Decyfer Down - Crash

.
On May 5th Decyfer Down will drop their sophomore disc titled Crash. Based in North Carolina the rock quartet has been out on the road honing their skills and learning the music biz by opening for bands like Theory of a Dead Man and Breaking Benjamin.Crash is made up of 10 original tracks with the usual mix of rockers and ballads. Produced by Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down, Saliva, Sister Hazel) the disc has a good flow and some of the tunes should get some radio air play. "Crash," the title track starts the disc off with crunching guitars and clean pleading vocals. This blueprint repeats itself throughout the disc. My favorite songs would be "Ride With Me," "Fading" and "Over My Head," I'm not sure if it's the guitar or vocal style but while listening to the disc I can't help drawing a comparison to a mellowed out Thornly. You can't deny that all the songs on here are well written with appealing rhythms, good guitar work and drums but once again I come across a disc that has a fine collection of tunes on it but there's nothing here to make it standout from all the other present day rock music flooding the industry. I hope for Decyfer Downs sake that when the disc is released it doesn't get overlooked and end up collecting dust on a shelf.
