Weird Al Takes On Lady Gaga
Weird Al Yankovic had an up and down day yesterday over his parody of Born This Way by Lady Gaga called Perform This Way. The day started with Al telling fans that Gaga had denied permission for him to release the track... but it turns out that she loved it... it was her manager who made the blunder. Here is what Al had to say:

After putting my Lady Gaga parody on YouTube this morning – and announcing that it wouldn't be on my next album because Gaga didn't approve it – there was a huge outpouring of disappointment from the Internet.

Apparently the fact that she didn't approve it was news to Lady Gaga herself! Gaga's manager has now admitted that he never forwarded my parody to Gaga – she had no idea at all. Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that's what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own. more including video link

The Salahis tell TMZ the man in question placed a call to the Sheriff's Department in Fauquier County, VA last Sunday -- and falsely reported that Tareq had broken into a winery co-owned by Tareq's family.

Deputies tell us they found no evidence of a break-in -- but they were called back to the winery when Tareq and Michaele found out the original call came from the alleged stalker. more on this story

Singled Out: The Bell's Whatever Did You Say?
Today Mathias Strφmberg from indie pop band The Bell tells us about "Whatever Did You Say?" from their brand new album "Great Heat". Here is the story:

This is one of the songs where we have to ask ourselves "can it really be this simple?" because the basic structure, riff-, melody- and otherwise is so self confident, so as-a-matter-a-fact it almost cannot be avoided.

We used our basic (digital) base and drum machine set up and the song was
there in an instant. The lyrics started out with the whole whatever-did-you-say lyrical thing just repeated over and over and it laid the groundwork for quite a simplistic song.

After that we embroided it, putting that Blue Monday-esque baseline in there and Mathias worked out the lyrics and found/invented some sort of deeper meaning. It's total craftmanship, it really is.

We love to work on our tracks and compositions as little pop projects rather than bleeding them out in some sort of rock'n'roll session. This is a typical product of that track of thought. In fact, it's almost mathematics.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Fox Not Buying the Dodgers
(TMZ) Despite Frank McCourt getting a $30 million personal loan from FOX -- the network is NOT in the market to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers from its embattled owner.

Sources connected with the team tell us FOX is not interested in buying back the franchise it sold to McCourt in 2003 -- and even though MLB just took control of Doyer finances ... McCourt's not talking about selling.

We're told the main reason there won't be a Dodgers-FOX reunion is it's a bad business model for the network. Put simply, there's better money in airing baseball games than running baseball teams. more on this story
