FCA! 35 Tour: An Evening with Peter Frampton

.
Frampton no longer has golden curls down to his shoulders but he still has those lively eyes and the ear-to-ear grin that he sported on the cover of Frampton Comes Alive!, the hugely-successful album that made him a superstar and set the sales bar impossibly high for all live albums released subsequently.

The guitarist spent part of 2011 and 2012 touring in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the album, and this film finds him performing the album in its entirety, although slightly out of sequence from the original.

Frampton picks up an acoustic for the album's midsection of "Wind of Change," "Penny For Your Thoughts" and "All I Wanna Be (Is By Your Side)" but for a good portion of the show he plays the Gibson electric that he used on the original recording; the instrument was thought to have been destroyed in a plane crash in the '80s and Frampton can barely contain his joy as he plays the long-lost guitar.

Of course no recreation of Frampton Comes Alive! would be complete without the talk box and Peter breaks the effect out as expected for "Show Me the Way" and a 20-minute version of "Do You Feel like We Do."

After the classic album set is completed Frampton plays another dozen songs including "Asleep at the Wheel" from his recent Thank You Mr Churchill, the Humble Pie chestnut "I Don't Need No Doctor" and a few cover songs including "Black Hole Sun" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
