Demon Hunter and Dillinger Escape Plan Weeks Preview
antiMusic reports: We hope you are enjoying our artist weeks. We're taking a day off from this week's spotlight to give you a preview of a few artist weeks we have coming up! Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter and Liam Wilson of Dillinger Escape Plan will both give us their five favorite tracks from their respective new CDs. Today we'll preview one track from each upcoming special!

Here is Ryan with "Carry Me Down" from Demon Hunter's new album ''Storm the Gates of Hell" which hit stores last week: This song is about my funeral. It's a song to my loved ones, hopefully giving them some peace about my passing. It's not that I plan on dying any time soon, but I wanted to leave this song as a sort of love letter to my family and friends- explaining that they don't need to mourn for me. Death is inevitable, and I think this song will, in actuality, give people some peace about it, even if it's 60 years from now. Preview some track here http://www.myspace.com/demonhunter

And here is Liam with "82588" from DEP's new album "Ire Works" which hit's stores today!: This is the first of the more aggressive songs we started working on; there were other pieces of things, some of the songs with heavier electronics were jin-jangling around on Ben's bevy of hard drives, but this one was the first thing we started jamming on as a full band in late '05/early '06. It took us almost that whole time to settle on what, or maybe how that middle spaghetti-western/narrative section would end up. Ultimately, I think the studio magic and the wide range of gear we had at our disposal finally settled our scatterbrains about it. This was also one of the last songs we tracked drums for. The long stab pattern that starts at about 1:20 into the song is basically just a latin rhythm that we sped up and twisted beyond recognition...I think a lot of listeners, from their point of view just think that stuff is at worst, random, or otherwise over-thought, but it all seems relatively normal or perhaps crafty from ours. Obscene Beyonce Protest
Contact Music reports: An advertisement featuring a bikini-clad Beyonce Knowles has angered locals in Las Vegas, after they complained the billboard was "obscene". The R+B beauty appears on an advert for the city's KWNZ radio station, but residents in Sin City are petitioning to have the raunchy image taken down.

Resident Pamela Keeney says, "It's obscene. I have my two little grandkids coming over here, and they don't need to be seeing that. You can change the channel on the TV but you can't change that."

But KWNZ has stood by the billboard and has received the backing of city spokesman Chris Good. Scott Seidenstricker, manager of KWNZ, says, "The billboards were taken from publicity shots and this is the way those people perform. - more on this story

Congress Vs Students
antiMusic reports: U.S. politicians continue to be for sale to the highest contributors. Some leading Democrats in the House of Reps introduced a bill last week which basically blackmails universities on behalf of the music and film industries. The same people that reportedly told one student they sued to quit school to pay for the lawsuit.

Here is part of the CNET report: New federal legislation says universities must agree to provide not just deterrents but also "alternatives" to peer-to-peer piracy, such as paying monthly subscription fees to the music industry for their students, on penalty of losing all financial aid for their students.

The U.S. House of Representatives bill , which was introduced late Friday by top Democratic politicians, could give the movie and music industries a new revenue stream by pressuring schools into signing up for monthly subscription services such as Ruckus and Napster. According to the bill, if universities did not agree to test "technology-based deterrents to prevent such illegal activity," all of their students--even ones who don't own a computer--would lose federal financial aid.

Metal Underground reports: 3 Inches Of Blood has kicked out drummer Alexei Rodriguez in the wake of an apparent altercation with SAXON drummer Nigel Glockler at the Hard Rock Hell festival in the UK over the weekend. Classic Rock has posted the following apology from the band:

On behalf of all the members of 3 INCHES OF BLOOD we would like to express the utmost regret and sincere apology regarding the actions of our drummer, Alexei Rodriguez, that occurred in Minehead in the early hours of November 10.

In no way were Alexei's actions a reflection of our band....Alexei's behaviour was appalling and completely unacceptable and it is our decision to immediately remove him from the band. We would like to attempt to repair the damage that has been caused and hope that you will not think of 3 INCHES OF BLOOD as a band that habitually acts in such inappropriate ways." - more on this story

My Bloody Valentine Reunion Confirmed
CMJ reports: After a 10-year hiatus, My Bloody Valentine is reuniting and is set to release a new album in the upcoming year.

