The majority of songs on George Lassos the Moon (the title borrowed of course from It's a Wonderful Life) were written by Lucas in a one-week period during a year-long separation with his girlfriend. According to the band's website, these began as letters and grew into songs, and ultimately an album.

This album has a fairly stark feel, with melodies based in folk and country. Two good examples of the stark feel of this album are "What Fools Allow" and "Get Up! You Damn, Dead Horse." The former, while not really a country song, truly captures the feel of the sad country song. The latter is probably a better example, and ends with nothing more than Lucas's vocals.

This is a very well-done album. It is easy to feel the sadness that Lucas experienced when he wrote this song. If you are a fan of Local H, you will probably be interested to see how Lucas operates outside of that duo. If you are a fan of rootsy, folk type albums, this is one you'll want to add to your collection.
