(PR) Otep Shamaya, outspoken frontwoman of Los Angeles-based metal quartet OTEP, has a blog up and running. In her powerful blog, Otep discusses the impact that poetry has had on her songwriting. OTEP are currently gearing up for the long-awaited release of their new album, The_Ascension on October 30 on KOCH Records, and an upcoming tour with HELLYEAH and bloodsimple, also beginning on October 30 at The Fillmore in Detroit.For their new album, OTEP called on Dave Fortman (Mudvayne, Evanescence) to produce, and also enlisted Grammy-nominated guitarist Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne and HELLYEAH) to co-write three songs. To date, OTEP has sold over 400,000 units.
With the release of The_Ascension, their third full-length outing, the band challenged themselves to avoid clichιs and classifications and find a new landscape of sound and vision. On The_Ascension Otep is both inciteful and insightful, with songs ranging from the aggro call to arms of "Confrontation" to the vulnerable 'Perfectly Flawed.'
