Amy Winehouse Family Not Happy With Beyonce Cover
(Radio.com) Beyonce and Andre 3000 go "Back to Black" on their Amy Winehouse cover for the upcoming Great Gatsby soundtrack, but Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, wants them to go back to the drawing board.

The cover is an almost unrecognizable reworking of the late songstress' 2007 single, with an experimental, chopped-and-screwed backbeat against the duo's vocals.

The first full clip of the song hit the web over the weekend to mixed reviews from fans, but none as outspoken as Mitch himself. He was quick to express his disappointment in the stripped-down track, which debuted on producer Mark Ronson's East Village Radio show Friday (April 26). Winehouse took to Twitter Saturday (April 27), to share his thoughts, specifically criticizing the OutKast rapper's intro.

He tweeted, "I just heard the Andre part of Back to Black. Terrible. He should have let Beyonce do it all. Mitch"

But he also wasn't too pleased with her performance either. Read about that and hear it for yourself here.

LeAnn Rimes Recruits Jeff Beck, Alison Kraus and More For New Album
Country music star LeAnn Rimes has set a June 4th release date for her brand new studio album, which is entitled "Spitfire."

"Spitfire" will feature some big name collaborations including guitar legend Jeff Beck who appears with Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas on a track called "Gasoline & Matches."

The album, which was co-produced by Darrell Brown, will also feature guest appearances from Alison Kraus and bluegrass star Dan Tyminsky.

Rimes had this to say about the album, "This album is a peek into my world; who I am, what I've gone through, what my emotions are. It's an intimate conversation between me and whoever's listening. I hope I'm saying things that are hard for others to express. It certainly took me a lot of work to get to this point. And it's still easier to sing these thoughts than it is to say them out loud. The intimacy in my music is just beginning." more on this story

Beatles Record Broken By Emeli Sande
Emeli Sande is the latest superstar to takeover the British music scene and proof of that comes with news that she has broken a UK charts record that was set by the Beatles 50 years ago.

Her 2012 debut album, Our Version of Events, has just beat the record set by the Beatles with "Please, Please Me," after her album logged 63 weeks in the top 10.

The album has sold close to 2 million copies in the UK and 3 million copies world wide and claimed the No. 1 spot on the UK charts ten times during the past 63 weeks.

Our Version Of Events was also the biggest selling UK album of 2012, according to Capitol Records and is the biggest selling album of this year so far.

"It feels quite surreal to even have your name mentioned in the same sentence as The Beatles," Sandι told Reuters. She considers the Fab Four "the greatest band of all time."

Will all the success she has achieved in the UK, she now turned her focus to conquering America. "The United States … is a brand new challenge," Sandι said according to the Guardian. "You have to understand the market, the people, you really have to take into account how massive the place is … It's chapter two of this whole big thing."

Toby Keith Pays Tribute To George Jones
(Radio.com) Halfway through Toby Keith's set on Friday night at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio, California, Keith stopped the music to talk about his old friend George Jones, who had passed away that morning.

Keith told the audience what Jones was like and described him as a "great guy and the face of country music everybody recognized." He also reminded the younger generation in the audience to "look him up online."

A few seconds later, he launched into the musical portion of his tribute; "here's a little something you might recognize," he said before strumming the chords to Jones' classic hit "She Thinks I Still Care." Keith would later play his rendition of "White Lighting," another one of Jones' memorable hits.

On the grounds at Stagecoach, California radio station K-FROG 95.1 asked artists for their memories of Jones. You can read what Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley and more had to say here.

Ashton Kutcher Controversy At Stagecoach Music Festival
(Radio.com) Celebrity sightings at music festivals are a common occurrence, spreading across social media like wildfire. From Katy Perry at Coachella to Gaga at Pitchfork Music Festival, they distract attendees from the real situation at hand – the music.

At this past weekend's Stagecoach Music Festival, held in Indio, California, actor Ashton Kutcher had a good view right in the front row. In between playing cornhole in the artist VIP section and chatting up artists and festivalgoers, he tweeted his thoughts of the fest from the front row on Saturday and Sunday.

But it didn't seem to be all fun and games for the Iowa-raised actor. There were various rumors circulating that Kutcher had a "violent confrontation" with festival security shortly before he headed to see Nick 13 and Dwight Yoakam perform.

This isn't the first time Kutcher has rubbed people the wrong way at a country event. Last year, at the Academy of Country Music Awards, he took the stage dressed as a cowboy before handing over the award for Female Vocalist of the Year to Miranda Lambert. Afterward, Lambert and Justin Moore voiced their opinions of the actor on Twitter. Read what they had to say here.

Ray J Uses Kim Kardashian Lookalike In New Video
(Radio.com) Ray J finally released the video for "I Hit It First," the controversial song that makes a reference to his ex girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, with whom he made an infamous sex tape in 2007.

In the video, which premiered online Monday (April 29), Ray J aims his lens at a Kim Kardashian lookalike and makes reference to their home video romp with a camera screen displaying a flashing record button.

In the final scene of the video, Ray J watches the faux Kardashian on TV as she is mobbed by paparazzi. He gives a sly smile at the camera as his vocals can be heard playing: "I put her on…"

Since the release of the sex tape, Kardashian's popularity has grown, with her subsequent relationships garnering a great deal of public attention. She has dated football star Reggie Bush and married NBA player Kris Humphries. She is now pregnant with Kanye West's child. Ray J leaves none of these stones unturned.

