Destiny's Child Reunite For Super Bowl Halftime
(popmusiclife) Beyonce reunited with Destiny's Child during the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans on Sunday.

Opening with a tease of "Love on Top", Beyonce kicked into her first solo single, "Crazy in Love," before hitting "End of Time" from her most recent album, "4", and "Baby Boy."

Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined the singer at center stage for a few tunes, including "Bootylicious" and "Independent Woman: Part 1". Rowland and Williams' microphones were buried in the mix throughout so as not to compete with Beyonce's.

The girls then performed Beyonce's hit, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)", before exiting the stage so the main attraction could wrap things up with her power ballad "Halo". Watch it here.

Morrissey's Medical Problems More Severe Than Reported
Morrissey disclosed to fans that his treatment in a hospital last week was medical problems that were more severe than originally reported.

The singer posted a message to fans to update them on his condition. He wrote, "The reports of my death have been greatly understated. Once admitted to the William Beaumont Hospital at Royal Oak in Michigan, I received treatment for concussion, a bleeding ulcer, and Barrett's esophagus. The positive from all of this is that there are now no known ailments left for me to try.

"I am fully determined to resume the tour on February 9 at the Chelsea Ballroom in Las Vegas. If there's an audience of any kind in attendance, I just might die with a smile on my face, after all. If I am not there, I shall probably never again be anywhere.

"Equally, I am determined to play Flint (Michigan) if it kills me (which, on the face of it, it almost has.)

"Thank you to everyone present at both Brooklyn (New York) and Melbourne (Australia) during recent weeks for two of the best nights of what might charitably be termed my "career". My debt to you will outlive time itself.

Frank Ocean Decides Not To Press Charges Against Chris Brown
Frank Ocean has changed his mind and decided to take the high road and not press charges against Chris Brown over a brawl in a recording studio parking lot last week (January 27th).

Ocean addressed the issue to fans with a posting on his Tumblr page which said, "As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer.

"I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace."

TMZ reported last week that a witness told them that Brown lost his cool in the parking lot of the Westlake Recording Studios in L.A. after Ocean refused to shake his hand.

They were told that Ocean simply laughed at the gesture ... and Brown became so angry that he cold-cocked Ocean and that led to the brawl. Brown's camp reportedly places the blame on Ocean.

Last week it was reported that Ocean did intend to press charges. Radio.com reported that Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told them "Yes he does [want to press charges]. All it means is that he wants it to go forward with the investigation."

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Back Together?
It appears that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's on-again off-again relationship may be on yet again.

Gomez was reportedly seen leaving Bieber's home early Saturday morning after spending the night, according to the Daily News.

They report that this is the first time the couple has seen each other since their reported break up after a fight in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in late-December.

Bieber shared with fans his emotions over the break up in the song "Nothing Like Us," which was released on his new "Believe Acoustic" album.

The lyrics to the chorus go as follows, "Nothing can ever, ever replace you/Nothing can make me feel like you do/You know there's no one I can relate to/I know we won't find a love that's so true/There's nothing like us/There's nothing like you for me".

Former American Idol Contestant Offended By Racism Claim
Former American Idol contestant Jermaine Jones is "offended" that his name was brought into a potential legal battle over claims of racism on the part of the reality show.

The legal documents issued by the attorney who is seeking permission to sue the show on the behalf of nine former contestants who were publicly disqualified, cited Jones's premature elimination from the show, after a background check revealed his prior arrests, as a catalyst for the planned lawsuit, according to TMZ.

"I am offended they tried to paint me as a victim of discrimination," Jones told the site. "I appreciate the experience from 'Idol' and embraced the good and bad from it."

He added, "I have moved on with my life ... and have not authorized them to include me in the accusations."

Oprah Winfrey Exec Alleges She Lost Her Job Because of Pregnancy
Oprah Winfrey is facing a lawsuit from a former female executive that claims she lost her job because she became pregnant, according to TMZ.

They report that Carolyn Hommel filed a lawsuit on Friday that states she was hired in 2010 as senior director of scheduling and acquisitions at Oprah's OWN network.

Hommel claims in the suit that she was told she was on-track to become a Vice President, but that changed when she became pregnant.

The executive says that her duties were slowly transferred to a temporary employee and she was excluded from meetings when she returned from leave.

Hommel says that a month after she gave birth, she was dismissed from her job and instructed to re-apply for the Vice President position but was passed over, according to the report.

She also claims that her supervisor, Michael Garner, fabricated a performance review that "made Hommel's job duties and responsibilities appear less 'senior' and therefore not a candidate for the new vice president position." Read the TMZ report.

Singled Out: IGGY & The German Kids
Today Ignacio Uriarte from IGGY & The German Kids tells us about their latest single "So Hard". The group mixes elements of Brit-pop, electronica and classic rock with unique lyrics to create a style all their own. Here is the story:

This song holds a special place because its the song that started IGGY & The German Kids and the first time I ever collaborated with DTC Productions. At the time I was playing sh*tty club after sh*tty club along the Northeast and had written a bunch of lackluster songs, signed to a small and worthless indie-label in New York and generally wasn't very happy with my career.

