Fields
Debut |
PR reports: In what just might be 2007's most
captivating debut album, London-based five piece Fields perform some very
heady musical concocting. "Everything Last Winter", itself a beautifully
evocative title suggestive of things lost and gone and spent, is a hypnotic
brew of psychedelically tinged guitars with little-girl-lost vocals and
occasional bursts of glorious white noise. For the sake of reference, let's
say it brings to mind My Bloody Valentine at their creative peak and the
more pastoral elements of early 1970's folk. It is black and white and
full of colour at once, and it is quite a trip. They are set to perform
on Saturday at this year's Coachella Music and Arts Festival and then a
round of dates opening for Blonde Redhead on the east coast and in Canada.
"Everything Last Winter" will be in stores May 8th.[see full story for

Bum
Rush the Charts |
PR reports: Last week, Podcasters and bloggers
all over the world asked internet users to purchase one song, "Mine Again"
by the independent band Black Lab, on March 22nd. Response to the campaign,
code-named Bum Rush the Charts, was significant, with sales of the previously
unknown song topping 10,000 last Thursday. "Mine Again" cracked the Apple®
iTunes chart at #99 for the week after 24 hours of the word-of-mouth campaign.
Showcasing the concept that good music
isn't all about money, Bum Rush the Charts http://bumrushthecharts.blogspot.com/
organizers established an iTunes affiliate link, donating 5% commission
on every purchase to a college scholarship fund. The Boston-based Student
Loan Network matched the first $1,000 earned in commissions and Black Lab
is donating 50% of all income from "Mine Again" to the fund as well. More
than $5,000 is expected to be raised for the fund from the one-day campaign.

Plea
Deal Goes Busta |
FMQB reports: A Manhattan criminal court judge
has decided to rescind a plea deal she had offered to Busta Rhymes last
month that would have kept him out of jail on two assault charges. Rhymes
had been mulling the offer, which included probation, community service,
anger-management training and a series of lectures to troubled youth. However,
the judge decided to pull the deal off of the table after Busta was arrested
in late February for driving with a suspended license, says MTV News.[see

Your Not For Peace, We'll Kill You! Oh Wait, it's a Santana Peace Concert
DVD, never mind. |
PR reports: The celebrated Eagle Rock “Live
At Montreux” series continues on May 1 with Hymns For Peace: Live At Montreux
2004. On this very special and timely double-DVD, Carlos Santana leads
an all-star lineup of solid artistry. The 183-minute two-disc spectacular
retails for $19.98. An HD-DVD version will be released in June. Coming
on the heels of last year’s massive three-DVD set, Carlos Santana Presents
Blues At Montreux 2004 (Eagle Eye Media), Hymns For Peace features such
great artists as Chick Corea, “Mahavishnu” John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock,
Wayne Shorter, Ravi Coltrane, Idrissa Diop, Angelique Kidjo, Barbara Morrison,

On the hot night of July 15, 2004, this
prestigious Swiss stage played host to a series of percussive jams all
having two things in common, the piercing bell tones of guitarist Santana
and songs that had a clear vibrant message…PEACE NOW. Extras include behind-the-scenes
footage and an interview with Carlos Santana, as well as three bonus tracks,

Snoop
Diddy Tour Dogged By Govt |
PR reports: Despite desperate attempts have
the One Love Peace Tour UK shows go ahead as planned and hoping the government
would reconsider Snoops visa in light of assurances made, the tour has
been cancelled. With late notice of Snoop being denied a visa, time has
ran out and it is too late reconfigure the show. Credible behind the scenes
efforts were made to no avail to reverse the decision.
P. Diddy and Snoop were incredibly disappointed
and devastated by the news. They really did not want to let fans down this
way as the UK was a planned highlight of the tour. However, this ultimately
was a situation out of their control.
UK Ticket holders are advised they can
obtain refunds on their unused tickets at the original point of purchase.

