antiMusic reports: Seattle headbangers Demon Hunter's new album ''Storm the Gates of Hell" which hit stores earlier this month. To celebrate the release we asked Ryan Clark to pick his five favorite tracks from the CD and tell us a bit about each one. Here is Ryan with today's song: A Thread Of Light: This song is about people (parents, mostly) that look to find fault in a band like ours, because of the way we look, or what they perceive us to be.. Never giving us the benefit of the doubt that we might actually have a positive message and something worthwhile for their kids to listen to. The write us off without actually looking close enough to know that we're legitimately decent guys with a good message. Check out previews from the album, grab tour dates and learn more about Demon Hunter (and check out their tattooed friends)

Metal Underground reports: Esteban Parra of The News Journal reports that former ICED EARTH guitarist Ernie Carletti was convicted today (Monday, November 19) of kidnapping and rape in the abduction of a University of Delaware student in 2003. A Superior Court jury found the 32-year-old musician guilty on two counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree kidnapping. The jury acquitted Carletti on a weapons charge. Carletti admitted to abducting the student, shackling her arms and legs then hogtying her at his Maryland home until she began crying. He, however, testified he did not have a gun and he did not rape the woman. "Maybe I wasn't thinking clearly," Carletti said about pulling the woman into his car May 22, 2003, then shackling her arms and legs and duct taping her eyes shut. "It was just part of the effect. I didn't say she wanted it, but she did not deny it."

antiMusic reports: Remember back a short time ago when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were accused of ripping off a Tom Petty classic? Radio guys played the songs back to back and that was pretty convincing. Well it looks like what' good for the Flea is not good for the cable network as they "dream of litigation" against Showtime over the name of their show "Californication". The first season already aired so why they waited til now we do not know. Maybe Fox Mulder has the answer? After all the truth is out there. Billboard has the story: Members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sued Showtime Networks and others over the new television show called "Californication," the same name used by the band for their Grammy-nominated 1999 album. The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court today (Nov. 19), sets out claims under federal trademark law and state unfair competition law. The complaint alleges that the composition entitled "Californication" and the album achieved "extraordinary critical and commercial recognition."

Contact Music reports: The White Stripes rocker Jack White has teamed up with Bob Dylan to complete a series of "unfinished" Hank Williams songs. The Seven Nation Army star is one of a selection of musicians asked by Dylan to work on completing the "lost" songs - some of the final tunes and lyrics written by the late legend. White recorded the unfinished Williams song You Know That I Know at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee with engineer Joe Chiccarelli. Dominic Suchtya, the bassist who guested on the White tracks, says, "Dylan had contacted him (White) to see if he'd like to finish some of these tunes. "No one has heard it as it was a Hank Williams lyric sheet that Jack put to music and edited a bit. Jack was sent most of or all of the unfinished tunes and picked this one to finish.

Punknews.org reports: In an interview with BBC Radio 6 personality Steve Lamacq Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke let the world know the band's grand scheme with their donation-based sale of their recent opus In Rainbows: there was none. Contrary to what seemed to be the case, the band had no plans of turning the industry on it's head as many analysts and bloggers speculated. It seems it was an idea thought up by their management who were reticent to sign a contract without a finished record. The band kept the plan close to themselves with Yorke keeping even his wife in the dark about it and compares the move to leaking the album themselves, only allowing some profit to be made.

TuneLab reports: Private-equity firm Terra Firma, the company that acquired record company EMI in May, is now trying to attract investors by floating a plan that includes drastic cost cuts at the struggling label, according to a story in The New York Post. Terra Firma is considering slashing EMI's fixed costs by $223 million. Under the proposal, EMI would slice $58 million from its A&R and marketing budget. The savings would come from requiring talent scouts to rely more heavily on sites such as MySpace to find talent. The company would also use social-networking sites to promote acts. The plan is only under consideration and final decisions have not been made, one of the label's spokesmen told CNET News.com.
