Who Won Grammys?
antiMusic reports: It felt a little like 1983 when the Police opened the Grammy telecast with their classic "Roxanne". That was the highlight as most of the night showed how far music has fallen in the 20+ years since they scored that hit. There were a few exceptions but that definitely didn't include Mary J. Blige's insanely long ramblings where she thanked everyone on earth and heaven. Like the energizer bunny she kept going and going even after the producers brought on the music to get her off the stage. Milk those 15 minutes! It's also great to see the Academy ignoring music sales trends with an overabundance of rap/R&B awards to help try to bolster the sagging genres, while only giving cursory recognition to genres that sell more (e.g. rock, alternative and metal –see full story for those numbers). Here is the complete list of winners for those that follow such things or need to be told what to listen to.

Hard Rock Performance: "Woman" - Wolfmother.

Metal Performance: "Eyes of the Insane" - Slayer.

Solo Rock Vocal Performance: "Someday Baby" - Bob Dylan.

Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal: "Dani California" - Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Rock Instrumental Performance: "The Wizard Turns On ... " - the Flaming Lips.

Rock Song: "Dani California" - Flea, John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) [see full story for the rest of the list]

We are finishing up the last couple weeks of pre-production on the album and... really... seriously... (drumroll)... we're going to start recording on March 12th. We're pretty f**kin' psyched about it and pretty f**kin' psyched to be sharing this experience with Rick.

But wait... there's more. We kinda sorta figured that by the time June rolled around, we would be ready for a break from recording (escape??) and since we had so much fun in Europe last summer, we thought "why not go back for some more fun and games?" We're planning to share the summer love with our friends in some different countries we didn't get to last year[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Hell Freezes Over, Slayer Wins Grammy
PR reports: Slayer, the undisputed kings of thrash/punk/metal have been awarded their first-ever Grammy Award. The track, "Eyes of the Insane," from the band's most recent album, "Christ Illusion," took the Grammy in the category of Best Metal Performance. Fellow category nominees included Lamb of God, Mastodon, Ministry and Stone Sour.

This was Slayer's second Grammy nomination, the first being in 2002 for the track "Disciple" (from "God Hates Us All"), also in the Best Metal Performance category. Slayer, currently headlining a North American tour, did not attend the Grammy's presentation, but vocalist/bassist Tom Araya had this to say about the win from his hotel room in Columbus, OH: " Jeff [Hanneman] and I put a lot into 'Eyes of the Insane' so we're thrilled that the Grammy voters took the time to listen to it, and then vote for it. We're out here on the road and we're all really, really happy."- Click Here for the Full Story
