Social Code - Rock n Roll

March 23 saw the first U.S. release called Rock n Roll from Canada's own rock band Social Code. The quartet originating from Alberta has gained some success with their first 2 albums but now the group is poised to make that leap into the ring with the big boys through this release of 11 original tracks of rock music.Social Code feels this is actually their debut disc. After fumbling around with music that they thought would be popular and trying to emulate other groups that seem to be garnering success at the time they had a heart to heart meeting to discuss the bands future and it was then that they decided unanimously to get back to their roots and concentrate on making music that is true to themselves. Right off the bat while listening to the disc I have to give the guys credit for leading off the disc with a ballad which is also the title track named "Rock N Roll". I was kinda taken back at first to have a slow tune start off a rock record but after listening a few times I think they made the right decision. The song is slow but very dynamic and powerful a great lead in for the rest of the disc and one of my favorites on the album. Next comes "Nothing Left To Loose" and "Satisfied," both very radio friendly with enough hooks and sing-able choruses that I would bet one of these songs will be the first single. The rest of the songs fall right in step with one another, rock/pop tunes that should go a long way in getting the group noticed. Social Code is made up of Travis Nesbitt on vocals, Morgan Gies guitar, Logan Jacobs on base and Ben Shillabeer on drums. The group has made a standup disc that should accumulate more fans and fame for them in the future but hey, this music industry is cut throat and what should happen and what does happen are sometimes 2 different things. I'll just wish them all the luck and hope the band continues to make music.
