It's been a long time since their debut album was made public in 2003 but finally this year Depswa will be releasing some new music in a 7 track E.P. titled Distorted American Dream. The band was hoping to get this E.P. out in 08 but different obstacles kept holding it back and although I failed to find an exact release date I feel confident the disc will get released this year. (it has to, there's some good music here)
The disc starts off with the title track, a hard adrenalin pumper that lays the foundation for the rest of the disc. I think the second track titled "Right Now" will be the first single put out from the disc, the catchy guitar riff and sing able chorus should make it a sure radio hit.
The rest of the disc flows along with the sound you'd expect from Depswa. Stinging but melodic guitars and thundering drums with Jeremy Penick's insistent vocals cementing everything together. All the tracks are rockers except the 4th track called "Hold On," it's a semi-ballad but still has that hard rock feel. The disc ends on a very aggressive song called "The Way I Am" where Jeremy in so many words basically tells the world you get what you see and if you don't like it F off.
The music on the disc confirms that the success of Depswa's first album was no fluke. These guys got game and for all the Depswa fans rejoice for here is a quote from Depswa on their Myspace blog: "We have 14 other tracks that are done will be released in the near future, but we wanted to throw out a killer EP first that is straight to the point...everyone knows it's been long enough!!!"
I know I'll be keeping an eye out for it.
