Lance Bass Calls Out Chris Brown

(Celebuzz) Lance Bass is calling Chris Brown out about a certain word the R&B star should toss from his vernacular.

After a history of the letting the word "f**got" fly, whether it be in his hit "Look At Me Now" or an alleged attack on a fan, Brown has again come under fire for the homophobic slur. In the wake of Brown's brawl with hip-hop artist Frank Ocean in late January, Ocean — who came out in late July — revealed to investigators that he was called the "f" word by a member of Breezy's crew during the fray. And that simply doesn't sit well with the openly gay Bass.

"Calling people faggot and that stuff, I mean, he may not even mean what he means, but it's a derogatory term that people throw out there and without even knowing why they are saying it," Bass told Celebuzz. "But when it comes to Frank Ocean and knowing that he's … very out … it was definitely meant to hurt him. It's never good to throw those words out there that mean so much."

And it upsets Bass all the more that the slur is being thrown around by a minority. "[Brown] should understand that being a black man himself. He should know that the F word is just like calling you the N word in a very derogatory way," Bass said. "When you come from a minority like that, being gay or black or whatever, it's like there should be an understanding, like we all get each other. But you don't see that a lot, which is really sad."

The "f" bomb adds to Brown's already-lengthy track record of a bloody bar brawl, a foul-languaged Twitter feud, a controversial Halloween costume, and an ever-eyebrow-raising love life. And though Ocean opted not to press charges — and authorities will soon close the clash case — the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer landed in more hot water Tuesday when the Los Angeles Country district attorney's office accused him of falsifying court-ordered community service filings

Given Brown's brushes with the law — dating back to his 2009 felony assault of recently reconciled girlfriendRihanna — Bass sees the singer striding down a bad path.

"I think there are a lot of people out there that have anger issues, and you can definitely see that in Chris Brown. I hope he gets the help he needs," said the former 'N Sync member, who now hosts a live SiriusXM radio show called Dirty Pop with Lance Bass. "I hope Rihanna understands what she is in. I see it happen so many times in couples, where it's like an abusive relationship and you don't know it's an abusive relationship."

"I know he's just doing some dumb moves right now," Bass continued. "I think he needs to take responsibility for it. I don't know if it's drugs and alcohol and that type of stuff, but I really hope he comes to think that he's really making dumb decisions right now." more on this story

Brad Paisley Pranked With Probing Interview From 8th Grader

(Radio.com) Any fan of Brad Paisley knows one thing: he loves to prank people! He's pranked The Band Perry by changing their jumbotrons to the Doodlebops, he surprised Darius Rucker at the Grand Ole Opry by pretending to be a fan and asking if he's still the worst poker player in the world and even soaked Blake Shelton with water guns while on stage. But now Tanner in the Morning is giving Brad a taste of his own medicine by having an 8th grade fan interview him with some pretty intrusive questions.

Eighth grader Kayla Jayne was shadowing the Tanner in the Morning show on the very day Brad Paisley was making his radio rounds to promote his upcoming album Wheelhouse, coming out April 9. When she found out, she was beside herself with excitement so Tanner and the crew decided maybe she should take the reigns and interview the "Southern Comfort Zone" singer.

Starting off sweetly, she asked a pretty normal, albeit overused, question. "Who taught you how to play guitar," she asked. Answering promptly he admitted his grandfather was a guitar player just for fun so he would watch him play all day before he went to work, revealing his grandfather even gave him his first guitar.

Then things went a little intrusive. "How much money did you make last year before and after taxes," sweet Kayla Jayne asked nonchalantly. "Thanks for that great question," he began with a laugh before answering candidly "before taxes I made about $250 million… after taxes about $35,000." With immense giggling from the morning show in the background, Kayla continued.

Pulling the reigns back, she asked about his favorite color. "In cars I like blue, in things like guitars and amps… I like bright red." This is where things took a hilarious turn.

"Do you think Kenny Chesney has spent way too much time on an island drinking rum?" Without a second thought, Brad answered with "I do, I think that he needs to become a productive member of society and quit embezzling all his money into a Cayman island account and going down there and spending money illegally in the British territories down there." He continued quickly, "I'm just surprised no one has called him out in the middle of one of our campaigns as somebody who has a lot of offshore accounts." Read more and listen to the interview here.