I'd first met Freddy and Hubi (DTC Productions/The German Kids) at Oktoberfest in Germany years ago. Around the same time I was hitting my rut they reached out and let me know they were working on some compositions and sent a few over. At the time I was in a relationship with a girl who was just never satisfied. No matter WHAT I would do or try she was always frustrated and upset with me. One night our of nothing more than boredom I played one of the tracks Freddy & Hubi had sent me and recorded a few words not giving it a second thought. A few days later, the guys started bugging me to get back to them or send them a verse or melody for the composition. I listened back and I had sung "you come so hard, nothing can fill you up, I tried to get away, because it hurts too much to stay." I liked the melody at the time but was too lazy to write a chorus.

Soon after I went over to a friends house to record the vocal in order to send the melody idea to Hubi and Freddy. I recorded the verse, and having been emotional about the whole situation with my ex-girlfriend, the sorry state of my career and a general feeling of malaise, I just sang the chorus in one take and upon review found that I made up a place called, "wilder-brook" and something about too much movement there. I'm still not really sure what it means, but it sounds cool.

DTC and I went back and forth and finally finished the song during a marathon recording session we had in Sulden in the Italian Alps. After that we were lucky enough to get a few friends to add their spark to "So Hard," Rudy Bird who was the percussionist for Miles Davis, Lauryn Hill, Nas and Amy Winehouse, played some beautiful percussions over the track and Tino Turner aka. Porkie from Deichkind did us the favor of playing the live bass.

I look at "So Hard" as a sort of new beginning for me musically and personally. The music myself, Freddy and Hubi are making is the best of my career and this was the start of that. It has been a long time in the making but it's a great feeling to finally share the track with everyone. All that's left to do now is look out for what's next!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself right here!

CeeLo Green Releases New Single
(Radio.com) Just because his time as a judge on The Voice is over doesn't mean CeeLo Green is slowing down. In fact, it's the exact opposite.

His latest single "Only You" showcases CeeLo's pristine falsetto with foot-stomping beats and Motown flavor. Sharing the spotlight is Lauriana Mae. While her sultry voice recalls that of Amy Winehouse, Lauriana manages to put her own flavor on the track.

"It's about two people on different paths, hoping for the best, hoping that those paths lead to each other," Green tells Rolling Stone. "It's like love lost or the acknowledgment of a love lost, but it's still optimistic." Check it out here.

Ed Sheeran Plays High School
(Radio.com) There were only around 550 teenage girls in the auditorium at the Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, MA on Thursday afternoon, but the excitement and sound they put out could have filled the TD Garden, some 20 miles to the north in Boston.

They had every right to be excited – their school had come in first place during the Karson & Kennedy Koats for Kids drive – and Grammy Award nominee Ed Sheeran was stopping by their school to congratulate them on their success.

The tight-knit all-girls Catholic high school in Hingham collected almost 3,000 coats to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Boston.

More than 25 schools around the greater Boston area participated, bringing in over 12,000 coats throughout the campaign. But the students of Notre Dame Academy came out on top, and earned their school a concert from Ed Sheeran, who himself is only days away from gracing the GRAMMY stage in Los Angeles. Kix Brooks Discusses Moonshine Road
(Radio.com) Kix Brooks this week released a new video from his 2012 solo album New To This Town, his first solo effort since he and his Brooks & Dunn partner Ronnie Dunn parted ways.

The new video is for Kix's song "Moonshine Road," which is the third single from New To This Town.

"Moonshine Road" was written by Kix and Leslie Satcher. And as Kix explained to Radio.com in a recent interview, the song was "kinda where I started" when it came to putting together songs for New To This Town.

The song must mean a lot to Kix and take him back, because when talking about "Moonshine Road," you can see how much really digs into the details.

"There was this old roadhouse" near where he grew up, he says with a smile on his face, where "we got in fights, we picked up girls, we drank beer, there was always trouble. You knew something was going to happen when you went down there." More here including a stream.

John Mayer Quite Happy With Katy Perry
(Radio.com) In a recent interview John Mayer speaks about living in Montana, his jam band influences and dating Katy Perry.

Yes, in his Q&A with Rolling Stone, Mayer talked about his love life. But the usually chatty singer managed to keep it short and sweet when it came to how it's going with Katy. "I'm quite happy," he said. "I'm happy in all aspects of my life."

In the piece, the singer even hints that marriage isn't out of the realm of possibility for the future. "I want to live a very traditional life with a very untraditional day job," he said. "You know what I mean?"

The singer though was much more direct when it came to talking about his vocal problems. Mayer, who sang for the first time in nearly two years at a benefit show in Montana, takes full blame for his vocal strain explaining that it was a result of his hard partying past.

"You don't realize that when you go out and have a couple drinks and you come back home and you pass out, you're raiding your esophagus with acid from two or three whiskey sours," he said. Read more.
