Today's top pop and entertainment stories, we begin with: Clay Aiken has his own idea of what American Idol should do to replace departing judge Simon Cowell. "I've always thought it would be a great addition to the panel to have someone who's a former contestant and knows what it's like to be up on that stage and be critiqued," Aiken tells Billboard.com. more

Syfy has cast 1980s pop-star rivals Debbie Gibson and Tiffany in one of the network's signature Saturday night original movies. The cable network promises an epic battle between the former teen pop stars, who will co-star in "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid." more

Drake's debut album flew to the No. 1 spot on the U.S. chart Wednesday, while Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers came in at No. 2 with their highest ranking since 1980. more.

But it doesn't look like Drake will hold on to the top spot: Eminem's "Recovery," could sell more than 600,000 copies by Sunday for the biggest sales week of the year, industry sources estimate. It could even surpass the 608,000-unit haul of his last set, 2009's "Relapse." more

Mariah Carey is in the doghouse with a veterinarian who says the pop superstar hasn't paid nearly $30,000 in bills for three of her prized pooches. more

On the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, Fuse, Madison Square Garden's national music television network will celebrate the iconic artist's life and legacy with two days of non-stop MJ. Beginning Friday, June 25th through Saturday, June 26th between 11am – 6am, Fuse will pay tribute to the King of Pop with programming that includes two world-premiere documentaries, Michael Jackson: The Inside Story and Michael Jackson: A Tribute, as well as a biography highlighting the pop star's wildly successful career and some of his most iconic music videos.

Animal Planet aired a special "Michael Jackson & Bubbles: The Untold Story" documentary last night in light of the anniversary of the King of Pop's death, and in the clip, the late singer's sister, LaToya Jackson, bursts into tears after seeing the chimpanzee again more

Tickets to Jimmy Buffett's free concert to show support for the oil spill-stricken Gulf Coast were grabbed up quickly Wednesday and began showing up for sale on eBay for more than $100 each — prompting the online service to ban the sales on its site. more

Eminem and Jay-Z Surprise Gig To Air This Friday
Eminem and Jay-Z's surprise performance at the New York Ameritania Hotel is scheduled to air this Friday (June 25, 2010) during "The Late Show with David Letterman" on the CBS network.

The early evening performance took place upon the rooftop of the Ameritania Hotel which is located at 230 West 54th Street in Manhattan. The hotel shares a common roof with the famous Ed Sullivan Theater, home of the Letterman show. The performance was meant to be unannounced, but as with any New York minute, word spread quickly.

Manhattan-based hotelier Hank Freid, owner of the Ameritania Hotel, along with several other boutique hotels, threw an intimate party from the property rooftop to share in the entertainment and excitement. "It was the experience of a lifetime," one guest quoted. "Jay Z and Eminem performing live on top of the greatest city in the world!" -

Superstar DJ collective Swedish House Mafia will release their debut single "ONE (Your Name)" on June 29th on Astralwerks.

Tank Returns with Sex Music
Tank made his Atlantic Records debut this week with his first new solo track in more than three years, "Sex Music".

The single is just arriving at multi-format Urban and Rhythmic radio outlets nationwide, heralding Tank's long awaited fourth album, to be entitled "NOW OR NEVER," scheduled for release later this year.

Born Durrell Babbs, Tank first attracted attention while working as one of Ginuwine's backing vocalists. Michael Jackson Commemorated in New Film
Austen Tayler has becoming the first American female director to release a full-length feature film commissioned by Japan with her film about Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson Commemorated, produced by Flamingo Features and distributed by Star Sands, opens in 150 theatres in Japan on June 25th, on the one-year anniversary of the superstar's death.

"I am thrilled to pave the way for more American female directors to be recognized and hired within Japan's typically male reserved entertainment circles," said Austen Tayler at this morning's announcement. "Japan continues to be a homogeneous society so it's still somewhat difficult for women to get their voices heard but it's vital we keep trying." - more on this story

2nd Annual Apple Jam For The Wounded Warrior Project
King Blossom Guitars will present the 2nd Annual Apple Jam at Mount Sunapee Resort on Saturday, July 10.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project and will support a full range of programs and services for severely injured service members and their families.

Live music from noon until 10:00pm will include rock, blues, country and country rock provided by the Dan Lawson Band, YouTube's Riffguy, Little Memphis, Last Kid Picked, Southern Breeze, Samuel Bowen and wounded warrior and Nashville singer/songwriter Sal "Gonzo" Gonzalez.
