Ann Savoy & Her Sleepless Knights sophomore album, out July 7th from Memphis International, finds Ann and the guys doing what they do best: taking standards of the pop, blues and French variety, both familiar and obscure, and making them their own. In his liner notes, T Bone Burnett, a long-time Ann fan, notes, "She doesn't imitate the past, she animates it
" It's an assertion that is easily verified with even the most cursory listening to the new album where Ann is again backed by the stellar "Le Hot Club of Paris"-inspired combo fronted by Tom Mitchell (guitar) and Kevin Wimmer (fiddle) with Eric Frey on upright bass, Chas Justus on rhythm guitar and Glenn Fields on drums. While Ann had long been associated with traditional Cajun music as a result of her work with the Savoy Family Band (the Savoy-only group that includes husband Marc, youngest son Wilson and Black Coffee co-producer and eldest son Joel) as well as with the Savoy-Ducet Band, Black Coffee is just not that kind of record.

UK producers and remix sensations Mock & Toof are rolling through with their debut full-length Tuning Echoes set for release May 24th. Riding a reputation as one of the most sought after acts on the DJ circuit, Mock & Toof demonstrate what happens when one combines an education in house music with a love of experimental pop and psychedelic rock. Duncan Stump (Mock) & Nick Woolfson (Toof) are two of the UK's most creative music producers. Having made a name for themselves via 12" releases on James Murphy's DFA Recordings and their own Tiny Sticks imprint; the pair have forged a reputation for brilliantly off-kilter, disco-fuelled house grooves that are laced with originality. Enough originality in fact to have caught the attention of Hot Chip, Zero 7, Holy Ghost! and Groove Armada who've all come calling for their remix services.

Inu (e-nu) is the new band featuring San Francisco based producer Count (Radiohead, DJ Shadow, New Order, Halou, Galactic, Frank Sinatra), Zoe Keating (Rasuptina, Imogen Heap, Dresden Dolls) and Tim Hingston (Nyles Lannon). 'Not For Anyone' is their debut full length album available June 29 2010. Skillfully melding rock, abstract sound collage, synths, and noise, the collection of songs that make up 'Not For Anyone' nod in the direction of classic alternative artists while side-stepping any sense of cliche. Ultimately what is revealed - both vocally and through the layered guitars and bombastic percussion - is something fresh, striking and uniquely, Inu. The songs from this album were all inspired by the research Count was doing for a documentary film he is directing called 'Manufactured'. Each song on the album addresses a different aspect of how our modern world is broken on an environmental, economic, and social level. The topics range from the distorted news media in the satircal song "Stephen Colbert", the exploitation of 3rd world countries in "Appearances", to the failure of the UN to stop genocide in "Far From Safe". Steering completely clear from being preachy, this powerful collection of songs offers a unique, abstract way of addressing how the most serious issues of our time affect us all.
