(antiMusic) Remember back a short time ago when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were accused of ripping off a Tom Petty classic? Radio guys played the songs back to back and that was pretty convincing. Well it looks like what' good for the Flea is not good for the cable network as they "dream of litigation" against Showtime over the name of their show "Californication". The first season already aired so why they waited til now we do not know. Maybe Fox Mulder has the answer? After all the truth is out there. Billboard has the story: Members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sued Showtime Networks and others over the new television show called "Californication," the same name used by the band for their Grammy-nominated 1999 album. The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court today (Nov. 19), sets out claims under federal trademark law and state unfair competition law. The complaint alleges that the composition entitled "Californication" and the album achieved "extraordinary critical and commercial recognition." - more on this story
