DiR reports: We're celebrating the release
of Evans Blue new CD, "THE PURSUIT BEGINS WHEN THIS portrayal OF LIFE ENDS,"
this week. We asked the band to pick their five favorite tracks from the
CD and tell us a little bit about each one.
Today they tell us about Kiss The Flag:
A song that describes a situation of someone going off and
fighting for their country. I don't say
whether I think war is right or wrong. I don't feel it is my place to force
my opinion on such an intense subject because is the grand scheme, who
am I? I merely relay what has happened in the past and I put the burden
on the listener to decide how they feel about it. I feel that being subtle
is the most effective way of creating change. If people come to their own
conclusions on an issue they are much more likely to take that point of
view and be passionate about it and perhaps do something that causes a
change for the positive.- Grab

PR reports: Late Friday night while driving
to Calgary the members in National Product totaled their van. Luckily everyone
in the band is fine. The following is written by singer Danny Casler:
Long story short, we were driving from
an amazing show in Regina to Calgary . We started to smell brakes burning
and assumed it was the semi truck in front of us. As we were coming down
the hill going about 70+ mph our driver mentioned that he felt we were
losing power and not more than 30 seconds after that our van slammed to
the pavement and we started to fish-tale with a full trailer. Everybody
was scared to death just from the slamming down. We thought our tire blew.
That's when we looked out the window, still skidding 150 yards towards
a revine/stream and light pole, and we saw OUR tire on FIRE rolling past
us. We finally came to a stop and our breakwell completely burst into flames
and the majority of the dudes took off. Our tour manager and I grabbed
the cooler which contained melted ice, 5 Pabst Blue Ribbons and a bottle
of water.- more

PR reports: Lawyers for Amaru Entertainment
and Afeni Shakur, co-administrator of the Tupac Shakur Estate, filed for
an injunction against Death Row Records, Inc. and R. Todd Neilson, as Chapter
11 Trustee, to prohibit the inclusion of Tupac Shakur's unreleased tracks,
compositions or sound recordings in the auction of Death Row Records. The
adversary complaint was filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for
the Central District of California in Los Angeles today, July 20, 2007.
The injunction sought to restrain the sale
of certain assets belonging to the Tupac Estate which are being touted
as part of the Death Row Records bankruptcy assets. With closed bidding
ending today, lawyers for the Tupac Estate sought full disclosure by the
Bankruptcy Trustee's counsel that the unreleased master recordings in question
were not part of the sale. In actuality, the recordings should have been
turned over to the Tupac Shakur Estate in 1997, pursuant to a settlement
agreement reached with Death Row Records.- more

Contact Music reports: Sum 41 frontman Deryck
Whibley was threatened with deportation from the U.S. after a journalist
took offence at negative lyrics he wrote about President George W. Bush.
The Canadian rockers' song March of the Dogs contains the words: "The president
of the United States of America is dead... And now the president's dead/
Because they blew off his head..." [such deep thinkers]
And one writer went to extreme lengths
to have the band removed from the country over the controversial words
- by calling on politicians to exercise their power against Sum 41.
Whibley explains, "He (the reporter) went
to the House minority leader in the States (a Republican), who tried to
have me deported, trying to say I'm threatening the president." [what no
name for this reporter?] - more
