Stray Cats - Live at Montreux 1981

.
This is the first ever DVD release from Stray Cats and that might have something to do with the fact that their rockabilly music is designed to get people dancing and not really geared to having people just stare at the stage (or TV set.)

The crowd at this Swiss show clearly wanted to bust a move but with concertgoers pressed right up against the stage there wasn't much they could do except bop and sway in time to energetic tunes like "Double Talking Baby" and big hits "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town."

The trio of Brian Setzer (guitar) Slim Jim Phantom (drums) and Lee Rocker (bass) pays homage to their rockabilly forerunners by ripping through Johnny Burnette's "Sweet Love on My Mind," Eddie Cochran's "Somethin' Else" and multiple Gene Vincent tunes including "Important Words" and encore "Pretty Pretty Baby," neither of which has ever appeared on an official Stray Cats album.

Rocker sings the Cats original "Drink That Bottle Down" and favorites "Rumble in Brighton" and "Runaway Boys" are also on the set list.
