Bobby Womack Guests on Gorillaz Tour
You can catch Bobby Womack on stage with Gorillaz this month as a featured performer on their Escape To Plastic Beach Tour with a stop at New York's Madison Square Garden on Friday, October 8th.

The band have managed to get various guest singers from their three albums to join them live this year, and have announced that in addition to Womack, Mos Def, De La Soul and The Fall's Mark E Smith are on board. N.E.R.D. are appearing on Plastic Beach U.S. tour dates in the support.

Womack has been called soul music's "only survivor" but his influence transcends many genres of music including gospel, rock, r&b, jazz, pop and, even, country. He started out performing gospel as a child (as part of the Womack Brothers) and later, under the tutelage of Sam Cooke broke new ground in rhythm and blues when the Womack Brothers were transformed into The Valentinos and hit with "It's All Over Now." That song was almost immediately covered by The Rolling Stones and would go on to be the group's very first hit.

Tyler Hilton High School Tour
(WBR) Tyler Hilton has launched a U.S. fall tour during which he will perform shows at high schools across the country during the day and club shows at night with his Warner Bros. Records labelmate Josiah Leming. The tour criss-crosses the country through November 17th.

This week, Hilton will also perform for students at three California high schools: Upland High in Upland on October 6th, Sheldon High in Sacramento on October 7th, and Turlock High in Turlock on October 8th. At Upland High, Hilton will meet with the drama department to read lines with the students; at Sheldon High, a "press conference" will be held with all the creative departments' teachers and students; and at Turlock High, Hilton will take photos for a full-page in the school's yearbook.

While on the road, the Palm Springs, CA, native will perform songs from his upcoming new album, entitled The Storms We Share, which is due from Reprise Records in early 2011. The album, which was produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) and Matt Serletic (Matchbox Twenty, Collective Soul), is the eagerly awaited follow-up to Hilton's 2004 major-label debut The Tracks of Tyler Hilton — an appealing slice of strummy pop Americana that spawned two Top 40 singles "When It Comes" and "How Love Should Be."

Freezepop's Imaginary Friends Arrive in December
Freezepop have announced a December 7th, 2010 release date for their fourth full-length album, Imaginary Friends.

Freezepop was born in the mind of founding member Kasson Crooker (aka "The Duke") during the idle hours spent tinkering with a Yamaha QY-70 in a van between gigs with his previous band.

Upon returning to Boston at the end of the tour, The Duke recruited Jussi Gamache (aka "Liz Enthusiasm") as his vocalist and Sean Drinkwater as keyboardist. The young trio set forth to develop a project based on minimal synthpop in a time when electropop was still only a blip on the indie radar. - more on this story