Taylor Swift To Close The Brit Awards Not Beyonce

Taylor Swift and not Beyonce Knowles is set to be the closing performer at the 2013 Brit Awards later this month.

The event will be taking place on February 20th at the London 02 Arena and Swift has been confirmed as the final performer of the night, according to this report.

Other performers that will be taking the stage for the event include One Direction, Justin Timberlake, Emeli Sande, Mumford & Sons, Muse and Robbie Williams.

Swift will also be battling Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Cat Power and Lana Del Rey for the award for top International Female artist. more on this story

Twilight's Kristen Stewart Lands New Role

Twilight star Kristen Stewart has landed a new film role in the Steven Shainberg's forthcoming comedy "The Big Shoe."

Stewart will have a busy schedule with plans reprise her role in "Snow White and the Huntsman Sequel" and also star in a film called "Focus," which originally was set to star Ben Affleck before he pulled out of the role.

"The Big Shoe" will be Shainberg's first film since 2006's "Fur" and will also star Elizabeth Banks and Jim Sturgess. You can read about the plot outline here.

Han Solo and Boba Fett Focus Of Future Star Wars Films

Some new details about the stand-alone "Star Wars" movies have surfaced in a new report that says one film will likely focus on Han Solo and another will focus on Boba Fett.

A source told Entertainment Weekly that while things are still early in the planning stages and can change, at the moment it looks like one film will center around Han Solo's story during the time period between Revenge of the Sith and the first Star Wars film.

They report that the other film will center on Boba Fett's character and take place sometime between the first Star Wars film and Revenge of the Jedi, the final film in the original trilogy.

These films will not be part of the planned trilogy that will be directed by J.J. Abrams. Read the report for more details.

Miguel and Wiz Khalifa To Perform At Grammys

(Radio.com) With only days until the Grammys, the show announced that Miguel and Wiz Khalifa have been added to the show's performance line-up. And Miguel is starting to feel the pressure.

"I suppose anxiety might be the word," he told Radio.com. "I don't want anything to go wrong."

It's the singer's first performance on the telecast and he wants to impress. "I have something really special planned for that moment," Miguel said. "I can't wait to do it. I can't wait for the day in general."

In addition, the "Adorn" singer is nominated for five awards, including Song Of The Year.

As a kid he watched the GRAMMYs wishing one day he would get a chance to attend and in 2011, Miguel was nominated for co-writing R&B singer Jaheim's song "Finding My Way Back." But, it wasn't exactly what he had imagined. more on this story

How Carrie Underwood Got Blown Away

(Radio.com) After the uptempo pop fun of "Good Girl," the first single from her 2012 album Blown Away, Carrie Underwood chose a song of a different color for her next one. And by different color we mean something much murkier–the dark and stormy title track, "Blown Away."

Earning two Grammy Award nominations this year for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, "Blown Away" was written by Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear. They are the same duo who penned Carrie's 2008 Grammy-winning smash "Before He Cheats." And as the two songwriters told Radio.com, they didn't necessarily set out to write something this dark–much less a song that involved storm cellars, "tear-soaked whiskey memor[ies]," and "sweet revenge."

In fact, things started rather simply–as many songwriter sessions often do. "We began to build drums and the string parts that drive the intro and verse," Chris tells Radio.com. After that, the lyrics just started "leaking out."

"We were searching for a highly dramatic story song," says Josh. "We started with strings and a four-on-the-floor kick drum, still with no idea what the song would be about. At one point Chris decided he wanted to mess around with sound effects and almost instantly landed on these samples of storm sounds." more on this story

John Fogerty Duets Album Loaded With Country Stars

(Radio.com) When John Fogerty delayed his new duets album back in August, it was supposedly to add "new original songs and notable surprises."

Now the former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman has made good on his word, releasing the album's new (star-studded) tracklist. Titled Wrote A Song For Everyone, the album will be released May 28 on Vanguard Records.

The collaborators that were initially announced included not only rock and pop artists like the Foo Fighters, Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Jennifer Hudson, and My Morning Jacket but also several country stars, among them Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, and Keith Urban.