Welcome
to the Suck |
PR reports: What's wrong with having a little
bit of fun with rock n' roll? The Rezidudes are certainly unhappy with
the current over-serious state of rock n' roll and this Manchvegas, New
Hampshire-based quintet are ready to do something about it with their April
1st (yep, April Fool's Day) release for Screaming Ferret Wrecords, 'Welcome
to the Suck.'
Think South Cali pop punk (Me First and
the Gimme Gimme's, Avail, No Use for a Name, etc.) with heavy metal guitars,
and you're not far off from the Rezidudes' musical forte. But instead of
specializing in original compositions, the quintet takes well-known songs
from the 50's through the 80's and transforms them into metal/punk party
anthems - including Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer", John Denver's "Country
Roads" and even the "Theme from Cheers", among others. [see full story

Glenn
Hughes / Chad Smith Book Whisky Gig |
PR reports: Glenn Hughes has been confirmed
to play an exclusive headline performance along with drummer Chad Smith
at Los Angeles’ Whisky A Go Go on Saturday, June 2. This will be Hughes’
first American performance since the release of his debut Demolition Records
album, “Music for the Divine,” on which he worked closely with Red Hot
Chili Peppers drummer Smith.
The Whisky is the venue where Hughes and
his former band Trapeze first made a serious impact in the early ‘70s in
America, so it is a fitting venue for Hughes to perform new music from
this phase of his storied career. [see full story for more]-

Soph
Motor |
PR reports: Less than a year since the release
of their debut metallic monster Klunk the MOTOR duo of Mr. No and Bryan
Black are back. Their second album Unhuman - featuring the US bonus track
'Don't Stop' - rolls out of the garage May 22, 2007 with gleaming chromed
wings, plush leather upholstery and a bit of nitro injection in the under-carriage.
While electronic live acts have merged
further into the anonymity of the DJ booth, MOTOR guzzle petrol, bellow
toxic fumes and roar from the stage as all three band members wrestle with
vocal duties and (alter) egos over their instruments. It's this energy
that has enabled MOTOR to play live gigs as well as landmark club venues
such as London's Fabric, Frankfurt's Cocoon and Paris's Rex and festivals
throughout Europe such as Pukkelpop with Daft Punk and I Love Techno with
Kraftwerk.[see full story for more]- Click

Limbeck
Grow Up |
PR reports: For their third full-length self-titled
record, southern California's Limbeck are forging into new sonic territory
with their alt-country indie pop. Known for their constant touring, the
band took a break from the road to spend time experimenting in the studio
and looked to new instrumentation in the form of a ukelele, bar chimes,
vocoder, horns and string arrangements to flesh out their new batch of
songs. The resulting album shows a grown-up Limbeck, mixing new sounds
and complex arrangements with their warm signature alt-country sensibilities.
The band will be adding a fifth member
to their touring lineup to bring their new sound to life, marking their
upcoming Spring tour one not to miss.[see full story for dates]-

Axe Return with Waters Rising |
PR reports: Opening for the likes of Ratt,
Poison, Queensryche, Krokus, Stryper and Lita Ford, working with some of
rock's most respected producers and scoring several 'Headbangers Ball'
approved video clips, Lillian Axe certainly carved (or perhaps more appropriately,
chopped) a niche for themselves with metalheads worldwide during the '80s
and '90s. And now, after an extended hiatus, the group - which is now comprised
of Derrick LeFevre (lead vocals), Steve Blaze (lead guitars/vocals), Sam
Poitevent (guitars/vocals), Eric Morris (bass), and Ken Koudelka (drums)
- has unleashed their first new studio album in nearly fifteen years (and
first for the Metro City Records label), titled 'Waters Rising.'
"This album has been conceptually in the
works for years. 'Waters Rising' represents the boiling point factor, that
life seems to be a tumultuous ride always on the brink of explosion. These
recent times on this planet seem to be proving this point. However, in
each individual is the point where you reconcile this within your spirit
and peace takes over allowing you to cope more effectively. The songs on
this record cover the different ways that we deal with this factor and
the fact that everyone is trying to make sense of it."[see full story for

Nation CD/Tour |
PR reports: Irish/English duo VNV Nation are
set to unleash their seventh album of frosty, industrial-dance April 10th
via Metropolis Records. The album comes along with an extensive tour of
the states, and a spot on this year’s star-studded Coachella bill. Judgement
continues to refine the raw, punchy sound of past releases, mining a new-fangled
love for trance music and a time-tested appreciation for boney electro-punk
and deathrock. Have a listen to the piston-pumps and buzzing synths of
“The Farthest Star” or the motorik stomp of “Nemesis.”