Lead guitarist Kevin Shields discussed the group's reunion on Soft Focus, the VBS.TV talk show hosted by DC punk Ian Svenonius.

According to Shields, the three-fourths-completed set sounds very much like what you would expect from the Dubliners, as it picks up literally where they left off, largely consisting of songs that the band was working on when they broke up in 1995 (he and fellow Valentiner Belinda Butcher continued to work on songs into the mid-'90s). Quicks: Weezer Sets Date- Soil Lose Glass- Music World Destruction- Enola Grey RIP
antiMusic reports: Weezer sixth album is set to hit stores on April 22nd, 2008. They either haven't gotten around to naming it or don't want us to know yet. But if you need something to hold you over 'Alone: The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo', will be released on Dec 11th. It's a collection of Rivers demos.

Soil have reportedly had "personal differences" with guitarists Shaun Glass and he has been shown the exit or left, we're not sure which. The band is said to be carrying on as a foursome with their frontman AJ Cavalier filling in the blanks guitarwise.

Billboard is reporting that Canada's Music World is in jeopardy after the market's largest domestically-owned music retailer filed for bankruptcy protection. The chain until recently operated 72 stores, a drop from its peak when it counted more than 100.

My Chemical Romance Pay University
antiMusic reports: University of Maine have reportedly settled with My Chemical Romance after the band pulled out of a performance on the campus at the last minute. According to PunkNews.org "The band was invoiced for all the promotional costs of the performance, which totaled over $20,000. The student government and the band recently announced a settlement, with the band agreeing to pay the University of Maine's Student Government over $20,500 in restitution."

So why did they pull the plug on the show? Drummer Bob Bryar blogged their reason on their Myspace page last week: Hi, it's Bob. We are very sorry about canceling our recent show in Maine. I have been having many problems with my wrists over the past few years. They have been getting worse but I kept playing. I have seen many doctors to get some relief so I wouldn't have to stop playing. I guess I pushed it too hard this time. During our show at Maxwell's I got a golf ball-sized lump in my wrist, I started to not only have pain, but lose control and feeling in my fingers. I went through a process to control the swelling and attempted to play the show with Bon Jovi the next day.

The Bon Jovi show was really bad for me - I was dropping sticks and could barely hit my drums. After that show we decided I had to go get immediate treatment. I had to leave the tour. Being the stubborn person I am, I made a last minute decision to give it another shot on the second Bon Jovi show. It didn't work, we had to cut the set in half. We have a fill in now as I am getting treatment - he learned the songs in one day. We will try our hardest to make the show up to you when the specialists give me the okay. Thanks for understanding. - EmoSpace

Wyclef Jean Starts Youth Programs
antiMusic reports: While other stars start worthless activist groups and launch partisan non-partisan get out the vote groups there are some stars that actually do something that helps people and may in the long run help change things. AP has a story of one such star: Wyclef Jean has announced the creation of several youth-based programs funded by his Yele Haiti charity.

"If you want to change a country, unfortunately, you're not going to be able to help 8 million people at one time," the 35-year-old singer told reporters. "But if you can get one or two or three and start to make that change, that will make the difference."

Yele Haiti will provide computer labs, classrooms and counseling for jailed child gang members, help local women's groups sell food in the seaside slum of Cite Soleil, and establish a youth scholarship and soccer program, Jean said. - more on this story

Driving While Britney Could Be Used Against You In Court
Jam! reports: You know the stupidity over the trials and tribulations of Britney Spears has hit a new low when Fox News has a Britney correspondent. It's true! Then again their leading show is hosted by a former tabloid TV show host. Back on topic now. For those people that actually care about such things as the pop tart's court battle for her children, some bad news just came out. Seems Britney's propensity towards bad driving may be used against her in a court of law. Jam! has the story: There could be more trouble ahead for Britney Spears in her custody battle.

Kevin Federline's lawyer says he may try to subpoena video footage that apparently shows the pop princess running a red light at Hollywood Hills intersection while driving with her two young sons in the back seat.

Attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan says he is weighing whether to seek a subpoena from the court Wednesday for the footage, which was posted on the celebrity news website TMZ.com - more on this story
