WheelHouse - Say Hello Review
.
WheelHouse is a five-piece band from Indianapolis. All five of the guys are very solid musicians. The guitarists produce some big, gritty riffs. The rhythm section (particularly the drummer) is exceptional. Throw in some retro organ sounds, and what you have is a solid rock and roll band. On their MySpace page, the band's tagline is "Rock and roll with a side of biscuits and gravy." That's about right. There is a definite Allman Brothers influence in "Say Hello." In other tunes like ("Wounded" and "Gasoline), the band tends toward grittier southern rock like Molly Hatchett. The band also shows pretty good range moving from ballads like "Devil in the Sun" to all-out slide guitar rockers like "Roll Away." They also throw in some jam band influences in "Hold My Head Up High." Overall, this is a really good effort. Each member of the band is very good at what he does. The rocking tunes will get you moving and the ballads are pretty well done too. I expect good things from this band in the future.
