antiMusic reports: Former member of the Royal
Air Force turned singer/songwriter, the UK's James Blunt seemed to come
out of nowhere a couple years ago to become an international superstar.
His highly anticipated new album "All The Lost Souls" is a certified smash,
topping charts across the globe last week and debuting at No. 7 here in
the US. This week we have a treat for Blunt fans old and new. We asked
James to pick some of his favorites songs from the new CD and tell us a
bit about each one. Here is James with today's song "1973":
I wrote 1973 with a man named Mark Batson,
who is a really great guy; we wrote it in New York in Jimmy Hendrix's old
studio. Mark Batson comes from a different background musically and he
writes with [Dr.] Dre, who lives out here in Los Angeles, but we got together
and messed around on a musical level and I had some ideas about something
that was more up-tempo.
I had been living on a Spanish island
where there is a lot of dance music in the first place, where I've been
trying to figure out that vibe. Then lyrically it's a kind of nostalgic
moment about the great celebration of shared times and nights out on the
town. In 1973… I wasn't even alive then, I don't know why [I named it that],
it must have just rhymed with something.

antiMusic reports: Bad news Zeppelin fans.
It looks like one show is all we will get. Gigwise has the report: Led
Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has ruled out hopes of a full Led Zeppelin
reunion tour.
It had been hoped that the band would extended
their one-off show at London's O2 Arena on November 26th to allow more
people to see the veteran rockers make their comeback.
Plant has now definitely ruled out the
prospect of more dates, however, saying: "We need to do one last great
show, because we've done some shows and they've been crap." -

Contact Music reports: DAVID GILMOUR has no
plans to regroup with his PINK FLOYD bandmates again, despite getting fans'
hopes up when the legendary rockers reunited for a one-off Live 8 performance
in 2005.
The guitarist's infamous rift with bandmate
Roger Waters caused the rockers to split in the 1980s, but Gilmour has
dismissed speculation of a Pink Floyd reunion because he's more interested
in his solo work.
He says, "What I've been doing for the
last couple of years - what I was in the middle of when Live 8 came along
- was my album, and that's what I'm thinking about. "I can't see why I
would want to be going back to that old thing. It's very retrogressive.-

Lambgoat reports: Dynamic, Austin, TX based
quartet The Sword has announced a U.S. headlining tour, its first in nearly
a year. The scheduled 17 city trek will launch this December and will see
the critically acclaimed metal band perform many of the brand new songs
that will comprise the bulk of its highly anticipated new album, due in
early-2008 via NYC's Kemado Records.
Unquestionably one of heavy music's most
talked about new bands, The Sword deliver explosive songs, gripping live
performances and a unique vision that combines metal's beloved past with
the forward-thinking enthusiasm of today's hard music elite. The band will
enter a Texas studio shortly to record its as-yet-untitled sophomore album
and plans to up the ante with its new material, which is being described
as "more ambitious, more accomplished and simply bigger."

PR reports: Scum Of The Earth (fronted by
former Rob Zombie guitarist, Riggs) is gearing up for another explosive
assault with Sleaze Freak, the follow up to 2004's critically acclaimed
Blah...Blah...Blah...Love Songs For The New Millennium, which spawned the
band's first hit single, "Get Your Dead On." A long time in the making,
Sleaze Freak will be released October 23 on Eclipse Records, just in time
for Halloween. (We'll have a one of kind Scum week here at antiMusic for
Halloween in true Riggs style).
"Bombshell From Hell" is Sleaze Freak 's
first single, which is going for radio adds October 15. A performance video
for the track-directed by Ron Najor (Angels & Airwaves)--was recently
shot in Los Angeles and should invade TV and Internet airwaves within the
next couple of weeks.
The new music, 13 tracks of searing stripper-metal,
capitalizes on the same formula which worked perfectly on BLAH...BLAH...BLAH...,
but with more guitar solos, slick, percussive bass lines and Riggs' trademark
blood-steeped lyrics. The first single, "Bombshell From Hell," flaunts
a hard-driving, instrumentally lacerating sound, which screams out to the
world, letting us know that Scum Of The Earth are unleashed and getting
their dead on once again.- more

antiMusic reports: We reported last week that
the Crock Hall announced their list of 2008 nominees. Keeping with tradition
the aging hippies behind the whole thing made some real head scratching
decision and of course they continue to highlight dead genres over one
of the most long standing genres in popular music for almost 4 decades.
That's right heavy metal got snubbed once again while a disco act got a
nod. Of course the whole crock hall was spearheaded by the guy that brought
us Clay Aiken with his midriff exposed on the cover of his magazine (yes,
Rolling Stone) so these nominees are not surprising at all.
To recap this year's nominees are Madonna,
The Beastie Boys, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer, Leonard Cohen, Afrika
Bambaataa, The Dave Clark Five, The Ventures and Chic. After voting by
the aging hippies that vote on such things, five of these acts will make
the cut.
Curiously absent are some acts that have
had far more impact on popular music and culture including KISS, Rush and
Metallica and other notable bands that were snubbed by the black tie "rock"
posers were Jethro Tull, Styx, Yes, Genesis/Peter Gabriel and Electric
Light Orchestra.
The inclusion of Tull in this group is
a head scratcher as we have to assume the same "industry insiders" that
decided that Tull deserved a metal Grammy over Metallica also take part
in this crock as well.- more
