Laura Bell Bundy Giddy's On Up
Mercury Nashville is set to release "Giddy On Up", the first single and video by Laura Bell Bundy world-premiered on CMT and CMT.com.

Born in Lexington, KY, Laura Bell first found success (and a Tony Award-nomination) in New York by originating the lead role of Elle Woods in the Broadway musical, Legally Blonde. She also originated the role of Amber Von Tussle in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Hairspray and played Glinda in the smash hit Wicked.

Laura Bell Bundy isn't a typical country artist and created a bold concept album for her first release Achin' and Shakin', which is essentially two separate albums within one project: Achin'-- a collection of slow and sultry country songs -- and Shakin', a group of sassy songs that are equal parts humor, confidence and attitude. One side presents a modern-day mixture of Loretta Lynn, Minnie Pearl and Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw; the other unveils country's answer to Norah Jones. - You can find the video at this direct link

Chris Berry Brings CB3 From Zimbabwe To The West Coast
What happens when you put African grooves born in the ghettos of Zimbabwe with the ground breaking guitar work of San Francisco's scene and combine it with New York City's urban electronica? The west coast is about to find out.

Joining together for their first multi-night tour, and performing under the guise of CB-3, Chris Berry has arranged his most interesting collaboration yet. Featuring San Francisco's own Steve Kimock alongside the rhythm section of the Brazillian Girls comes an explosive cross-cultural musical experience for music lovers of all types - CB-3 (Chris Berry Trio) Featuring Steve Kimock. The 10-day tour will maneuver along the west coast including dates in Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Eugene and Portland Oregon.

Music first touched the Grammy award winning Chris Berry as a teen living in the heart of Zimbabwe where he carefully learned the indigenous rhythms of Africa on the sacred Mbira (African Thumb Piano). His ability to speak out against the tyranny of the Zimbabwean regime through the art of music won him overnight success across the country and in the World Music market, bringing his music around the globe. Since then, he has performed on the stages of the 2000 Olympics, the Sydney Opera house and the nations largest festivals across the United States with his project Panjea. 2010 finds the "Afropop Superstar" (SF Chronicle) a multi-instrumentalist with grace on Mbira, the hand drum, as well as a gifted singer-songwriter whose voice is often compared to Sting. - more on this story

Where They At: A Multi-Media Archive of New Orleans Bounce Music at Abrons Art Center
New York City's Abrons Arts Center is proud to announce Where They At, an exhibition that portrays the founders, architects, and players in New Orleans hip-hop and the uniquely regional rap known as bounce music, a phenomenon that evolved from the communities based in the city's housing projects. Photographs, oral histories, and video footage compiled by photographer Aubrey Edwards and journalist Alison Fensterstock document the passing of seminal beats from New Orleans music traditions to a new generation in the late 1980's, and the creation of this new voice in Southern roots music.

This multi-media archive draws a line to the present-day diaspora, as Hurricane Katrina has scattered a once tight-knit bounce and hip-hop community whose music only existed at home — a home that has been redefined physically and culturally. Where They At will also be exhibited during SXSW in Austin, Texas and will launch during Jazz Fest in New Orleans at the Odgen Museum of Southern Art, where numerous events spanning several months have been planned.

New Orleans has midwifed every existing form of indigenous American music, including funk and the street music exemplified by 2nd Line bands and Mardi Gras Indians. Hip-hop is the newest manifestation of that Southern tradition. Mardi Gras Indian chants, brass band beats and call-and-response routines equally inform bounce music, which almost invariably samples the Showboys' "Drag Rap" (a.k.a. "Triggerman") and Derek B's "Rock the Beat" or Cameron Paul's "Brown Beats." Featuring lyrical patterns that focus mainly on sex, parties and dancing, it invites – even demands – audience participation by calling out dance steps or prompting replies. - more on this story

Donwill of Tanya Morgan Presents Don Cusack in High Fidelity
Donwill, one third of acclaimed hip-hop trio Tanya Morgan, is proud to announce the release of his debut solo album, Don Cusack in High Fidelity. The album, ingeniously inspired by the plot of the celluloid classic High Fidelity, will be released on March 23rd, 2010 via Interdependent Media.

Don Cusack In High Fidelity is Donwill's musical representation of the movie from which it took its name. Not only is High Fidelity Donwill's personal favorite film, but he identified with John Cusack's character, Rob Gordon, so much that he created an entire album inspired by the movie. Donwill incorporated personal stories of falling in love, fearing commitment, hating his job, and learning life lessons, to create a clever and deeply personal musical interpretation of the film. Skillfully and artfully crafted using direct subject matter and quotes from the cult classic, the 16-track personal odyssey will resonate not only with fans of the original movie but also with anyone who has spent time trying to figure out the opposite sex. "The album is based on being in a state of perpetual pre-mid-life crisis," says Donwill. "Nothing in life will give you all the answers, but this album will help people find some of the answers they might be looking for."

Donwill faced unique challenges in creating his first solo record. Similarly to how lead character Rob Gordon managed the behavior of his record store employees, Donwill assumed the responsibilities of an orchestra conductor, guiding his featured guests to embody a key character from the film. Opio from Souls of Mischief assumes the role of Ian, Rob's ex-girlfriend's new lover while Che Grand assumes the character of one of Rob's unruly record store employees, Barry, who was portrayed by Jack Black in the film. - more on this story

A Film About People Watching Films
In order to beat the World Record for non-stop movie watching, you're going to have to stay up for 123 hours and watch at least 57 films. Guinness Records lets you have a ten-minute break after every film but if you look away or even have a long blink, you're out (and no, you can't do drugs). A Million In The Morning, a Decon and Street Carnage Films presentation is a documentary about not sleeping.

Following 8 contestants as they compete to beat the Movie Watching World Record, the Decon film crew and our host Gavin McInnes decided to stay up with them and capture every moment. What unfolds is a hallucination-inducing, never-ending Ground Hog's Day set with the backdrop of New York City's most iconic landmark – Time's Square.

Known for their ties to the music scene via their independent music label, Decon has commissioned Jay Electronica to produce the film's theme song, aptly titled "A Million In The Morning". - more on this story