Tyrese Gibson and Rev Run Spread Their Wisdom In New Book

(Radio.com) Tyrese Gibson and Rev Run tackle the mysteries of a man's mind with their new book, Manology: Secrets Of Your Man's Mind Revealed, which hit stores Tuesday (February 5). Equal parts relationship reader and personal confessional, the book promises an honest look into their thoughts.

One of Rev Run's daily "Words of Wisdom" messages, which he sent out to a massive email list, sparked a conversation between the two that spilled over onto the pages of a book.

"When I first got the 'Words of Wisdom' email from Rev that initiated our friendship, he was talking about marriage and cheating and that whole thing," Tyrese told Radio.com.

As the story goes, Tyrese responded to Run's "Words of Wisdom," without knowing that Run, not an autobot, was on the other end of the email.

"Tyrese had a thought to add to my words of wisdom," Rev Run explained. "He was trying to fix my word of wisdom."

Run decided to pick up the phone and reach out to the outspoken singer.

"Our first conversation went on for about 3-4 hours and we've been the best of friends since," Tyrese explained. more.

Paramore Share Their Grammy Picks

(Radio.com) During an exclusive interview with Radio.com, the band Paramore was excited to discuss the rapidly approaching 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards, counting some of this year's most prominent nominees as pals.

"I haven't been this excited about the GRAMMYs in a long time," enthused Taylor York, the band's guitarist. "fun. are some of our best friends and label mates, so we're always rooting for them in every way. We really hope that they take all of them," regarding the band's multiple nods. "Six nominations, that's like Beyoncé status," commented singer Hayley Williams.

"I'm excited about Frank Ocean," York said. "I'm stoked that he got nominated."

"M83 was nominated, which was awesome," Williams offered. "That's good for our producer, JMJ. He's going," referring to Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who produced Paramore's forthcoming self-titled album as well as M83's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, which is nominated for best Alternative Rock Album this year. more.

Mumford & Sons Prepared For Daunting Grammy Performance

(Radio.com) "[It's] a bit daunting but we'd rather play it than just sit in the crowd and be awkward," Marcus Mumford said. "It's better than it could be."

Mumford & Sons are no strangers to the Grammy stage. In 2011 the band performed with Bob Dylan and the Avett Brothers. This year, Mumford & Sons will have the spotlight once more and their nerves are just beginning to take over. Nominated for six Grammys, the band are grateful for the recognition they've been receiving.

"It's been amazing. America has been so good to us," Ben Lovett told MIX 104.1/Boston. "We've been touring really hard here since that performance that we did with Bob Dylan. We're really excited about taking on the responsibility of being a big boy band now and finally trying to step into some shoes. There always has to be a band that goes out and does their thing. We're just trying our best."

Chris Mann Upset With Grammys

(Radio.com) Chris Mann has a bone to pick with the Recording Academy. Ever since Mann was a little boy he has dreamed of winning a Grammy.

"I would venture to guess that any recording artist that says they haven't dreamt of winning a Grammy or written their speech during childhood is totally lying," he told Radio.com.

But after the Academy took away the category for Best Classical Crossover Album in 2012, Mann, who released his debut, Roads, last year, is concerned that he's lost his chance of ever taking home a statue. He was so upset he decided to share his concerns with the head of the Academy.

"The first thing out of my mouth was, 'Why did you get rid of my category? What am I supposed to do, compete with Bieber?'" Mann said.

Though the classical singer believes he would have no prayer of beating someone like Justin Bieber–who actually received zero noms this year–in a pop music category, he's still hopeful he could squeak out a win for Best New Artist. more on this story

Eli Young Band Didn't Know If 'Breaks Your Heart' Would Be A Hit

(Radio.com) The year 2012 proved to be a good one for the Eli Young Band. The group of Texas musicians spent 12 years touring and recording before "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" hit Number One that July. Now the song has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

It was "a song that we really believed in, that we felt told our story," bassist Jon Jones tells Radio.com about "Breaks Your Heart." "We didn't know if it was going to work on country radio because it's such a passion song about playing music. And we were really lucky that people latched onto it and put themselves in the song."

Appearing on the group's 2011 album Life at Best, the song was written by Will Hoge and and Eric Paslay. The Grammy nominations honor both the songwriters of the track and the group's performance of it — marking it as outstanding to the voters of the Recording Academy.

