touring and LL Management -- both companies that arrange touring on behalf
of Guns N' Roses. Starlift also supplies sets, stage production items and

E! reports: Did he really want to hurt him?
Boy George was arrested on suspicion of assault and wrongful imprisonment
early Saturday morning after his latest muse filed a complaint against
him, according to Scotland Yard.
Auden Carlsen, 28, told Britain's Sun tabloid
that he "was convinced [he] was going to die" at George's East London home,
where the former Culture Club frontman had supposedly invited Carlsen to
pose for some photographs.
...After George took photos of Carlsen
in some erotic getups, the amateur shutterbug and an unidentified man handcuffed
him to a hook on the wall in a bedroom and then, after the second guy left,
George whipped out a box of, er, whips and other kinky items, Carlsen related.-

Gigwise reports: 50 Cent has been feeling
the wrath of a Christian organisation calling for him to stop wearing crosses.
The rapper, famous for his bling attire,
is being targeted by the group named The Resistance - because of his
provocative lyrics and actions and what they claim are the negative connotations
tied to wearing the jewellery.
Group founder Mark Dice said: "50 Cent
is not Christian and if you listen to his lyrics it becomes clear that
he is more of a Satanist than anything. He is defaming the cross and committing
blasphemy by wearing it while he raps about killing people for no reason...I
think a large diamond studded platinum satanic pentagram would be a little
more fitting." [see the full story for the Fiddy response] -

KNAC reports: The estate of "Dimebag" Darrell
Abbott, the Damageplan/ex-Pantera guitarist who died in a 2004 shooting
at Alrosa Villa, has reached a settlement in its wrongful-death lawsuit
against the North Side nightclub.
The lawsuit was dismissed this week after
Abbott's family and two band employees injured in the shooting agreed to
a "nominal settlement," said Rebecca Price, an attorney for the club. She
would not disclose terms of the agreement.
"What happened here on Dec. 8, 2004, was
a tragedy for everyone and our hearts go out to the victims and their families,"
Alrosa Villa manager Rick Cautela said in a statement issued by Price.

Rockdirt reports: Amy Lee posted the following
message to fans on Evanescence's Myspace page on Sunday (May 6): "Evanescence
is alive and well. John and Rocky were in Evanescence for four years and
we shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to
move on and so we have parted ways. Evanescence is something I have loved
and nurtured since I was fourteen, and I will continue to protect and fight
for it as I always have. Terry, Tim and I are very excited to play live
with some amazing new musicians and we will rock harder than ever. Stay
tuned for more news on that front. And don't worry about the tour, guys.
Nothing will be cancelled and we will see you soon!"
Former Evanescence drummer Rocky Gray issued
a statement regarding his departure from the band, following the band's
former guitarist John LeCompt's exit. "Amy Lee's management emailed me
last night to tell me that, in their view, the contract I signed to record,
perform and tour with the group says that I'm not allowed to have any free
speech in regard to Evanescence," Gray said from his home in Arkansas.
"The way they spin it, I'm not even allowed
to say I quit the group, I guess. But the news is out there, so, there
ya' go. I need to have a lawyer read over all that mess to tell me what,
when and how I can tell you all -- the REAL FANS -- what really went down,
if I ever can, haha."- more

Hecklerspray reports: George Michael knows
more about hard work more than anyone else who has ever lived, so it's
only to be expected that occasionally his work-frazzled brain will shut
down completely, leaving him slumped over the wheel of his car at midnight.
That's more or less what George Michael
admitted earlier today in court as he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving
while unfit through drugs. Somehow, however, George Michael managed to
make it sound like he passed out at the wheel of a car at a junction in
Cricklewood because he works too bloody hard all the time and not because
he'd been busy throwing prescription drugs down his gobhole like Pac-Man
at an all-night rave.
And quite right too - putting out a string
of underperforming singles for a decade can really take it out of a man,

Blabbermouth reports: According to GnrDaily.com,
Matt Pains of Metromix Chicago recently interviewed VELVET REVOLVER frontman
Scott Weiland. When asked about his relationship (or lack thereof) with
GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose, Weiland replied, "Oh, man. I have never
spoken to him, but I've gotten messages from him through [VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS
N' ROSES drummer] Matt Sorum. They speak every once in awhile. I know that
[Axl] was a fan of STP back in the early days of GUNS. Well, I guess it
wasn't the early days; it was just sort of mid-days, early-mid days ...
I think that depending on his mood he vacillates between being into
the idea [of Weiland playing with former GUNS members] and kinda diggin'
it and then hating my guts."
After reading the interview, the webmaser
of the GUNS N' ROSES fan site Here Today
Gone To Hell! contacted Beta
Lebeis (Axl's assistant and close friend) to check the validity of Scott's
quote. Here is her response: "Though Axl spoke with Matt roughly a year
ago, Scott doesn't interest Axl, there are no messages, no vacillating,
no messages were given to Matt by Axl for Scott. In fact earlier on the
same night that Axl ended up speaking with Matt when Scott saw Axl enter
the same club that he and Matt were in, Scott immediately RAN out of the
club which Axl's guests found mildly amusing, beyond that nothing.
"I was the one whom Slash spoke with when
he came to Axl's house in 2005 and expressed his negative comments regarding
the others in his new band. Behind the scenes it is a very different story
than what the public is sold."- more

