be investigated
because of its continuing dominance of the music industry.
The request from trade body AIM comes after
Universal's recent acquisition of V2 Records – who are home to Stereophonics,
Bloc Party and Paul Weller. Universal purchased Richard Branson's V2 label
last month for £7 million, saying that the purchase was "pro-competitive."
The music group's dominance was shown in
last week's UK charts, where 55% of artists were attached to a label under
Universal's ownership.- more

Metal Underground reports: Courtney Love settled
a lawsuit brought against her by the attorneys who represented her in her
own legal battle with the surviving members of NIRVANA, according to Seattle
Weekly. Katherine Hendricks and O. Yale Lewis claimed that Love owed them
more than $340,000, plus interest, for their work on a 2002 suit that Love
filed against NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl. Love,
who controlled the share of NIRVANA's business that had belonged to her
late husband, NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, allegedly did not fully pay
her lawyers even though she eventually earned at least $9 million as a
result of that suit.
Love settled with Hendricks and Lewis for
an undisclosed sum. The settlement was effective as of Monday, September
17. The case was scheduled to go to trial on Wednesday, September 19.
According to court records, Love had paid
the Seattle-based attorneys more than one million dollars in the NIRVANA
suit, but still owed them $341,000 plus as much as $200,000 in interest.-

Punknews.org reports: Aaron Gillespie, drummer
of Underoath and frontman of The Almost has been benched temporarily so
he can heal from an infection on his hand. His bandmates explained:
Aaron went to the hospital with a really
bad infection in his finger caused by a blister from playing. Blisters
are common for drummers but normally they don't get nasty nfections in
them.
A docter had to do some minor surgery and
he can't use his hand for a week. Kenny Bozich from the band The Almost
will be filling in while Aaron's hand heals up for the week. Tim and Spencer
will be pitching in to cover Aaron's vocal parts. - more

PR reports: Otep Shamaya, outspoken frontwoman
of Los Angeles-based metal quartet OTEP, has a blog up and running. In
her powerful blog, Otep discusses the impact that poetry has had on her
songwriting. OTEP are currently gearing up for the long-awaited release
of their new album, The_Ascension on October 30 on KOCH Records, and an
upcoming tour with HELLYEAH and bloodsimple, also beginning on October
30 at The Fillmore in Detroit.
For their new album, OTEP called on Dave
Fortman (Mudvayne, Evanescence) to produce, and also enlisted Grammy-nominated
guitarist Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne and HELLYEAH) to co-write three songs.
To date, OTEP has sold over 400,000 units.
With the release of The_Ascension, their
third full-length outing, the band challenged themselves to avoid clichés
and classifications and find a new landscape of sound and vision. On The_Ascension
Otep is both inciteful and insightful, with songs ranging from the aggro
call to arms of "Confrontation" to the vulnerable 'Perfectly Flawed.' The_Ascension
is infused with a meticulous care to detail, the CD's 13 songs both free
and freeing for the listener and the band. Otep's new blog is located-

PR reports: When the lights go up, the hum
of the endless road is lost to the unmistakable strains of those twin-lead
guitars and the cheers of the crowd, symbiotic exchanges between band and
audience that spark each and every night and make everything worthwhile.
Life on the road has seduced Andy Powell and Wishbone Ash for 38 years.
During the next six months, the band will tour intensely to promote two
new releases: The Power of Eternity, a studio recording featuring the current
lineup; and a DVD and double-live CD soundtrack, Wishbone Ash Live in Hamburg,
recorded this year at Germany's famed club, The Fabrik.
Dubbed the "Eternity Tour," it will bring
the band to many familiar stomping grounds in Belgium, Denmark, France,
Germany, Holland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
More than 100 dates are scheduled, providing plenty of opportunities to
catch the latest incarnation of Wishbone Ash, which adds drummer Joe Crabtree
to the established lineup of twin axemen Andy Powell and Muddy Manninen
and bassist Bob Skeat.
Beginning in October, the Eternity Tour
will deliver performances chock-full of current and future classics-