Surviving Monkees Plan Summer Tour
The surviving members of The Monkees will be reuniting once again this summer and will be launching a 24-date North American tour.

The tour will feature Monkees stars Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork and has been dubbed A Midsummer's Night With the Monkees.

The trek will kick off on July 15th at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY and is set to conclude on August 18th in Portland, OR at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

The three launched a reunion tour in 2012 where they paid tribute to Davy Jones who had passed away earlier in the year. The group plan to change focus for this new tour.

"This time we probably won't lean so heavily on the David situation," Dolenz told Rolling Stone. "I think we have to move on. Everybody has to move on. He'll always be remembered and acknowledged, but possibly not as much as on that particular tour. We will, of course, still perform 'Daydream Believer' and all the other hits." more on this story

Beyonce's Little Sister Solange Impresses With Brooklyn Concert
(Radio.com) Her big sister Beyonce might be taking over Europe with the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, but Solange was busy wowing the crowd in Brooklyn this past Friday night (April 26).

The neo-soul indie diva headlined the second night of the Crossing Brooklyn Ferry Festival at BAM, curated by Aaron and Bryce Dessner from the National, and let everyone know they were not excused from dancing. And we're not just talking about swaying from side to side. No, Solange wanted to turn the concert hall into a junior high school dance.

Solange even called out a guy in the front row, shouting, "This fella in the white shirt, you are not exempt from grinding, baby!"

While Beyoncι won't let professional photographers into her show for fears of an unflattering photo being taken, Solange wasn't afraid to show a little sweat. Before the encore, Solange ran off stage and when she returned she let the crowd know that she wasn't looking for a big applause or anything to bring her back out, she just needed a little breather. "I'm just an out of shape b****!" she said with a giggle. Read more and see photos here.

Hanson Flashback On MMMBop
(Radio.com) Welcome to Radio Feedback, Radio.com's weekly feature where we ask artists to wax nostalgic on the first time they heard themselves on the radio. This week features Hanson and their No. 1 hit "MMMBop."

"We were just a garage band that got lucky that our first record became something far-reaching," Taylor Hanson told Radio.com. "We've spent the last 16 years continuing to do that, and 'MMMBop' is a big part of that story,"

It was nearly impossible to go anywhere the summer of 1997 and not hear Hanson's "MMMBop" on the radio. The song lead to three GRAMMY nominations for Hanson, including Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocal. At age 12, drummer Zac Hanson became the youngest GRAMMY-nominated songwriter ever.

Celebrating their 21st anniversary as a band this year, the brothers Hanson (Taylor, Zac and Isaac) recently sat down with Radio.com to discuss the song that made them a household name and where they were the very first time they heard it on the radio.

"The first time we heard our song was in New York City," Zac recalled. Taylor and Isaac chimed in with the specifics.

Singled Out: Sara Melson's What Are You Waiting For
Today Sara Melson tells us about her new single "What Are You Waiting For" from her brand new album "A Million White Stars", which is being released today (April 30th). Here is the story:

I went over to my friend Rich Jacques's place one afternoon. We were getting together to co-write a song that we were planning to submit for a film. I had brought my journal with my lyrics, and was leafing through it to find something appropriate that could possibly work thematically for the movie. I was paging through my many lyrics and scribblings and happened upon a poem I had written a few nights before. Literally this poem had woken me up out of sleep. I always keep pen and paper next to me beside the bed, in case that happens. Anyway, this one night I guess I was fantasizing about getting out of the city and into the woods, the mountains, the trees. These verses had popped into my head about getting into nature, about the urge to bust out of town and go on a road trip, a wilderness adventure. A lot of the images are based on nostalgia for places I've been. I've spent a lot of time over the years back-country hiking and camping, especially in Northern California and Big Sur. When I feel stuck in my city rut, I find I miss it and think about it a lot: the quiet and majesty of standing under the giant trees, feeling the soft earth underfoot, swimming in a mirror-clear lake... So anyway, I read the words out loud to Rich. The way they sounded had this sort of built-in rhythm to them, and he picked up his guitar and started strumming that opening riff. I started singing the words into a melody, and he just followed me on the guitar. We both got pretty excited about it and decided to record that, instead of the assignment for the movie! We spent the rest of the afternoon on it, and it just flowed effortlessly. The whole song took us about four hours total, to write and record. Then we gave it to Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Raveonettes) to mix.

Lyrically, the song is sort of an interesting blend for me between personal and universal. I feel like the verses are really my own fantasy, and the choruses are basically a call to the rest of humanity to wake up and do the same thing... Get back into nature and to our true selves. I feel like our city life, priorities, and pursuits can blind us to who we really are and where our souls really belong. We forget that we are truly children of the natural world, and part of it, and that's what the chorus is about. It's a reminder, and also a call to action. When I went to record my vocal, Rich initially stopped me. I was fighting a cold that day and could barely sing. I felt like I was croaking, my voice was so hoarse. Rich told me to just let it out, and shout if I felt like it. He was like, "Go for it, make it raw, messy, imperfect." So I started over, and sang it through that way. I just went for it. So what you hear is one take, that first take. It's definitely different from how I would sing a ballad. It's kind of a different color of my voice, of my personality, my essence. So it was a really fun song to record for that reason. Plus, I love Rich's production; it's so driving, which is perfect for a road trip song. It was the first time we'd ever written anything together. I think that day we both realized we make a pretty good writing team!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