Contact Music reports: A Southampton, England
tribunal has found STING and his wife TRUDIE STYLER guilty of "shameful
conduct" when they fired former chef Jane Martin while she was pregnant.
Martin's GBP28,000 ($56,000) a year job with the Sting, real name Gordon
Sumner, and Styler was terminated in April 2006 after eight years of service.
A tribunal has ruled the couple had unfairly
dismissed Martin and that she had been the victim of sexual discrimination.
The tribunal heard in March (07) how Styler created an "climate of fear"
over her staff. Martin claimed she was forced to work 14 hour days while
pregnant and Styler was not sympathetic when she experienced sickness early
in her pregnancy.
Styler was alleged to have raged, "Who
the f**k does she think she is? She's my chef in the UK. She needs to be
available if I need her, or she should rethink her position," when Martin
fell ill with stomach trouble.- more

food poisoning at his restaurant. Welcome to the brown parade!
After a gig at the nearby College of William

Leafe Cafe. Shortly afterwards, the musicians (and other patrons) got sick,
which forced MCR and Muse to cancel several dates on their tour.

Romance fans have been leaving him death threats. Holy crap! While the

"Last night marked the end of the line
for Mike Justian with Unearth. There are many reasons why we decided it

dirty laundry. We will say that we grew apart as individuals and as musicians
and the split will be best for both the band and Mike.

punkbands reports: Last night, Kill Your Idols
was supposed to play their last show at a lodge in Smithtown, New York.
Unfortunately, when openers Crime In Stereo started playing, the cops showed
up and shut the show down. According to KYI, that's when "things got interesting."
Here's how they put it... We decided to
try and salvage the evening for anyone who traveled long distances (Europe,
Chicago, Detroit, Florida, LA...) by doing a small show in the Down in
the Fourth practice space. Somehow, like 200 plus kids got wind of our
plan and just showed up....and we ended up having to put it on out in the
parking lot...at 10:30 at night!!!!
We were s***ting our pants. I was like,
"I'm going to jail tonight, for sure". It went off as smooth as I think
it could have. I never experienced anything like this before...But it was
definitley testimony to what KYI has always been about from day 1. We could
never exist if it wasnt for our friends...NOT FANS. FRIENDS..-

Gigwise reports: Bruce Springsteen's 'Born
In The USA' has been voted the greatest rock album of all time in a new
poll. The 1984 album beat off competition from bands including Nirvana
and The Clash to top the survey, which was carried out in conjunction with
a new BBC rock documentary.
[for some very strange reason] Dire Straits
1985 album 'Brothers In Arms,' came in at number two in the poll, just
ahead of Nirvana's seminal 1991 album, 'Nevermind,' which was described
as a "snapshot of those times."

Idolator reports: The latest issue of Wired
has a lengthy, utterly creeptastic story about Linkin Park frontman Chester
Bennington, who was cyberstalked by an employee of Sandia National Laboratories--a
federal nuclear-research facility--for more than a year, and how the woman
who did it--changing passwords and sending out spoofed e-mails all along--found
out how to access his personal information:
The stalking started after she saw Chester's
email address inadvertently CC'd in a mass mailing to promote a tattoo
parlor he owned in Tempe.
Using Chester's birthday and zip code to
access his Mac.com account, she started guessing passwords until she found
the right one: his middle name, Charlie. [see full story for more and yes

just three new songs off their eagerly anticipated third album, 'Our Love
To Admire,' at a London show, on May 15th.
The bands drummer, Sam Fogarino said: "The
advent of youtube, to have your record portrayed in such a low fidelity
medium is awful. I mean it's flattering that somebody feels the need to
get the live performances up of these songs right away, but the thought
of having our whole album on a DV cassette through some broadband wire

Idolator reports: Yesterday, the LA Times
ran an article on the RIAA's efforts to collect royalties from broadcast
radio stations, who have, since radio's inception, not paid artists and
labels after playing their songs. The argument for letting radio off the
hook for these royalties revolved around the idea of radio stations offering
free promotion for singles and albums, thus spurring sales and getting
money into artists' pockets. Now, though, with sales in the tank, the RIAA
is looking to establish a royalty structure for over-the-air broadcasters,
and legislators like California representative Howard L. Berman are on
the organization's side.
The weird thing about all this? It was
probably unintentional, but the Times piece curiously echoed a 2002 piece
from the satirical newspaper The Onion titled "RIAA Sues Radio Stations
For Giving Away Free Music."
After the jump, we pair three sets of quotes
from each article, and invite you to sniff out which quote is from yesterday's
story, and which was culled from the prescient parody. It's actually a
little harder than you might think!- more

