Ted Nugent - Love Grenade Review
by Zane Ewton
.
Ted Nugent makes music? After the numerous reality shows, big game hunting and constant pontification, it is easy to forget Uncle Ted is still rock and roll's resident gonzo, guitar-slinging caveman. Love Grenade is Ted Nugent molded into a plastic disc. Song titles like "Girl Scout Cookies," "Spirit of the Buffalo," and "Bridge Over Troubled Daughters" should be the first indication that you will be assaulted with 110 percent of the Nuge's rude and crude humor, woodsy enthusiasm and guitars piled on top of more guitars. Throw out all of Nugent's bad poetry and bow hunting obsessions and you are left with some top-notch rock and roll guitar in desperate need of a real lead singer. That has always been the case for Mr. Loincloth though. You know precisely what you will be getting and it will be coming at you with the tenderness of a chainsaw. Ted's guitar leads the way and everyone else merely holds on for dear life. This time around Nugent employs bassist Barry Sparks, drummer Tommy Clufetos and shares time with a guesting Jack Blades. It has been many years since the Motor City Madman made a record worth a listen. Love Grenade is worthy of multiple listens. Proceed with caution, loincloths and carcasses required.
