Styx - Regeneration Vols. I & II Until now this 2-CD set of newly recorded versions of Styx hits was only available at the merch table during the band's live appearances. The original arrangements of favorites including "The Grand Illusion," "Lorelei," "Sing for the Day" and "Come Sail Away" are not tampered with; rather they're enhanced by the improved sound provided by today's technology and, in places, punchier playing of guitar and keyboard parts. The songs featuring long time member Tommy Shaw on lead vocals are the best cuts but fans may prefer the original takes on non-Shaw sung numbers like "Lorelei" and "Miss America;" that really depends on how much the fan likes the "new" (for the past decade, plus) Styx without original vocalist Dennis DeYoung. A lot of Styx songs are great to sing along to and for those songs the familiar voice of the lead vocalist is important but the band has always been composed of stellar musicians and their poppy style of prog rock has never sounded better instrumentally than what's found here. Along with the big hits Regeneration includes new song "Difference in the World" and "High Enough" and "Coming of Age" from Shaw's other band Damn Yankees. Styx - Regeneration Vols.