Blabbermouth reports: Australia's Herald Sun
recently conducted an interview with NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor.
A few excerpts from the chat follow: Trent:
I steal music too, I'm not
gonna say I don't. But it's tough not to resent people for doing it when
you're the guy making the music that would like to reap a benefit from
that. On the other hand, you got record labels that are doing everything
they can to piss people off and rip them off. I created a little issue
down here because the first thing I did when I got to Sydney is I walk
into HMV, the week the record's out, and I see it on the rack with a bunch
of other releases. And every release I see: $21.99, $22.99, $24.99. And
ours doesn't have a sticker on it. I look close and "Oh, it's $34.99."
So I walk over to see our live DVD "Beside You in Time", and I see that
it's also priced six, seven, eight dollars more than every other disc on
there. And I can't figure out why that would be.
Herald Sun: Did you have a word to anyone?
Trent: Well, in Brisbane I end up meeting
and greeting some record label people, who are pleasant enough, and one
of them is a sales guy, so I say "Why is this the case?" He goes "Because
your packaging is a lot more expensive". I know how much the packaging
costs it costs me, not them, it costs me 83 cents more to have a CD with
the colour-changing ink on it. I'm taking the hit on that, not them. So
I said "Well, it doesn't cost $10 more." "Ah, well, you're right, it doesn't.
Basically it's because we know you've got a core audience that's gonna
buy whatever we put out, so we can charge more for that. It's the pop stuff
we have to discount to get people to buy it. True fans will pay whatever."
And I just said "That's the most insulting thing I've heard. I've garnered
a core audience that you feel it's OK to rip off? F--- you."-

STEVEN TYLER has blasted TV talent shows insisting he could never "endorse
such methods" for discovering new talent. The rocker refuses to watch shows

PR reports: Mickey Leigh, brother of the late
Joey Ramone, has issued the following statement concerning the seeming
endorsement of Doc Martens:
"Obviously, we are in the same position
as Courtney Love, as well as the Estates of the others depicted (in the
ad). We were never consulted about this ad. We were never asked for permission
to use Joey's image, or paid for the use of it. As Executor of my brother's
estate I never would have approved this ad as Joey never wore these shoes.
And, not that my brother was terribly religious, but the fact that he was
Jewish, and this ad is not exactly Kosher, makes it that much more inappropriate,
inconsiderate and contemptible.
"Though we were about to formulate a statement
to the above effect, Courtney certainly has a louder, more influential
voice, and I am thrilled that she got through to the them." [interesting
that they didn't approve the ad before it ran. Maybe the Easter Bunny is
also running things over there. If that's the case he should be given the

Contact Music reports: PET SHOP BOYS frontman
NEIL TENNANT has slammed "campaign concerts" like this summer's (07) Live
Earth gig - because he hates the idea of musicians preaching to the public.
The singer believes it is arrogant to suggest
celebrities know more about big issues than the average person on the street.
And he accuses campaigning rocker Bono of using high-profile do-gooding
concerts such as 1985's Live Aid, Live8 in 2005 and Live Earth in July
(07) to increase his own fame.
Tennant says, "I've always been against
the idea of rock stars lecturing people as if they know something the rest
of us don't - it looks arrogant...
"Bono uses his celebrity but in doing so
he increases his celebrity. I've never been totally convinced that the
rest of U2 feel comfortable with that."

Punknews.org reports: Set Your Goals were
arrested for "disturbing the public" at a mall in Augusta, GA. After spending
over $2,000 on bail the band has been released. Matty Wilson writes:
"So today myself and some of my band went
to the mall with the Fireworks dudes and some kids at the "razzberry cool"
smoothie shop recognized us and hooked us up so we talked to them for a
minute and started chanting "razzberry cool!" in celebration of our new
friends hooking us up with free smoothies.
Little did we know we'd barely get to enjoy
them. As soon as we thanked them and started walking away, 2 sheriffs walked
over and started pushing Fireworks' merch guy Tony and threatening to arrest
him. They tell us to leave so we turn around and start walking away and
after no more than 2 steps they grab Jordan and start cuffing him. We all
turn around and ask what they're doing and they start cuffing all of us
and accusing us of "disorderly conduct" while pushing us down a back hallway.-

Contact Music reports: Shock rocker MARILYN
MANSON turned down the chance to duet with EMINEM on one of the rapper's
first hits - because he felt the song was too misogynistic. Rock Is Dead
singer Manson reveals Eminem approached him with a view to collaborating
on a tune, in which he boasts about killing his girlfriend.
Manson tells Spin magazine, "He asked me
to sing on his first record, and I would have, except that the song he
asked me to sing was... too misogynistic.
"It was the one about killing his girlfriend
and putting her in a trunk. It was on a record I could listen to, but it
was too over-the-top for me to associate with. [just think about that last
statement a moment as you click over to the full story link for more] -
