A year after being a finalist on the eighth season of "American Idol," Scott MacIntyre will release his first post-"Idol" CD, Heartstrings, on March 11. The album will be available on iTunes and at his website. The release date coincides with his return to "American Idol" on the March 11th results show, when he will take the stage to perform on the same evening that the Season 9 "Top 12" are revealed. The first visually impaired finalist on "American Idol," MacIntyre was called "an inspiration to the entire world through your commitment, through your talent" by former judge Paula Abdul. All of his talents – classically trained pianist, award-winning singer, composer and musician – come to the fore on Heartstrings, which features a dozen original tracks: from the upbeat pop/rock of "Stars," "The Good, the Bad, the Ugly" and its lead single, "Heartstrings," to intimate acoustic ballads like "Autumn Leaves" and "The Sun Still Shines," to the humorous romp "I'll Take Tom (MySpace Breakup Song)." MacIntyre's contagious spirit of optimism and heartfelt lyrics take the listener on an emotional journey of love and yearning, hardship and hope, from the perspective of "someone who deeply understands the challenge of overcoming enormous adversity."

The highly-accomplished singer/composer Lisa Papineau releases her Sargent House debut, Red Trees on May 4th. The album is the second solo venture from the active collaborator known for her vocal contributions to Air and M83, as well as writing with The Mars Volta bassist Juan Alderete de la Peña in Big Sir. The ever-active Papineau also works with soundtrack composer Tyler Bates, Japanese artist Jun Miyake, The Anubian Lights, Bron Tieman's Crooked Cowboy and countless other projects. Red Trees features guest vocals from singer/songwriters Matthieu Boogaerts and Mark Eitzel of American Music Club. Remarkably, contending with multiple sclerosis in recent years hasn't slowed down Papineau's creative output. Relocating to France in the middle of the last decade, the myriad challenges she confronted served as inspiration to her muse. "Since I got sick," she explains, "there have been times when I can't speak, can't see very well, can't walk well, and am in pain that is so singular, there is no thinking that goes along with it, just being. It reminded me a little bit of what it was like when I first moved to France, of the very tunnel-like feeling I had not understanding most of what was being said, not being able to communicate in the flow in which I was normally accustomed. One leans harder into the connections with other people when you can't take the modes of expression for granted."

Sam Phillips will be releasing an EP entitled Magic for Everybody digitally on April 20. This is the third EP of five that are part of the Long Play project at www.samphillips.com which also will include a full length album, the latter consisting of new recordings separate from the EPs. Magic For Everybody was released to participants in Phillips' Long Play in February as one of the premiums included in their membership.. The EP features five tracks produced by Sam herself, recorded and mixed at Littlebox Recordings during January and February 2010. The songs include the title track, Always Merry and Bright," "Lever Pulled Down," "Tell Her What She Wants To Know" and "Trouble." These numbers are performed by longtime Phillips collaborator Jay Bellerose on drums, Jennifer Condos on bass, Greg Leisz on electric guitar, Eric Gorfain (The Section Quartet) on guitar and string arranging. Oh, and Sam on vocals, guitar and piano! The material is classic Phillips, tuneful, sophisticated yet straightforward melodies each with a distinctive compositional twist. Each song has its own unique production fillip ranging from the grandly orchestral "Always Merry And Bright" (shades of Roy Orbison!), to the intricate backing vocal lacework of "Trouble" and "Lever Pulled Down" with its rambunctious boogieing beat and so on. This and all the EPs are intended as opportunities for experimentation, searching for fresh inspiration, taking risks and having "selfish fun." They're a chance to explore artistic possibilities that wouldn't have been supported by music industry framework conventions of "album cycle" marketing and promotion. This being a digital release Phillips is continuing crafting the songs right to the point of release.

Singer-songwriter Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu will release his eponymous solo debut album Gurrumul via Dramatico Entertainment on June 15. Gurrumul is the first indigenous Australian solo artist to breakthrough to the mainstream with audiences and critics responding passionately to the album. Gurrumul went double-platinum, earned exceptional reviews and four ARIA Award nominations (including the coveted Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year). A stunning collection of 12 songs, Gurrumul emphasizes the importance of ancestry, country and land. The Northern Territory native, blind from birth, grew up as a member of the Gumatj clan on Elcho Island, off the coast of tropical North East Arnhem Land. In his culture, the elders are the spokespersons for the clan. But the self-effacing Gurrumul, as he likes to be known, doesn't have to say anything at all; the songs on his self-titled debut speak volumes. As the Sydney Morning Herald declared, when Gurrumul was first released in Australia, "There is something so timeless and so direct, it is impossible to remain unmoved. It is as though Yunupingu has reached into a wellspring so deep it transcends cultural barriers...This is not just a very good record, it is one of the greatest records ever made by a local indigenous musician."

After dominating the overseas charts with critically acclaimed debut, Hong Kong music sensation Leslie Loh hits U.S. shores March 23rd with her new full-length release, "Metamothosis." A superwoman of sorts who is fully versed in martial arts, trained alongside US Navy Seals, Marines and S.W.A.T. teams, and joined the UK National String Academy as 1st violinist, Loh showcases her extreme discipline and exhaustive focus on the new album. Music Week (UK) raves "[Loh's] powerful ballads and soulful rock tracks are dripping with raw emotion." The album's first single, "Prey", charges forward with a blazing electric guitar line reminiscent of Evanescence, and represents Loh's shift away from the R&B tone of her debut, to the soul-rock sound of "Metomothosis." Loh says of the progression, "For those who know me, it's a departure from my past single, "Satisfied", which has a more R&B flavour. Even though I enjoyed that phase immensely, I jumped at the chance to pen an album straight from my heart."
