Arika Kane Debut Set
Thompkins Marketing, BSE Recordings and MVD Audio are proud to announce the CD release of Arika Kane's self titled debut on February 23, 2010.

On her debut self-titled CD, Arika Kane displays a clever blend of modern urban and R&B saturated with memorable hooks, smooth rhythm and irrepressible vocal harmonies. The Connecticut born songstress's sound has been compared to musical divas Mariah Carey and Monica, and Kane cites Whitney Houston and Carey as major influences. Her buoyant soprano coupled with serious lyrical components adds to her pop sensibilities. Kane's recent performance captivated the audience at her debut listening party at New York's DEX Studios.

"I am so excited for the world to hear my album," said Kane. "Every song has its own identity and place, yet they are all equally amazing. My goal in all my music is to make people feel good. I really believe we don't embrace the good things in life as much as we should and through my music I hope to contribute to that."

Devon Sproule Sets March Release
Black Hen Records announces a March 16 release date for Devon Sproule's new CD, ‘Don't Hurry for Heaven!, distributed in the U.S. by Burnside Distribution. The album includes special guest appearances by Jesse Winchester, who sings vocals on the opening track, as well as British all-star BJ Cole, who plays his signature pedal steel guitar throughout.

Produced by Devon's husband Paul Curreri, who also plays various instruments on the album, ‘Don't Hurry for Heaven! was recorded, for the most part, in England and is the product of her spending much of the last two years touring abroad. Since Curreri was about to cross the pond for his own European tour, he flew over three days early and under his direction, the group tracked eight songs at Far Heath Studios in Northamptonshire. From there, Curreri brought the tracks back to the couple's home studio in Virginia and completed them.

"Last year was a good one, and full of adventures," says Sproule. "After a whole summer of festivals in the UK, my band was feeling great. It would've been a shame not to capture something from that time, to let that phase of our playing evaporate into the next. So we booked this studio out in the country."

Bisco Smith Vibrations Remixed
After Bisco Smith's newest album, The Broadcast, arrived with a bang, he has taken his single, "Vibrations" to the next level with its revamped remix. Producer Scott Thorough was brought in for this remix to provide a different angle for the edgy single.

A Brooklyn native, Thorough is a member of the Nuclear Family and has produced remixes for Embedded Music and Def Jux artists Baje One, Cool Calm Pete, Core Rhythm, and more, along with his frequent collaborations with Bisco. "Scott has remixed a bunch of tunes for me in the past and always comes with the dark, heavy, hard-hitting material," says Bisco. "I am a fan of dubstep, drum and bass, and heavy electronic tunes and I think Scott always incorporates those elements in what he sends my way."

The echoed beginning of "We gonna get you out of here," followed by a moment of dead air, erases all pretense for the remix, opening up the listener to the new possibilities of Scott Thorough's imaginings. Warped sounds, pounding drums, and a descending synthesizer bass line continuously push the music forward, but in a different way than the original single – its eerie setup, and the feel it provides Bisco's lyrics, fill the remix with a seemingly slowed, yet driving power. Coming to an end, the remix takes yet another turn, as Bisco directs the drum kick, bass line, and snare hit with his intense, syncopated lyrics. Then, coming full circle, the remix closes the same way it began – an echoing "We gonna get you out of here" permeates the speakers, reinforcing the song's theme of musical escape as Bisco's fading vocals wander off, pulling the listener's thoughts with them. The most musically diverse effort of Bisco's career, The Broadcast pushes the boundaries of what hip-hop can be, and with the album's remixes, and the efforts of Scott Thorough, "Vibrations" continues to challenge the hip-hop status quo. Bisco Smith's The Broadcast is currently available via all digital retailers.

Quadron Have Top Tune Of A Few Days Ago
Quadron, a soulful, experimental duo from Copenhagen, Denmark was the featured "Top Tune" artist of the day Monday on KCRW. The band's track "Average Fruit" was offered all day as a free download and is now available via podcast. Their self-titled debut will be released in the States via Los Angeles based label, Plug Research on March 23, 2010.

According to Quadron's Robin Hannibal, "the song is about finding what you believe in, and what your heart beats for. No matter if that is working in a supermarket, or as a rocket scientist. Heavily inspired by Charles Stepney string arrangements, the beat is a take on a modern version of a syncopated African rhythm."

"Morning Becomes Eclectic" and "Today's Top Tune" producer Ariana Morgenstern says of Quadron: "Danish duo Quadron provides a soulful mix of down-tempo beats with beautiful arrangements and orchestrations. Our intrepid DJ Anthony Valadez got his hands on an early copy and started slipping it into the mix here at KCRW. Soon enough, just about every DJ here got behind it. Thanks to Anthony, a U.S. release of their debut is coming soon."

Kidz In The Hall Make Believe in March
Kidz In The Hall have matured in their music to discover who they truly are as artists. Having the opportunity to reflect on their body of work and analyze both their strengths and weaknesses has enabled the group to redefine both their goals, aspirations and at the same time expose what the music industry can do to those closely involved with it.

Kidz In The Hall are embarking on their next journey into the Land Of Make Believe (In Stores March 9th, 2010). For Naledge, MC of Kidz In The Hall, he sees the project as "the moment we have worked for has come to a crossroad. We strive for success in this music industry, but we have never taken time to look ourselves in the mirror and analyze what this industry has made us. As a lyricist, I used this album to serve as a soundtrack to my aspirations and to my downfalls, but also as a chance to evaluate who I am as a man compared to whom I envisioned myself to be."

Examining the current climate of our world today, Land Of Make Believe, is a timely reminder for us all to take a step back and analyze how we can strive to be better and achieve more. Double-O highlights this further by saying that "The Land of Make Believe is different things for different people. For us it is the space between where we are now as artists and where we feel we should be. It's the idea that until you actually get to your destination or goal you have to act like you are already there."
The first single from the album, "FLICKIN", currently available at iTunes worldwide, is a prime example of dichotomy of imagination and reality.