As lead singer Mike Eli tells Radio.com, the four EYB members (Eli, Jones, James Young, Chris Thompson) initially heard "Break Your Heart" on one of Hoge's albums. "When we talked about making the next record, that song just popped up. We knew right away that we wanted to put it on [our] record. Once it crossed our mind, we couldn't get our brain off of it." more on this story

First Look at Al Pacino as Phil Spector

(Radio.com) "I've played this game a million times before! I know how the game is played!" Al Pacino bellows during a meltdown in the trailer for HBO's upcoming Phil Spector biopic, in which he plays the starring role.

And that quote may join "Say hello to my little friend!" and "You're outta order!" and "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" and "Hoo-hah!" as some of the thespian's most famous lines.

The film depicts the famously explosive producer's relationship with his attorney Linda Kenney Baden who defended him during his trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson. Oscar winning actress Helen Mirren plays Baden (and buries her British accent) in the film, which was written and directed by David Mamet.

Pacino seems all-in with the role. Of course, it's no stretch to see his character's temper flaring (see the above quotes), but this might be the first time he's worn a fright wig in a film (à la the giant afro Spector sported at one of his court appearances). Check out the trailer.

Skylar Grey Reflects On Grammy Performance With Eminem and Dr Dre

(Radio.com) "From the time I was a little kid I always dreamed about performing on the Grammys," Skylar Grey told Radio.com.

Her dream finally came true in 2011 when she took the stage alongside Eminem and Dr. Dre to perform "I Need a Doctor."

"That was my ultimate dream. Every year I looked forward to watching them and watching the performances," Grey said.

"Honestly, for the three months leading up to the Grammys I had a feeling that I was going to be performing even though I hadn't heard any confirmation that we actually were," she confessed. "I just had this gut feeling and I was so nervous that I lost weight."

Emeli Sande Says Awards Shows Are Drunken Affairs

(Radio.com) We're deep in the throws of awards show season with the Golden Globes behind us, the Grammys coming up on February 10 and the Oscars still looming and there's one thing the viewing public would love to know: what's it actually like to be there?

Emeli Sandé, known to the entire population of the UK as their country's highest selling artist of 2012 and known to the U.S. as the singer who was controversially cut from the summer Olympics Opening Night coverage, is getting ready for awards season herself. She's nominated for three Brit Awards, which she explained to Radio.com as the UK equivalent of the Grammys.

"So many legends and so many amazing British artists have gone through and been acknowledged by the Brits. It's a big night," Sandé said. She continued, saying the nomination that means the most to her is Best Album.

This is far from her first awards show, however, so we had to ask what it's actually like at these affairs. Sandé's version sounds an awful lot like the shenanigans we expect at the Grammys.

"Every time I've been to an awards ceremony it's quite a drunken affair usually," Sandé admitted. "You sit around in tables and everyone's meeting up. Everyone's so busy throughout the year — people that you've worked with and different artists are all together. Usually people let their hair down. I know the Brits are notorious for that kind of rock & roll party feel." more on this story

Don Was' Greatest Grammy Night Was Also Bonnie Raitt's

(Radio.com) Don Was has had some great experiences at the Grammy Awards. In 1994, he was named Producer of The Year. That same year, he was the musical director for a tribute to Curtis Mayfield that featured Bruce Springsteen, B.B. King and Living Colour's Vernon Reid. In 2009, he got a golden gramophone for Best Musical Album for Children due to his work on Ziggy Marley's Family Time.

But he told Radio.com that his greatest Grammy night was on February 21, 1990, the year Bonnie Raitt took home an armful of awards for her triumphant comeback album, Nick Of Time.

Was produced that album and sat in between Bonnie and her father, Broadway star John Raitt, at the ceremony. He says, "Kids are always looking to validate themselves in their parent's eyes, it doesn't matter how old you are. And especially when you're in the same field as your parents." Lindsay Lohan On Legal Problems: 'It'll Work Itself Out'

Lindsay, back just one week after her court date in LA, AJ asking Lohan, "How's everything going with you in LA? Everything working out?" Lindsay, "It is what it is… so we're figuring... it'll work itself out."

Today The Daily News reporting that her financial trouble led her to move back to New York and that she is living at home with her Mom on Long Island.
